Demino Ski Marathon 2016

03.04.2016

“One step left to the Worldloppet master, or a trip to the Demino International Ski Marathon 2016”

Let a little late, and at the end winter season, but I could not miss the story about the trip to the Demino ski marathon on March 12-13, 2016. Even at the beginning of the season, I decided for myself not to set any sporting ambitions this year, to calmly participate in competitions according to my well-being and desire. And such an internal state in the skiing competitions held seemed much more comfortable than drowning, which is the strength in the race. Missed " Night Race”and the Samara Ski Marathon“ Sokolii Gory ”due to work as the chief judge and in the organizing committee of the marathon, which had to be urgently organized from scratch three weeks before the start. But back in early January, I kept an eye on the obligatory trip to Demino. And only on February 6, so as not to endure anything, I registered on the marathon website for two races: on Saturday, March 12, 2016 for 50 km. freestyle and on Sunday March 13 at 25 km. classic style. Run, so run along full program. The Togliatti marathon became an excellent training ground a week before the Demino marathon. That's where I had to puff to the fullest on the ski track. Sufficiently difficult warm conditions, soft and wet track drove the result in 3 hours 19 minutes 59 seconds. Truly managed to overcome myself and reach the finish line of 50 km.

A week of rest and forward ... we cover the skis, pack the bag and go to the airport.

According to my established tradition, I will share my experience on how to comfortably get to the venue of the Demino marathon, excluding personal vehicles and “wonderful” roads.

The marathon itself is held at a modern ski stadium in the village of Demino, Yaroslavl region. This is an 18 km drive from the city of Rybinsk. Studying the schedule and movement of all types of public transport, I chose the most comfortable for myself.

Departure on Friday afternoon by Aeroflot flight to Moscow (Sheremetyevo). It turned out to buy a round-trip ticket with luggage and an additional bonus ski bag (in winter, carrying a bag is free at Aeroflot) for only 3,900 rubles. From Sheremetyevo Airport we take the Aeroexpress train to the Belorussky railway station, throw our skis into the luggage room, walk around Moscow for 3 hours and at 21-08 we get on the night train Moscow - Rybinsk No. 602Ya. The upper shelves of the coupe are cheaper, for 900 rubles. Arrival in Rybinsk on Saturday at 6-48 am.

In Moscow, upon arrival, we met at the airport with Evgeny Tarasov. Eugene arrived a little earlier, since it was not possible to buy tickets for my flight in advance. Late in the evening we load from the platform of the Belorussky railway station into a 5-car train passenger train to Rybinsk.

Get up early in the morning ... 6-48 hours. end station.

The choice of the hotel determined the proximity to the Rybinsk railway station. Five minutes walk and we are at the hotel. We sort things out quickly, get ready thoroughly, have time to dive into the hotel for breakfast, order a taxi (20 minutes drive / 250 rubles) and forward get numbers to the credentials committee.

Without reaching ski center, we hear the familiar voices of "SAAMMARRAH!!" It is on the next track that the friendly marathon team LADA from Tolyatti is catching up with us, under the strict guidance of Oleg Tarasov: Valery Karasev, Vyacheslav Malov, Roman Chugunov, Sergey Kizhevatov. Not missing the opportunity to quickly take a picture, we move to get numbers. Everything is very informative, we show certificates, we get a mark of verification, we approach the secretaries of the mandate commission. The issuance of starter packs is very fast, while signing a pre-printed registration card.

Since it was registered late, the number went to 1373 in the 4th wave. But I don’t feel any special feelings, since there are no evil sports ambitions. Our Samara skiers from Pokhvistnevo and Sergievsk are also running in the third wave: Artur Dmitriev, Sergey Kirichenko, Vazgen Gokoryan, Viktor Karyagin and Evgeny Tarasov.

I get a chip before entering my pen. Everything is standard and familiar. By participating in recent marathons, I adapted to take a flask with isotonic with me. Although it cools down by the end of the race ... but the energy is always with you, you can take a sip at any moment.

Our wave starts in about 12 minutes. I have never had a chance to drive along the highway ... I run blindly ... and what is around the corner ... is unknown. It's even more entertaining and interesting. The distance is two laps of 25 km each. Divided by 15 km on the right - fairly flat distance and 10 km with four good climbs.

The weather for the marathon was to order. The day before it was warm, the sun was up to +8, but on the night before the marathon it got colder, and in the morning the thermometer showed minus 2 degrees. The track promised to be tough and fast.

The start of our wave and I'm back in the race. Skis rolled well, which added to the mood. The track is wide, there is no crowd. If you want to overtake even faster ... jump into the extreme track and simultaneous moves overtake rivals. After the first short direct descent, I concluded that I was careful with the environment. Looks like well-dressed skiers, but there is no confidence in the downhill. There were falls out of the blue. At the mass start and the density of participants, a blockage cannot be avoided. He squeezed the edge of a small blockage and rolled on. I missed the first food point, a lot of people, the speed is high ... I decided not to waste time. An interesting track, sometimes into the forest, sometimes into the fields, there are practically no climbs for 15 km, except for the first climb for 2 km. Return to the stadium with a good descent and leave for a 10 km circle. This is where a little nervous excitement on the descents began. The descents are straight, relatively small, at the end with a slight turn to the right. On all the slopes I tried to go off-piste for better coordination. If you got up on the ski track ... there are no chances for maneuver ... concrete ... it’s easy to catch the ski when changing lanes. He sat down in a good stance and drove off. But someone starts to plow, the rear ones stick in and begin to perform maneuvers or also plow. In these maneuvers, concrete deep ski tracks and falls, blockages cling. On one of the descents, I went to the very edge along the edge and the skiers who fell in the middle did not reach me in centimeters .. they would have been easily demolished off the track. Exhaling at the end of the descent, “Thank God it passed!!!” began to get acquainted with 4 climbs per 10 km. circle. Normal long climbs, after the plain it's nice to work and cheer up. Again a long descent to the stadium and the second 25 km. circle. At food stations, I took only warm fruit drinks to warm the body and drink my already cooled isotonic drink. The organizers also provided a RED BUII energy drink, but I did not take it.

On the second lap it was not so crowded, as many skiers from the first waves fell behind. Sowing into the waves was based on the principle that whoever paid earlier, he runs closer, with the exception of the elite first group. Formed, as always happens a steam locomotive of 5-6 racers, and so together they went.

Sun, windless, warm…ideal conditions for a ski marathon. The second lap ended quickly enough… slight fatigue was certainly present, but the surge of emotions about the end of the race was overwhelmed by physical tension. The final time is 2 hours 17 minutes 09 seconds and 78th place in the M3 group (40-44), 471 in the overall standings out of 1582 participants.

After the finish, I immediately met Evgeny Tarasov, Sergey Kirichenko, Artur Dmitriev, Vazgen Gokorian, Viktor Karyagin… shared their impressions of the race, got bags of clothes, wrapped up for lunch for the marathon runners.

I didn’t feel like eating, we drank chicken broth, tea, left hot in boxes and decided to eat already at the hotel. While drinking, they supported a young skier from Perm who was standing nearby. He ran a marathon for the first time and was apparently starving. Evgeny and I “energetically warmed him up” with a heart-to-heart talk “about tasty and healthy food” called “Ski Marathon”, and that now for many years he “fell” under the influence of this fanatical movement.

On the central square sports center waited for the solemn rewarding of the winners and prize-winners of the marathon.

Sergei Kirichenko managed to take a picture with a member of the Russian national team Alexei Petukhov, who arrived with his entire family, wife and children.

We call a taxi ... five minutes ... the car is in place and after 20 minutes we are at the hotel.

Shower, lunch, rest, laundry... all on schedule. Tomorrow I have another 25 km. classic.

In the evening we met with fellow guys from Murmansk and Sergey Kirichenko. We walked along the main street of Rybinsk - an old merchant town on the Volga, chatted, laughed, had a light evening lunch and went to bed!

Eugene leaves very early in the morning home by train Saint Petersburg- Samara. All Samara skiers are leaving. For the classics, I stay alone on Sunday.

There are significantly fewer participants for the half marathon, only one wave. The weather is similar to Saturday. I smear a small block, so that it would be easier for the tree to run up the tough guys, counting on a simultaneous move.

Start exactly at 11-00 o'clock and again I'm on the track. Not the slightest feeling of fatigue from the first day. The ski track is hard, frozen, icy in places. Just work with your hands and spit and spit.

There are no problems on the descents, all riders pass at high speed without delays and plows. In the course of the first 15 km, an active team of messengers crept up, we had to doublepolle seriously ... not a second of rest. In the second part of the distance, the climbs ran like a herringbone and again leaned on his hands. The skis rode surprisingly well on the icy track. If yesterday I noticed that it was dulling in the track, today the classics flew perfectly.

The last descent, we roll out to the stadium with participant No. 104 Gladkikh Alexander (Moscow region), exchange glances and arrange a finishing spurt to complete the race. Stretch and finish. My result is 1 hour 14 minutes 00 seconds and 81 in absolute, 10th place in the M3 group (40-44). Again a wonderful mood and a feeling of a completed holiday.

I leave back on Sunday evening from Rybinsk by the same route: train Rybinsk - Moscow, in the morning from the Belorussky railway station to Sheremetyevo and immediately on the plane with a flight of 10 hours and 10 minutes to Samara.

Now only 1 marathon separates the Worldloppet master. To be honest, I did not expect to see such a holiday in Demino skiing. The Organizing Committee has taken the marathon to a very high level and some Worldloppet marathons still need to learn from our Russian colleagues. Added a positive and Shrovetide holiday on the second day. In times of the increased exchange rate, it became much more expensive to travel to Europe, and even more so overseas. The ski marathon in Demino is definitely one of the best in Russia - this was confirmed by the participants on the forum and in the reports of the Skisport website.

Conclusions:

The best means of emotional explosion in winter, according to my version:

We run the classic marathon "Sokol'i Gory" 50 km, consolidate the result at the Togliatti marathon free style and reach the peak of form for the Demino marathon in two races of 50 km. free style and 25 km classic!!!

Happy Summer Training!!!

On March 3 and 4, near Rybinsk, in the Demino ski center, the XI Traditional International Rostec DeMinsk ski marathon FIS/Worldloppet, which will bring together more than 2000 participants from all over the world.

Now the Demino marathon is the largest in Russia and the only one that has the international status of an elite series of ski marathons. He surely stands on a par with the Norwegian and American Birkebeiner, Marchalonga, Dolomitenlauf. Deminsky is the youngest of them, but his popularity and attendance is growing year by year. How in 11 years the Demino marathon has turned from a local start into the largest ski marathon in the country, read on our website.

The first Demino marathon took place in 2007. Then about a hundred athletes and skiing enthusiasts started at the 50-kilometer distance. In 2008, there were already almost four hundred participants, and the Demino marathon was included in the elite series of Russian marathons Russialoppet. In 2009, the number of participants doubled - 854 start numbers were issued.

The 2010 marathon brought together more than 1,300 athletes from 30 regions of Russia, as well as Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, France, and the USA. Eminent skiers, honored masters of sports, Olympic champions Svetlana Nageikina, Vladimir Vilisov, Nikita Kryukov, Alexander Panzhinsky and Alexei Petukhov came to participate in the race. Athletes noted high organization competitions in Demino, excellent preparation ski slopes and thoughtful infrastructure of the center, hospitality and interest of numerous Rybinsk spectators.

In 2010, the number of finishers in the marathon exceeded a thousand people, which allowed the organizers of the Demino marathon to apply to Worldloppet (International Federation of Ski Marathons).

The 2011 marathon was a serious preparation for entering the elite of the Worldloppet ski marathons. It was attended by 1200 people.

In 2012, the organizers of the VI Demino marathon, which was attended by 1,600 people, in fact, passed the most difficult exam to join the series of the world's largest marathons - Worldloppet. The VI Demino Marathon was evaluated by the Worldloppet Executive Committee. Its members not only watched, but were themselves participants in the marathon. The result was the inclusion of the Demino marathon in the Worldloppet family. This is fateful for Rybinsk and everything sports world the event took place in June 2012 at the Worldloppet congress in Tartu (Estonia).

And already in 2013, the Rybinsk marathon, which grew from ski starts organized by amateurs into the largest in the country, hosted a large number of foreign athletes.

Then, according to the requirements of the marathon movement, a new route for the Demino marathon was approved. The 50-kilometer circle was laid not only on the territory sports tracks Demino. The large loop went through the Rybinsk-Tutaev regional highway. During the race, the highway was blocked for cars, and the 12-meter-wide asphalt road was covered with a 50-centimeter snow cushion. This is the first time such a 50-kilometer one-lap track has been created for the Worldloppet marathon in Russia.

1600 skiers from 24 countries came to the start, among which more than three hundred participants are foreigners. Famous marathon runners, eminent athletes, Worldloppet masters visited Rybinsk. It was the absolute record of the decade among the competitions in Russia in cross-country skiing.

In the first Russian marathon included in world series, 70 skiers with the title of Worldloppet master, the highest title that all marathon runners on the planet strive for, participated. Only during the days of the marathon, 100 sports documents were issued - passports of the Worldloppet master.

The Demino marathon also distinguished itself with an innovation - medals that outwardly looked very similar to the Olympic ones.

In the year of little snow in 2014, warm weather did not allow creating not only a natural snow track, but also keeping a specially formed pillow of artificial snow. Due to the stable positive temperatures in February and March, unfortunately for many skiers and fans, the organizers had to cancel the Demino marathon. But such a forced stop on the way only spurred the people of Rybinsk. And already in 2015, the best skiers-marathon runners of the country and the world were again met in Demino.

VIII Demino ski marathon of the elite Worldloppet series brought together more than two thousand athletes and skiing enthusiasts - representatives of 25 countries of the world and 52 regions of Russia. 1429 participants entered the start of the "golden" fifty-kilometer distance. Half an hour before the main start, the Norwegian skier Ole Herman Roenvik, who competes in wheelchair. The Demino marathon was the final start of all 16 Worldloppet marathons for him, which allowed him to become the Worldloppet Global Master.

World-famous athletes led the race: Alexey Petukhov - world champion, bronze medalist Olympics in Vancouver, Evgeny Dementiev - Olympic champion, Alexander Panzhinsky - silver medalist of the winter Olympic Games 2010, Natasha Leonardi-Cortesi - Olympic medalist, world champion in ski mountaineering.

In 2015, there were changes in the marathon race itself. In addition to the traditional half marathon and the 50 km freestyle marathon, for the first time in the history of the Worldloppet elite series marathons, a 50 km marathon with a change of skis was held. 200 athletes were able to take part in it. For changing clothes at the stadium, special pit boxes were installed.

In 2016, 1,600 people took part in the gold race of the Demino Marathon. Marathon runners who conquered the Demino slopes in previous years recommend it to their friends. So, for example, a marathon runner from India, Dr. Pritam Singh, became a participant. He started in both the gold and silver races of the cross-country skiing event.

The jubilee Demino marathon in 2017 brought together two thousand professionals and amateurs of skiing, representing 55 regions of Russia and 18 countries of the world. The winners of the Deaflympics in 2007 and 2015 Vladimir Mayorov and Lyubov Misharina took part in the competitions for the first time. About 10 thousand spectators came to see the main sporting event of winter. For the anniversary marathon, the organizers have prepared special medals of the original design.

XI traditional Rostec Demino ski marathon FIS / Worldloppet on March 3 and 4 promises guests and participants a rich sports and entertainment program. More than 2,200 athletes from 20 countries have already signed up. big race a great country unites people!

RYBINSK (Yaroslavl region), March 13 - R-Sport, Veronika Stolbunova. The FIS International Demino Ski Marathon ended on Sunday. The main race of the traditional competition took place on 12 March. More than 1.6 thousand participants started at a distance of 50 kilometers, among which were the 2006 Olympic champion Evgeny Dementiev, the bronze medalist of the 2010 Games and the 2013 world champion in the team sprint Alexei Petukhov, as well as the bronze medalist of the 2010 Olympics in the team sprint Nikolay Morilov.

Main race

Dementiev justified the hopes of the fans and became the winner of the marathon, covering the distance in 1 hour 45 minutes 1 second, which is a record for the Demino marathon. Last year, for example, best result the race was 1 hour 48 minutes. The second place was taken by Raul Shakirzyanov, and the third place by Alexei Petukhov. Nikolai Morilov stopped a step away from the pedestal.

Russia starts the fight for medals in the FIS ski marathon in DeminoThe track for competitions with a view of the Volga passes in two circles of 25 kilometers. Despite the fact that the weather in the central region of Russia has reached a positive mark in recent days, this did not affect the ski track.

"Everything was great, the track is very good, the atmosphere is great, I feel good. Today I managed to win thanks to good skis, good health and great desire. The most difficult moment of the track was at the 15th kilometer, when I started to take off, I had to suffer a little. The track is great, fast, solid, which suits me well. I am participating in the Demino marathon for the second time, and I like to come here," Dementyev told R-Sport after the finish.

Among women, the Tyumen skier Olga Rocheva has the best result (1:54.40). Anastasia Vlasova came second, and Natalia Zernova closed the top three.

"I think that I managed to win today at the expense of great experience. I have been training since the age of 12. I finished running, my child is a year and two months old, but this year I suddenly started running again, ”Rocheva said after the R-Sport race.

Ideal track

Despite the fact that early spring came to the central region of the country, worries about the condition of the track did not pay off. The organizers worked hard, snow groomers worked on the route day and night, which paid off - the track was excellent.

"The track was very fast, the condition of the track was just wonderful, despite the weather. Many thanks to the organizers for doing a great job," said Morilov.

"In connection with in early spring we had some problems, but the organizers of the competition successfully coped with this thanks to their professionalism. This is not the first year when we have an early spring, we have experience. The track is close to ideal,” Alexander Nechaev, Deputy Governor of the Yaroslavl Region, told reporters.

Day two: on the track with a baby

On the second day there was a race among children, as well as a marathon at a distance of 25 kilometers.

In addition to the children, Morilov went to the start in the "baby marathon" and walked a kilometer track with his one-month-old child. Petukhov's eldest son Ivan, who is six years old, also entered the track, and the world champion himself went through the race with his second son Andrei, who was not yet two years old.

Nikolai Bolotov won the 25 km marathon. Andrey Zhogin came second, and Sergey Yachkov closed the top three.

"I fell in love with the Rybinsk land since childhood, there is always a Russian-positive atmosphere here, I really like it here. In Demino, the stadium was reconstructed, created good conditions for athletes, works here good man Alexander Anatolyevich Ignatiev, who always invites you to marathons and is always glad to see us. We come here not only for the results, but also for the emotions that are missing during the season," Petukhov said in an interview with R-Sport.

The first race in Demino took place in 2007, and since 2012 the marathon has been included in the international Worldloppet series.
