Football team plane crash today. Fallen from the sky

In Colombia, near Medellin, a plane crashed with 72 passengers, among whom were the players of the Brazilian club Chapecoense, who were to take part in the first final match of the Copa Sudamericana against the Colombian Atlético Nacional.

Right now, 75 deaths are known. Famous full list people who got on board - in addition to the players and the crew of the aircraft (there were 9 crew members), the leaders of the Chapecoense, the coaching staff, technical staff, journalists and guests of honor were present. Among the passengers was the son of Paulo Paixao, former coach CSKA in physical training.

What team crashed?

Chapecoense is a little-known team in Russia, there are no players familiar to our fans playing for it. Chapecoense languished at the bottom for a long time, in Serie D, left it in 2009, and in 7 years reached the final of the South American Cup. This fall, Chapecoense reached such a high point for the first time in history. The match in Colombia was to be the most important in club history ...

How did it happen?

Citing Colombian sources, the Brazilian Globo reports that the plane lost contact with the ground shortly after midnight and crashed 30 km before its scheduled arrival. Controllers lost contact with the pilots as the plane flew over the cities of La Seja and Aberhorral. The missing aircraft began flying at 15:35 local time from Sao Paulo, landing in Eastern Bolivia, in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The plane crashed in the city of La Union, 30 km from Medellin.

It did not explode largely thanks to the efforts of the crew - the pilots knew that the plane was running out of fuel and circled over the area. If not for this, the explosion would have been inevitable.

The first pictures have already been received from the scene.

Why did this happen?

Mayor of the City of La Seja Elkin Ospina stated that the cause of the plane crash was a lack of fuel. Another version, in an official release from the aviation authorities, says that the plane crashed due to electronics failure.

What was the team flying?

The Chapecoense flew on charter aircraft CP-2933. At the beginning of the month, the Argentina national team flew on it.

During the fall, the plane split in half. It is important that the SR-2933 has already suffered 10 air crashes, and most of them during the landing approach.

What do they say at the scene?

The rescue operation at Medellin airport is carried out by more than 90 rescuers from nearby cities - La Union, Rionegro, El Carmen de Vibroal and La Seja. Heavy rain complicates the situation. A state of emergency has been declared in the city, and Air Force helicopters are searching for surviving passengers. "It's hard to find survivors, it's wooded," says Hugo Botero Lopez, Mayor of La Union.

“We are working with local authorities in connection with the emergency situation that occurred with the Chapecoense aircraft,” the airport tweeted.

What do they write in Brazil?

Chapecoense published a short message on their official Facebook page: “Given the conflicting reports coming from various journalistic sources regarding the crash of the plane carrying the players of the Chapecoense team, we refrain from commenting and await official statements from the Colombian air authorities. May God be with our athletes, leaders, journalists and other members of the delegation.”
Flamengo's official twitter added the Chapecoense logo to their avatar and wrote: "The whole nation is with you."

Are there survivors?

Yes. Protector rushed to La Seja hospital Alan Ruschel rescued from the wreckage of the plane. It is reported that Alan has multiple fractures of bones, hips, lacerations of the head. In the hospital, he asked the doctors to keep his wedding ring, asked about the condition of loved ones. His wife, Amanda Ruschel, wrote on her Instagram: "Thank God Alan is in the hospital in a stable condition."

The second survivor is the Chapecoense goalkeeper Danilo Padilla. It is surprising that before the flight, Rushel posted his photo from the board on Instagram - just with Danilo. Third - Jackson Vollmann. WITH serious injury head hospitalized defender Neto.

Another survivor already taken to the hospital is a flight attendant Jimena Suarez.

Another 9 Chapecoense players, according to Globo Esporte, did not fly to the match and avoided a plane crash.

Soccer.ru wishes courage to the survivors of the plane crash with the Brazilian club on board, and we pay tribute to players from different eras. Footballers from England, Italy and the USSR have been linked to horrific crashes, and Messi flew a crashed plane this month.

Aerophobia is a common fear, even if the chance of dying in a plane crash is sixty times lower than getting hurt while crossing a road or being in a car. But who needs numbers when the fear of death is in the foreground? Yes, only one in a million air passengers can be involved in a crash, and in most cases you need to be on board an old ship over Africa. However each such tragedy is very painfully perceived.

Road accidents happen, unfortunately, every day. Thousands of people are killed and maimed. Plane crashes are rarer and have the world's attention. Now, unfortunately, there is another reason to set the number one task for all aircraft designers of the world - to ensure a safe landing for the aircraft even in the event of engine failure and to simplify the work of pilots, to automate risk assessment. And for football, this issue is important, because flights are an everyday part of the work of all clubs. Let's remember today those who were unlucky and who managed to survive.

It was estimated in the mid-forties, that is, immediately after the war, that for every million passengers there were 27 victims of disasters. Significantly more than now. Then there were fewer flights, and the planes were different. The great squad of "Torino" - four-time champions of Italy, died because in the fog the pilot could not understand at what height they were flying. They hit the fence of the Basilica of Superga on the hill with the wing, which led to the tragedy. On board were famous football players(including the father of Sandro Mazzola, the future legend of Inter), journalists, coaches, administrators and a fan of Torino, who hurried home to his sick wife and begged the stewardess.

Everyone died, the great coach Pozzo identified the remains, not allowing the relatives of the dead, so as not to injure them. And one of the Torino players did not fly from Lisbon (played with Benfica) to Turin due to an injury. Lauro Toma was lucky, he, together with the players of the Torino youth teams, eventually became the champion of Italy. The three rivals remaining until the end of the season fielded the youth team as a sign of respect.. But since the champions died, that title was the penultimate one in the history of the club. We hope Italian football will never experience something like this. Everyone is equally sorry, but the legends were not lucky here. Last year, FIFA proclaimed May 4 "calcio day" in memory of the terrible incident.

The most famous plane crash in football history. Films have been made, including the 2011 sports drama United with David Tennant, and historical investigations have been conducted. Often they remember victims who cannot be returned, but must not be forgotten. The plane was new, flying from Belgrade to Manchester, but it was necessary to refuel in Munich, after which another takeoff was coming. Engine junk, but decided on a third attempt to take off during a snowfall didn't want to waste time. As a result, the ship lost speed in the slush on the ground and crashed into a fence.

There were 44 people on board, 21 passengers died immediately, and the rest was helped out by surviving Manchester United goalkeeper Harry Greg. But not everyone survived, Duncan Edwards died in the hospital, although nine footballers survived that horror. Bobby Charlton and six others played after the disaster. Two failed, and Sir Matt Busby was in charge of the new Manchester United - he also ended up in the advantageous part of the plane. The club courageously took the blow and managed to prepare the "Baby Busby". Ten years after the disaster, the crew commander was acquitted - he was not to blame. In the same year, Manchester United Bobby Robson and George Best won the European Cup, the first for England.

Fifty-six years ago, just two years after the disaster in Munich, a plane with national football players on board crashed while landing at an airport in Denmark. Landings were carried out on the island, bad weather prevented the pilot from maintaining control of the aircraft. And fifty meters from the coast, a small aircraft - an old era aircraft with wings above and below, was in the water. All passengers died, and the fishermen managed to save the pilot, although he received a disability and amputation of his leg.

There were eight players on board, all officially considered amateurs, since according to the local rules, professionals who had gone abroad were not called up to the national team. They were preparing for the Olympics, most of them were young guys, from 19 to 23 years old. They worked as engineers, blacksmiths, mechanics, but from the Olympic team. And a strong team! Denmark has decided not to refuse to participate in the tournament in Rome. In memory of the partners, they reached the final, where they lost to the powerful Yugoslavia. The composition was composed of collections flying on the second plane, and one of them was removed from the ship that crashed as a result due to bad behavior. Such coincidences happen in almost every catastrophe.

Mountains are one of the causes of air crashes in South America. In the sixties, I had a chance to experience two major tragedies at once. In 1961, the team of the first division of the championship of Chile "Green Cross" from Santiago crashed in full force in the Las Lastimas mountain range in the Cordilleras. They were returning home after the match of the national championship ... And eight years later, in September 1969, 17 players and 3 coaches of Strongest, a multiple champion and very popular club in Bolivia, crashed in the Andes. In the first case, the icing of the wings and turbine blades affected. In the second, the mountains and incorrect calculation of the flight altitude could become the reason. Moreover, in this case we are dealing with a mass tragedy - a total of 78 people died, not only football players.

The history of Soviet football has its own terrible page - the death of Pakhtakor. A great tragedy, two Tu-134 planes collided in the air near Dneprodzerzhinsk, all 178 people did not survive. Here immediately a complex of fatal coincidences and errors. Both negligence and inexperience - the dispatcher was twenty years old, and his boss miscalculated the time. And he assigned the same height to two huge sides. The mistake was realized, panic began during the negotiations, everyone interrupted each other, the pilots misunderstood the commands of the controllers, who were eventually sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Cloudiness added, and a tragedy occurred that could have been avoided if one of the planes had flown next to the second 20 milliseconds earlier. 20 milliseconds at the speed of an airplane would make a difference! As a result, 17 football players, administrators and coaches of Pakhtakor, who flew to Tashkent from Minsk, were among the victims of the unforgettable crash. Including Mikhail An - a very talented midfielder. It was decided to strengthen the club with players from other teams, including the Spartak player and uncle Denis Glushakov, who moved to Pakhtakor. For Soviet and Uzbek football, that catastrophe is a wound forever.

Landing tragedy. On the plane, the sensor broke, which shows whether the landing gear is extended. The pilots first made sure that it was possible to land - they made a circle over the airport, and received confirmation from the ground that the wheels were in place. But then they did not calculate the landing approach height. Apparently there were other problems. a plane with 43 people - players, leaders and fans of the "Alliance" ended up in the ocean. Six miles north of Peru's capital, late afternoon, pilot error and a classified crash site, the authorities feared that the decrepit condition of the aircraft on the balance sheet of the Air Force would be linked to their methods of running the country.

Only many years later they began to talk about the details of the tragedy. The Alliance club has lost a promising line-up, but it is much worse that people died. All but one - the pilot survived. Moreover, the politicians were so cynical that they initially lied to the relatives of the victims, saying that the plane did not take off at all due to weather conditions. They were afraid that the ship was shot down by terrorists, and no one was allowed to reach the scene of the accident. As a result, conspiracy theories have been spawned - they say that fuel could have run out. For the Alliance, that tragedy in the football sense meant falling out of the championship struggle for ten years, although the legendary Teofilio Cubillas returned from the USA to play for the Alliance and help in any way he could.

The worst plane crash in the history of Suriname. And the biggest tragedy for Dutch football. After all, there were players from the Netherlands of Surinamese origin on board that flight from Amsterdam. They flew along with almost two hundred passengers, fifteen football players died, in total out of 187 people, only eleven survived. The cause of the crash was cited as crew error, as happens in most of these stories. During the landing approach, it was not possible to cope with the control. Moreover, stars of the first magnitude could also be on board.

The Dutch Surinamese flew to friendly matches with local clubs to support them. It was about the players of Twente, Ajax, Zwolle and NAC Breda. Although the most star Surinamese saved the greed of the clubs. The teams of Rijkaard, Gullit, Winter and Roy did everything to ensure that future legends, European champions and Golden Ball winners did not end up on that plane. But we are not evaluating the level of the players here. If a major England player dies, it is as great a tragedy as the death of young people from Holland. In Suriname, that event is not forgotten, and the six-year-old Romeo Castelin, later the midfielder of the Volga, then lost his mother and sister.

As stated above, African flights are much more likely to crash than over Europe or North America. In South America, mountains and cloud cover complicate the situation, but in the African case, airlines can save on aircraft maintenance and technical malfunctions often lead to death. Plus, the continent itself is huge, the distances are large. The plane that crashed 18 Zambian footballers was a 1975 model year, far from new.. He did not reach the coast of Gabon five hundred meters.

One of the engines caught fire, but the pilots mistakenly turned off the working - the light signal incorrectly showed a breakdown. As a result, a very promising squad of Zambia died - the "copper bullets" at the Olympics beat Italy 4-0, they dreamed of winning the African Cup and reaching the World Cup. The captain of that team and PSV player Kalusha Bwalia had to fly himself to Senegal separately. As a result, he survived, like a couple of legionnaires. A year later, the team assembled from the reservists reached the Cup final African nations, where she lost to Nigeria. But they became national heroes, and in 2012, Zambia won the final against the Ivorians at the stadium, which is located next to the crash site. Here are some coincidences.

Twenty days ago Argentina flew on the same plane to the match against Brazil. In the summer, Messi complained about the quality of the side of the national team at the America's Cup in the USA, which often breaks down. Just three weeks ago, Lionel, Di Maria, Higuain, Otamendi, Mascherano and their team-mates could have been on this list - a terrible coincidence. Today, each of them will reevaluate life. Unfortunately, after a happy twenty-three years without such major tragedies, another disaster struck. perished brazilian football players from the Chapecoense club. We were ninth in Serie A and flew to Colombia for the Copa Sudamericana game against Atlético Nacional. The local analogue of the Europa League, the game of international level. Now they write that the cause was either a malfunction of the aircraft, or weather conditions interfered. Since some of the people - 72 passengers and 9 crew members - managed to survive, it can be concluded that the pilots tried to land the ship and save at least someone.

Now rescued people and among them, according to information, three football players are in the hospital. Initially, ten victims were reported, who were sent to the hospital. A terrible page in the history of football. For twenty-three years it has been possible to get hundreds, thousands of football teams around the world to matches without incident. And these are children's teams, and stars of the first magnitude. We are very sorry for those who died in the Colombian disaster, we wish strength to their families and the will to live to the survivors. Let this case be the last of its kind for decades to come. Airlines and aircraft designers once again need to reconsider their attitude to costing - for a long time it is necessary not to be greedy and invest in testing modern systems safe landing in case of malfunction. Yes, a task for genius engineers, yes, it's expensive, but people's lives are at stake. Brazilian football players died today, but you understand who could have been in their place in early November - the Argentina national team. A terrible page in the history of football and one more reason not to forget how important it is to control every technical detail when you take responsibility for someone else's life in the air.

On Tuesday, November 29, a plane crashed in the province of Antioquia in Colombia, carrying 81 people, including footballers from the Brazilian club Chapecoense, which plays in the top division of the national championship. Lenta.ru recalls other plane crashes that cost the lives of entire sports teams.

FC Torino, May 4, 1949

Turin "Torino" at that time was considered a grand Italian football. Club owner Ferruzio Novo professionalized the search for football talent, and after the end of the Second World War, the team won the national championship three times in a row (1946, 1947, 1948).

The tragedy happened when the Turintians were returning from Lisbon, where they spent friendly match with the local Benfica (3:4). A three-engine Fiat G.212CP crashed due to pilot error, which lost control in bad weather conditions. There was very little left before landing when the plane touched the fence of the Superga Basilica built on the hill with its wing. The car swerved and crashed into the ground at high speed. There were 31 people on board, all died. From the main team, only one player survived - Lauro Toma, who did not fly to Portugal due to injury.

Manchester United FC, 6 February 1958

The Airspeed AS.57 Ambassador of the British airline British European Airways with the players of the English "Manchester United" on board crashed at Munich Airport. In total, there were 44 people on the plane - players, coaches, journalists.

Manchester United was returning from Belgrade, where they played the European Champions Cup match against the local Red Star. The plane refueled in Munich, but failed to take off twice in heavy snow conditions. The crew commander decided to make another attempt, the plane did not gain the necessary speed, rolled out of the runway and crashed into a wooden hangar, in which there was a truck with fuel. There was an explosion. 21 people died on the spot.

FC Pakhtakor, August 11, 1979

By the end of the 1970s, the Tashkent Pakhtakor was one of the most popular Soviet football clubs. On August 11, 1979, the Aeroflot TU-134 aircraft, carrying 14 players, a second coach, an administrator and a team doctor, was flying Tashkent - Minsk. "Pakhtakor" had a match of the championship of the USSR with Minsk "Dynamo".

The tragedy occurred in the sky over Dneprodzerzhinsk. An inexperienced air traffic controller noticed late that the aircraft was approaching dangerously in the air with another TU-134 en route from Chelyabinsk to Chisinau. The pilots were given the command to disperse, but they did not have time to react. The wing of one of the planes pierced the fuselage of the other, both machines exploded in the air. 178 passengers of both flights, including 17 Pakhtakor players and coaches, died.

12 days after the disaster, the surviving Pakhtakor footballers continued their performances in the USSR championship, thus paying tribute to the dead teammates.

Zambia national football team, April 27, 1993

The football team of the country had an away match qualifying tournament for the 1994 World Cup with Senegal. Due to funding cuts, the team was forced to lease a Buffalo DHC-5D aircraft from the Zambian Air Force. When the car flew over the coast of Gabon, one of the engines caught fire. The plane lost control and crashed into the sea. All 30 people on board were killed, including 18 football players.

The tragedy rallied the Zambian national team. In 1994, the team won silver, and in 1996 - bronze medals of the African Cup of Nations.

HC Lokomotiv, September 7, 2011

Yaroslavl "Locomotive" was heading to Minsk for the match of the regular season of the Continental Hockey League with the local "Dynamo". The game, scheduled for September 8, was supposed to be the first in the new season for Yaroslavl.

The Yak-42 aircraft was taking off at the Yaroslavl airport Tunoshna. The liner was unable to gain a safe height (it climbed 5-6 meters), crashed into the lighthouse antenna 435 meters from the runway and crashed to the ground. There were 45 people on board the plane, 43 died on the spot.

At the tail end of the cabin were 26-year-old railroad striker Alexander Galimov and engineer for aviation and electronic equipment Alexander Sizov. Both were not fastened, and during the crash they were thrown into the Tunoshonka River. When the athlete was found, he was conscious and was able to give his name to the police. He was hospitalized at the A.V. Vishnevsky with burns to 90 percent of the body. He died five days later.

Sizov was hospitalized with burns on 15 percent of his body, fractures of both hips, cranial vault, ribs and injuries chest. On the day of the tragedy, he, along with Galimov, was transported to Moscow by plane of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. At the Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine, the victim was put into a medical sleep so that he would avoid a state of shock. Sizov recovered and worked after that as an aircraft engineer at the Yakovlev Design Bureau in Zhukovsky.

Lokomotiv was forced to spend one season at the Higher hockey league(VHL), after which he returned to the KHL.

The Brazilian team Chapecoense was heading to Medellin for the first final match of the Copa Sudamericana against Colombian Atlético Nacional. For the not particularly shining Chapecoense, the game could become truly historic. But already on approach to Medellin, the crew reported a malfunction in electrical equipment. Airplane .

Juan Carlos de la Cuesta, president of Atlético Nacional: “We are sorry. We mourn deeply. We really hurt. At this moment, our hearts are with the Chapicoense club, with the families of its players, staff and management."

Unfortunately, Chapicoense is by no means the only sports team that died in a plane crash almost in its entirety. In 1958, the tragedy of Manchester United shook the world. And in the Soviet Union in 1979, the Tashkent football team Pakhtakor crashed. Tu-134, flying to Minsk for the next championship match, collided in the sky with another passenger plane due to an error of dispatchers. The tragedy claimed 178 lives.

Real Madrid honored the memory of the Brazilian Chapecoense with a minute of silence. And the fans of Atlético Nacional, who were preparing to cheer against the Brazilians, are now ready to dress themselves in the colors of failed rivals.

According to media reports, The team was going to arrive in Medellin by charter, but then plans changed. Nine players of the team, who have every reason to celebrate their second birthday on November 29th. And the son of the head coach did not get on the fatal flight, having forgotten his passport at home.

In Brazil announced three days of mourning. Medellin's Atlético Nacional have proposed declaring Chapecoense the winners of the Copa Sudamericana, notes NTV correspondent Harry Knyagnitsky.

It's hard to remember this. But fate cannot be changed. Six years ago, at 16:00, a Yak-42D airliner crashed into the bank of the Tunoshonka River. So perished hockey team"Locomotive".

I remember that day like I do now.

The season opened in Ufa, where the match for the Opening Cup between Salavat Yulaev and Atlant took place. An hour before the game, a press conference was held by the KHL president and sponsors. Everyone was in high spirits, because we had gathered for the holiday.
A quarter of an hour before the throw-in, they went to their places. Stuck on computers...
And suddenly the terrible news began to spread like spilled ink on a white sheet of paper.

- Have you seen it? The plane with the Lokomotiv crashed...

- Are you kidding! How…

- What if it's a mistake? Someone launched a duck?

- There are no such ducks ...

Call someone on the team!

But the phones were silent. And the news fell. Details, facts. It was very painful.

“At 16.00 near Yaroslavl, during takeoff from the Tunoshna airport…”

All this happened in the room where the commentators sit. And below on the ice there was a game. Salavat Yulaev defender Andrey Kuteikin fired a beautiful shot from the blue line, scoring the first goal of the season.

There, behind the glass, life was still in full swing. Shel hockey. Maybe we've been played absurdly after all?
But a cold whisper was already crawling through the stands. The match was stopped. A pale Alexander Medvedev appeared near the owner's shop. I will never forget his speech. And I can’t imagine how difficult it was to announce this to the whole world.

“A terrible tragedy happened today. The plane crashed, on board of which there were Lokomotiv hockey players, club administrators and coaches. Of the 37 people, only one survived. Whether to continue the match or not, we will decide during the break. I ask you to honor the memory of the dead with a minute of silence.

Everything inside finally turned over, flew down somewhere. Many hockey players cried like children. They were taken to the dressing rooms.

The Atlanta players went to church. They crashed Jan Marek, speaking in the final of last season. He moved to Lokomotiv in such a hurry that they did not manage to award him a silver medal.

It was terrible in Ufa, and Yaroslavl generally turned black from trouble. Colleagues who were there, forever crashed into the memory of heavy rain in the dead of night. And the flashing lights of cars near the mortuary of the Solovyov Hospital, where the charred bodies of the players were brought, who were taken from the river. There was an identification...

And next to the "Arena-2000" hills of flowers have grown. Photos of guys, burning candles. No downpour could extinguish them.

There was a glimmer of hope that Alexander Galimov would survive. Terribly burned, doctors tried to save him. Transportation to Moscow. But the miracle didn't happen. Sasha left after five days ...

That plane crash hooked everyone, broke the sprawling crack in the lives of families, very many people. Citizens of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Sweden, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Canada were killed in that plane. Nine countries. And everyone was united by a common grief.

Remember September 7th. Here it is, in detail. Come to the Leontief cemetery in Yaroslavl. To other places where the guys found their last rest.

What can we give them now? Only memory. And respect. So, I can’t imagine why the school named after Ivan Tkachenko has not yet been built in Yaroslavl, over which the poor father of the Lokomotiv captain has been fighting for many years. The results of the investigation into why the plane crashed also raise questions. The tragedy was overgrown with rumors that turned into myths. But there is no clear answer...

Live for the living. And don't forget the crew that crashed on takeoff on that black Wednesday.

Everlasting memory.
