The city where the Summer Olympic Games were held. Ticket prices

The preparations for the 2016 Games are the worst I have ever seen... But we have no other plan B. So we're going to Rio.

Vice President of the IOC

The 2016 Summer Olympics are the main sporting event of the four years Ancient Greece. Then it was both a sporting and religious event. But after 394 AD. competition fell under the disgrace of the authorities.

Only at the end of the 19th century the Games were resumed. Since then, since 1986, 22 Winter and 30 Summer Olympics have taken place in the world. The next Summer Olympic Games 2016 will be held in Brazil. This is the first Olympics in South America.

Choice of the host country and problems of organization

Eight countries have applied to host the Games. In addition to Brazil, Azerbaijan, Spain, the Czech Republic, Qatar, Japan, the USA and Russia fought for the right to host the Games. Three countries indicated in their applications cities that were not their capitals. These were: Russia (St. Petersburg), USA (Chicago) and Brazil (Rio de Janeiro). St. Petersburg withdrew the application, because a month and a half after the application was submitted, another city (Sochi) received the right to hold Winter Games 2014.

Four applicants got to the final part of the race: Madrid, Tokyo, Chicago and Rio de Janeiro. Voting took place in three stages. With each of them, one applicant was eliminated. As a result, there were only two left: Rio de Janeiro and Madrid.

With a double advantage during the final vote in October 2009, Rio de Janeiro won. In 2014, information appeared that the venue for the 2016 Summer Olympics could be changed. The reason for the rumors was the frequent statements by IOC officials about non-compliance by the host country with the deadlines for the delivery of facilities for competitions.

The media considered London, which hosted the competition in 2012, and Moscow as an alternative to hosting the Games. But despite problems with the organization, IOC officials said that the Games will be held in Rio de Janeiro, and there is no talk of postponing the competition.

The Brazilians, after the approval of the candidacy of Rio de Janeiro, decided that the 2016 Summer Olympics will be held on the territory of four zones of the city.

Mascot and logo of the Games

The talisman of the future Olympics was an animal named Vinicius and a plant named Tom. Both mascots represent the diverse flora and fauna of Brazil. Vinicius is the epitome of all the animals that live in Brazil, "born from an explosion of joy" that the country was chosen as the capital of the Olympics. The volume personifies the symbol of the Paralympic Games and is a mixture of plants.

The theme of the Brazilian flag is clearly traced in the colors of the mascots. The official logo of the Olympics is an image of three dancing human figures in orange, green and blue. They all hold hands. Below is the inscription "RIO 2016" and the symbol of all the Olympic Games - five rings connected to each other.

301 medals will be awarded at the Olympics in 40 sports disciplines. For the first time, rugby sevens, which is a simplified form of this game, was included in the program of the Summer Games. Also for the first time since 1904 at the Summer Olympics the tournament will take place on golf. This sport was once excluded from the Olympics, but by decision of the IOC, by voting in 2009, this status was returned to it.

Otherwise, the 2016 Summer Olympics will follow the same sports program like the previous Olympics.

The well-known Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva plans to perform in Rio de Janeiro. Elena twice became the champion of the Olympic Games (2004 and 2008). After a bronze podium at the 2012 London Olympics, she announced that she was suspending sports career and make the final decision on the performance at the next Games Later..

The American swimmer, 18-time Olympic champion Michael Phelps, who retired in 2012 and returned to sports in 2014, intends to take part in the Games in Brazil, setting the 2016 Summer Olympics as his goal.

Going to the Olympics as a Volunteer

To do this, you need to register on the official website of the Games and submit an application. In May 2015, casting began at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games. It will run until November 2015. During this period, interviews will take place, following which, in November 2015, there will be a meeting of the participants with the artistic group, which will select the most liked applicants with an invitation in April 2016 to Brazil for rehearsal events.

Participants must be at least 16 years of age as of April 1, 2016. The ticket to Brazil is paid by the volunteer himself.

Tickets for the competition went on sale at the beginning of 2015. So, the price of tickets for the Olympic Games in Brazil ranges from 17 to 1300 dollars. For the opening ceremony, the cheapest tickets cost $57 or BRL 200 depending on the exchange rate.

The most expensive tickets (1200 reais or $341) will be sold for athletics and volleyball competitions, the cheapest (40 reais or $11) for open water swimming, field hockey, shooting, weightlifting and race walking.

All tickets can be purchased through the online portal "Rio 2016 Tickets" after registration. There are no direct flights between Russia and Brazil. Direct flights to Galleon Airport can be reached from airports in Europe. These can be: Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Lisbon, Madrid, Rome, London and Istanbul.

A trip to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro will require large financial costs for at least one flight, but despite the financial side of the issue and the initial problems with the organization, the 2016 Summer Olympics promise to be grand sporting event year worth visiting at least once in a lifetime.

August 14, 2016.

On the ninth day of competition Russian athletes won 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Greco-Roman wrestler Roman Vlasov (up to 75 kg), gymnast Aliya Mustafina (bars) and tennis players Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina ( doubles). Gymnast Maria Paseka (vault) and shooter Sergei Kamensky (rifle, 50m, three positions) won silver, cyclist Denis Dmitriev (individual sprint) and yachtswoman Stefania Elfutina (RS:X) won bronze.

Russia has the first medal in sailing since 1996. In the RS:X class (windsurfing), 19-year-old Stefania Elfutina won bronze.

The Frenchwoman Charlene Picon became the Olympic champion, the silver went to the Chinese Chen Payne.

Stefania Elfutina from the very first day, August 8, joined the fight for medals and never lost contact with the leaders. After the first day of competition, she was second, after half of the scheduled flights - third, a day later she was one point closer to the leader of the regatta - Flavia Tartaglini from Italy. According to the results of the penultimate racing day, Elfutina took the lead overall standings. Alas, after one of the numerous protests, Tartaglini got an extra point and caught up with Elfutina. And since she has a victory in one of the flights, and the Russian woman does not, the Italian has returned the leading position.

The line-up for the Medal Race, a "medal race" where all points are doubled, was as follows: Tartaglini - first (55 points), Elfutina - second (55), from third to fifth places were occupied by the Chinese Chen, the Frenchwoman Picon and the Israeli Davidovich (60 points each). ). It turned out that in a bad scenario, the Russian woman could have been left without medals at all, especially considering that she scored all the points due to stability, never winning a single flight in the entire regatta.

Officially, the Women's Medal Race in the "RS:X" class was supposed to start at 14:05 local time, but time passed, conflicting information came in, and nothing started. Finally at 15:35 the start was given. The wind was not strong - about 10 knots (15 is considered good). But a red flag was lit in front of Elfutina. All rivals went into the race, and the Russian woman had just started.

“I am very ashamed, but I still don’t understand why I was given a warning,” Elfutin told reporters after Elfutina: “There are no complaints against the judges, which means she deserved it. But what exactly happened, I don't know right now."

Probably, only she knows that it cost her half an hour almost calm to rise from the last, tenth, to sixth place, overtaking the favorite, Tartaglini, and snatch this bronze: “I just thought that I had two options: give up and wait another four years or do something about it. And then I decided: no, four years is too much, I’ll try now.”

She was desperately "gliding", trying to accelerate and get far-gone rivals! Of course, it was lucky that the wind was very weak: Elfutina is good in such weather thanks to physical strength, and this allows her to keep the board in “planing” much longer than her rivals (she says that she calmly does 20-25 pull-ups, but maybe more).

Absolutely - this moment will go down in the history of our sailing.

Aliya Mustafina is a two-time Olympic champion.

She was ahead of her main rival American Madison Kochyan in the uneven bars exercise by 0.067 points. Bronze medalist was the German Sophie Scheder.

"Everything went well," Aliya said after the performance: "Moreover, I think it was my best combination of the four made at the Olympics. It turned out cleaner than the rest. I collected this combination when I arrived here in Rio. Trained from base 6 5, but performed from a base of 6.8.I came to the hall one day and realized that I didn’t want to perform with a simple program, that I would gather all my strength and do a complex one.

In the all-around, I did not show my maximum on three shells at once - on the balance beam, on the uneven bars and in floor exercises. But on the other hand, it would be very difficult for me to overtake the Americans, only in case of their mistakes it was possible.

Less than a year is left before the opening of the next Summer Olympic Games. Main sports four years will start on August 5, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro at the Maracanã Stadium. For the first time, the Olympics will be held in South America.

Summer Olympic Games-2016were far from the first application for such a competition in Brazil. Previously, Rio de Janeiro claimed to host the Olympics in 1936, 1940, 2004 and 2012. Attempts to host the main Games were successful for Rio only for the fifth time. In addition to Brazil, Madrid (Spain), Tokyo (Japan) and Chicago (USA) also competed for the right to host the XXXI Summer Games. Interestingly, at the first stage, St. Petersburg also fought for the possibility of holding the Summer Olympic Games. However, in the summer of 2007, after the city of Sochi received the right to host the 2014 Winter Games, the northern capital withdrew from this race.

The cheapest seats at the grand opening ceremony will cost viewers $86, while the price of the most expensive reaches up to $2,000. The average ticket price for the competition is $30.

The official cost of preparing for the Olympics in Brazil today is 2.9 billion dollars. The amount differs significantly from the originally announced - 1.8 billion. The organizers attributed the significant increase to inflation, the addition of new species to the program, and an unforeseen increase in the cost of equipping the Olympic village.

SYMBOLS OF RIO 2016

Emblem of the XXXI Olympic Games, according to its creators, symbolizes Rio de Janeiro itself. The symbol of the future Games is based on the three colors of the national flag of Brazil, and the sinuous lines represent the sea, the sun, the mountains and the silhouettes of people dancing together.

- Vinicius and Tom- presented back in November 2014. The names of the patrons of the Games were given in honor of famous Brazilian musicians. The characters are collective images of the richest flora and fauna of a tropical country. Olympic mascot depicted as a smiling yellow beast Vinicius, similar to a cat. Tom, resembling a cross between a flower and a tree, is the mascot of the Paralympic Games, the personification of the Brazilian flora.

OLYMPIC FIRE

The traditional lighting of the fire will take place on April 21, 2016 in Greece. The flames will be delivered to the capital of the Games by a special flight by air by April 27, and will start on May 3 olympic torch relay "Rio 2016". It is planned to involve 12 thousand torchbearers in it. The length of the walking route for each of the participants will be about 200 meters. The total length of the route will be 20 and 16 thousand km by land and air, respectively.

The relay will take place almost throughout Brazil, and almost 90% of the country's inhabitants will have the opportunity to see this event. The end of the long journey of the Olympic flame will be the grand opening of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

OLYMPIC VENUES

Sports venues the organizers divided into four zones: Copacabana, Maracana, Deodoro and Barra.

Copacabana as one of the most famous beaches in the world, will be an area predominantly for aquatic species. There will be medals in sailing, open water swimming, triathlon, rowing, as well as cycling (highway), walking and marathon.

Maracana zone named after its central sports facility - the famous football stadium. It is at the Maracana stadium that the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games, as well as football competitions, will be held. Except sports grounds Barra houses the Olympic Park and the Olympic Village, as well as press and television centers.

Before the opening of the Olympic Games, by sports standards, the wait is not so long - less than a year! In some sports, the struggle for tickets to the main starts of the four-year period is already in full swing. It is too early to talk about possible results and make any predictions. However, fans of the Russian team believe that very soon the next Olympic Games will write new Russian names in the history of world sports.

The Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) will be held in 2016 and will be held from 5 to 21 August. This Olympics is notable in that it will be the first Olympic Games to be hosted by South America. And now, among the unconquered continents, not counting Antarctica, only Africa remains, which has never hosted this large-scale event.

How did Rio become the capital?

Eight cities initially competed for the 2016 Olympics, but four finalists were selected for the final vote: Madrid (Spain), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Tokyo (Japan) and Chicago (USA). The choice of the capital took place in Copenhagen (Denmark) at the 121st session of the IOC on October 2, 2009.

Voting took place in the maximum number of rounds - three. And only in the first round there was a tense struggle among the candidate cities, in which Madrid won with a small margin from the rest. The second and third rounds were held with a clear advantage of the Brazilian Rio de Janeiro, which was declared the capital of the XXXI Olympic Games.

Jacques Rogge announces Rio de Janeiro as the host of the 2016 Olympic Games.

Note that this was not the first attempt by Rio to host the Olympics. Rio de Janeiro applied to host the 1936, 1940, 2004 and 2012 Summer Olympics, but was never even included in the final vote.

Conditions

The competition will take place during the calendar winter in South America. The temperature during this period ranges from +18 to +25 °C. The time difference between Moscow and Rio de Janeiro is 6 hours. The climate is hot and humid, a bit like.

Competition program

At the same session of the IOC, when Rio became the capital of the Games, it was decided to include in the program of the Olympic Games rugby sevens and golf, which are not new to the Games, but their absence has been measured for many decades. Golf returned to the program after 112 years, and rugby after 92 years. Thus, this did not greatly change the competitive program of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro compared to previous summer ones.

Talismans

The mascots of the Games are two animals representing the flora and fauna of Brazil. One talisman is yellow in color and symbolizes the brightest and most common representatives of the animal world of Brazil - a monkey and a parrot. The second beast has become a collective image of the Brazilian flora; in its features one can recognize both elements of wood and elements of a flower.

Hosting the 2016 Olympics

Applications for this large-scale event began to be submitted in 2007. Such countries as the USA, Azerbaijan, Japan, Spain, Qatar, Brazil and the Czech Republic took part in the competition. As a result, four finalist cities were selected: Rio de Janeiro, Chicago, Madrid and Tokyo. In 2009, after several rounds, the International Olympic Committee finally decided where the Olympiad would be held and chose the winner - city in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro.

Rio de Janeiro

Up to this point, the country has applied several times, but never reached the final. According to rough data, more than 12,000 athletes from 205 countries will take part in the games. 306 sets of medals will be played. The event currently has a budget of $2.93 billion, excluding government funding for infrastructure development at the Olympic venue. This amount is associated with rising inflation, the use of the most innovative technologies, as well as changing the rules in some programs.

It should be noted that the competition program has not undergone any global changes, compared to previous Games that took place in Great Britain, however, it has been slightly expanded. The following sports have been added to it: beach soccer, golf, street basketball and a simplified version of rugby. The 2016 Rio Olympics will be the world's first environmentally friendly competition.

Especially for this event, the Swiss company RAFAA built a large-scale artificial waterfall, powered by solar panels, and accumulating solar energy throughout the daylight hours. It is assumed that the performance of this unique design will be sufficient to provide electricity not only Olympic village but also the city itself. What else distinctive features will have the Summer Olympics in 2016? The city authorities introduced a unique system of movement Bus Rapid Transit. This modern vehicle will deliver people to various sports objects, moving along specially dedicated lanes that connect the western and northern regions of Rio de Janeiro.

Olympic venues

The organizers of the event have identified several main areas for the competition.

Most of the sports will take place in barre. For these purposes, several Olympic facilities have been built here. In the Maria Lenk Water Park, it is planned to hold competitions in diving, as well as water polo. Sports and rhythmic gymnastics will be held at the Olympic Arena. For sports such as boxing and weightlifting, a separate zone will be allocated - the Riocenter. IN Olympic halls basketball competitions and various types martial arts. In addition, there is a Tennis Center and Velodorom in Barra.

The following sports competitions are planned to be held in this zone:

  • rowing slalom;
  • mountain bike;
  • shooting;
  • pentathlon;
  • fencing;
  • equestrian competition.

This large-scale object is one of the most popular football stadiums worldwide. It is here that the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games will be held, as well as the football championship, in which not only Rio de Janeiro, but also other Brazilian cities will take part. In addition, the area hosts the João Havelange facility where athletics will be held, and sports complex Maracanazinho designed for volleyball competitions. Especially for members of the press, small Olympic villages will be built in Maracanã, Barra and Deodoro.

Copacabana is one of the most beautiful and famous beaches in the world, where the organizers plan to host the following water competitions:

  • sailing;
  • swimming;
  • triathlon;
  • rowing.

Symbols and talismans

The 2016 Olympics will be held under the auspices of the talismans, which are collective images of the Brazilian flora and fauna: a yellow animal resembling a cat in appearance, as well as a blue-green plant, which has the features of an exotic tree and flower. As a result of voting conducted on the Internet, the talismans received names Volume And Vinicius, in honor of famous Brazilian musicians.

When developing the visual image of the Olympic Games, the main goal of the designers was to create a solemn and festive atmosphere for the guests of Rio de Janeiro. It shows the main attributes and values of the city, as well as elements that emphasize its variability and passion. In addition, the image reflects the places of famous Brazilian cities that will host football competitions in 2016: Belo Horizonte, Brasilia and Sao Paulo. The visual image of the Olympics can be seen on posters, tickets, as well as on all sports facilities where competitions will be held. Medals for athletes will be made from precious metals obtained from the processing of electrical appliances. Brazil plans to release approx. 5000 medals for awarding and 75,000 commemorative medals.

A question of price

Many sports fans are concerned about the question, how much do tickets for the 2016 Olympics, held in Brazil, cost? The organizers of the event provided information that the price of the cheapest ticket will be 14 euros, and the most expensive - 420 euros. As you know, the most grandiose and memorable event is the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games. In order to get to it, the guests of the event will have to spend at least 1000 euros. It will be possible to purchase tickets in early 2015 on a specialized website.

Volunteering

The organizers of the 2016 Olympics plan to attract about 60,000 volunteers. The application deadline was until the end of 2014. Anyone over 18 could offer their services, regardless of nationality and gender. Special online trainings will be held with the selected candidates, where they will be introduced to the features of the work performed, as well as the place where sports competitions should be held. During the games, all volunteers will be provided with free meals and appropriate equipment. However, they need to get to Rio at their own expense. After the end of the event, all volunteers will receive certificates and exclusive gifts.

Ready for the Olympics

It is worth noting that at present the International Olympic Committee believes that Brazil is not fully prepared to host this event, as the organizers do not have enough funds for this, as a result of which they do not meet the deadlines. The IOC also notes that the financing of all preparatory work is carried out with great delays. Many sports facilities in the country have not yet been completed, moreover, in Rio de Janeiro, the necessary infrastructure is still lacking and there is a shortage of rooms in hotel complexes.
In addition, Guanabara Bay, where sport competitions in canoeing and kayaking, as well as in sailing, heavily polluted, and the Brazilian authorities are currently cleaning it up. However, the Olympic Committee says that all contamination will be removed by the start of the ceremony. Information appeared in the press that the venue Summer Olympics may be changed in 2016. According to some information, representatives of the IOC have already asked their colleagues from the UK whether it is possible to organize this event in London, to which they received an answer that the city is able to host the Olympic Games for the second time in a row. However, no there have been no official statements about this yet. At present, the International Olympic Committee has taken a number of decisions aimed at stabilizing the situation. Its representatives expressed their readiness to help the Brazilian organizers implement part of the projects, as well as constantly monitor the preparations for the Olympics so that it is held at the highest level.

According to the situation for the fall of 2015, the Olympiad will not be postponed and it will be held in Rio De Janeiro.
