Mascot white bear. Project "leopard - the mascot of the Olympic Games in Russia"

The Olympics in Sochi are coming very soon, and of course it has its own talisman, and not just one, but three! So it was decided after SMS voting, in which the gap between these three little animals was quite small.

The leader here was undoubtedly the white leopard Barsik, who scored 28% of the vote, in addition, Putin himself voted for him) In second place was the polar bear Polyus with 18% of the vote and in third place was the bunny Strelka with 16% of the vote.

Usually a talisman is either something abstract, well, there are snowmen, mittens, or some animal that characterizes the country - and all three talisman animals live in Russia, although there are those who claim that there are no leopards in Russia.

The history of the mascots of the Olympic Games in Sochi

Leopard Barsik - lives in the mountains of the Caucasus, working there as a mountain rescuer-alpinist. She loves to dance and snowboard.

Polar bear Polus - lives in an igloo beyond the Arctic Circle. Brought up by polar explorers, he adopted from them the ability to ski, skate, and even the ability to play curling. But most of all, he loves to ride a sports sleigh, and look at the stars during the long polar nights)

Bunny Strelka is studying at the academy. Of course, she is an excellent student, others are not taken as talismans) Her family has a family restaurant "Forest Dam", where the bunny helps her mother. In general, the bunny is an athlete, an excellent student and a beauty) The mascot was invented by a schoolgirl from Chuvash Republic- Sylvia Petrova.

History of the Paralympic Winter Games Mascots

Luchik and Snezhinka were chosen by the Paralympians themselves.

Ray and Snowflake are aliens from other planets, Ray from hot, and Snowflake from cold. But despite the fact that they are not like everyone around them, they also love sports very much and are generally kind and positive, able to overcome any obstacles in their path. They play wheelchair curling and sledge hockey.

The choice of the mascot of Sochi-2014

The emblem (logo) of the Sochi Olympic Games was developed by Interbrand. On December 1, 2009, the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics logo was presented in Moscow.

The logo consists of mirror images of Sochi and 2012, which are a continuation of each other, the ".ru" element and the Olympic rings.

The mirror similarity of "Sochi" and "2014" emphasizes the climatic polarity of the city of Sochi, in which the snow-capped mountain peaks are reflected in the water surface of the Black Sea.

The element ". ru" - the national domain zone, emphasizes the all-Russian coverage of the 2014 Olympic Games, which will be held in Sochi.

The logo of the Sochi Olympic Games reflects an innovative approach to the preparation and holding of the Games. In addition, the Sochi2014.ru domain makes it possible for everyone to follow the preparations for the Games in real time, wherever they are.

We determined that the core values of the new Sochi 2014 brand are Active. Surprising. Real.

The city of Sochi is as unique as our entire country. It is a unique complex of climatic, landscape and cultural phenomena.

The Sochi 2014 emblem solves two problems at once. On the one hand, the Olympic Movement is on the verge of a digital revolution. We are convinced that innovation is the key to reaching new audiences. An innovative approach to the preparation and holding of the Games is the key to our success in 2014. In order for the Games to really penetrate into every home on the planet, all possible channels of communication must be found and launched, the main of which is modern world is the digital space.

On the other hand, not everyone outside our country knows that there is a city of Sochi on Earth. The “.ru” part in the emblem tells the world that Sochi is a city in Russia.

All this is reflected in our emblem, which consists of mirror-reflecting symbols that are a continuation of each other. Our emblem is the image of the "live" Games. Games for people who strive for change, those who bring progress.

We want everyone to perceive the Games in Sochi as a holiday, as an occasion for their own growth.

Olympic coins

The Sochi 2014 coin program developed by the Bank of Russia is designed for 4 years - from 2011 to 2014. Within the framework of the program, not only commemorative, but also investment coins will be sold. It is planned to issue 46 types of commemorative and investment coins made of gold, silver and non-ferrous metals. Some of them will be rectangular for the first time.

The design of the metal money was developed by the artists of FSUE Goznak together with specialists from the Bank of Russia and representatives of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee. The first to go on sale were four silver coins with a face value of 3 rubles “Biathlon”, “ Figure skating», « Skiing” and “Hockey”, and a gold coin of 1 thousand rubles “Flora of Sochi”. Traditionally, the front side of the coins was decorated with the image of the State Emblem Russian Federation. The mass of each silver coin is 31.1 grams, and they are made of 925 alloy. The golden thousand is an order of magnitude heavier - 155.5 grams, the composition is an alloy of 999 samples.

The theme and design of Sochi 2014 coins reflect not only the Olympic themes, but also the specifics of the region - the city of Sochi and its unique nature. So on the coins of the categories dedicated to sports, next to the athletes, rare plants growing on the Black Sea coast are depicted. Moreover, these representatives of the flora, unlike athletes, are made in color. On the coin "Biathlon" next to the athlete is a branch of the Pitsunda pine, listed in the Red Book. On the coin "Hockey" - a cork oak branch. On the coin "Figure Skating" - Voronov's snowdrop. On the coin "Mountain skiing" - a branch of magnolia.

Olympic stamps

Postal philatelic products have accompanied all the modern Olympic Games since 1896. Postage stamps issued by the country hosting the Games are an attribute of each Olympics and, without a doubt, the most valuable exhibits of philatelic collections.

The philatelic program "Sochi 2014" started in 2011 with the release of a postage block with the stamp "Sochi - the capital of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in 2014". The first stamps of the series “XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Tourism on the Russian Black Sea Coast” and “XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Olympic winter views sports." The total circulation of all stamps issued in 2011 amounted to more than 10 million copies, the total circulation for 2012 was about 12 million copies. The results of the first months of implementation have shown great interest in stamps, both on the part of philatelists and on the part of the widest strata of the population.

In total, for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi will be issued 6 postage blocks, more than 50 different postage stamps, postcards, as well as sets of all published postage stamps in art cover. Among the subjects used for Sochi 2014 postal products are winter sports, mascots of the 2014 Games, Olympic sports objects, Olympic torch relay, sports legends and views of the Krasnodar Territory.

The uniqueness of the Sochi 2014 stamps lies in the fact that they will become the most multilingual in history Olympic movement. A total of 6 versions of sheets will be issued, on each of which information on coupons and on the margins of the sheet will be given in different languages: Russian, English, French, German, Spanish and Chinese.

Olympic souvenirs

Pictograms

In September 2012, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee presented a set of pictograms - 22 stylized images of sports and disciplines for the most visual representation of the Olympic program. The pictograms are made in the uniform image of the 2014 Games and are based on generally accepted international standards for visual Olympic symbols.

When creating the graphic image of the Sochi 2014 pictograms, the artists were inspired by the experience and achievements of previous generations. They did not cross out the past, but smoothly developed the original visual history of the Moscow Olympics, taking into account modern views. The style of the pictograms of Moscow-80, their amazing plasticity and emotionality - these are the unifying symbols of the past that are understandable and easy to understand for most Russians. Self-irony and external simplicity, a combination of smooth and straight lines, smoothed corners - all this made it possible to give the Sochi 2014 pictograms dynamics and impetuosity.

The pictograms fit perfectly into the concept of a single visual image of the Games in Sochi - a patchwork quilt (a combination of 16 ornaments of the most famous national crafts of Russia, from Gzhel to Khokhloma). The graphics of the pictograms echo the Sochi 2014 logo - the same proportions of lines, rounded corners - all this makes the pictograms a logical continuation of the emblem of the Games.

Traditionally for freestyle and snowboarding, several Olympic pictograms are created at once, since the types of competitions within these sports differ significantly. Hence 22 pictograms for 15 Olympic sports.

22 icons are designed in two colors. The first, more strict and concise, is made in monochrome. Yellow, purple, green, blue and red colors are used to create the second version of the pictograms, based on the concept of the Russian patchwork quilt. These pictograms are used in the design of stadiums, tickets, and also for placement on Sochi 2014 licensed products.

One of them loves sledding and playing curling, the second cannot live without his snowboard, and the third always wins prizes in various sports competitions. Two are ferocious predators, and the third is a small and defenseless baby, but this does not prevent her from fearlessly standing next to her unusual comrades. Who are they? What unites them?

Of course, the love of sports, because all three became the mascots of the 2014 Olympic Games, which will be held February 7-23 in Sochi. Their path to glory was not easy: they had to get around more than one rival and even compete with Zoych himself, but our heroes are not afraid of difficulties. Every day they have to meet with an enemy that is much more terrible - the cold of winter, and she does not tolerate carelessness and frivolity.

The Polar Bear lives beyond the Arctic Circle. His house is made of snow and ice, as well as everything in it. Mishka uses an ice computer, a cold bed and a snowy shower. But he is not at all afraid of the cold - our athlete does not even suspect the existence of the summer heat, because he grew up here.

Once upon a time, the White Bear was sheltered by polar explorers, who taught him to ski and skate. However, most of all, this unusual athlete fell in love with the sled. He became a great luger and bobsledder, whose victories are happily watched by his faithful friends seals and fur seals.

The leopard works as a mountain rescuer-alpinist. He is not at all afraid of heights and even settled in the crown of a huge tree growing on one of the highest rocks in the Caucasus. He will never refuse to help, as the inhabitants of the nearest village were convinced, whom he saved more than once from unpredictable snow avalanches.

Leopard rarely part with his beloved snowboard and even taught this sport to his inquisitive friends and neighbors. He is cheerful and playful, like any representative of the cat tribe, and simply loves incendiary dances.

But little Bunny has not yet decided what her profession will be, but she knows for sure that she will connect her life with her favorite sport. So far, she is an excellent student at the Forest Academy and is diligently helping her mother in their small family restaurant called Forest Dam, where it is always cozy and fun. And, of course, never refuses songs and dances.

The current talismans were chosen, as they say, "by the whole world." The final results were announced on February 26, 2011 on Channel One. In the TV show "Talismania. Sochi 2014. Final ” declared that 1.4 million votes of viewers were taken into account, who expressed their opinion. Leopard won 28.2% of the vote, White Bear - 18.3%, and Bunny - 16.4%.

Of course, not everyone agreed with this choice. For example, in the alternative voting on social networks VKontakte and Facebook, Zaika did not pass the selection, giving her place to Santa Claus, and the residents of Sochi themselves preferred Dolphin on skis, which they announced back in 2008.

Most of all, critics do not like the round head of the Polar Bear and its resemblance to the mascot of the 1980 Olympics Misha, which the artist Viktor Chizhikov himself does not deny. In addition, many believe that the Leopard should not be white, because then it strongly resembles, which, as you know, never lived in the Caucasus.

However, the job is done. According to Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Leopard, White Bear and Bunny “have already become part of the history of the world Olympic movement!”.

September 1, 2010 was opened All-Russian competition mascots of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will be held in 2014 in Sochi.

The winner of the contest will be chosen by popular vote on February 7, 2011, exactly three years before the start of the Sochi Games.

The competition is held in two categories - "Olympic mascot" and "Paralympic mascot". The image must necessarily be the result of the creative work of the participant. The drawing can be made both in color and in black and white using any technique, including computer graphics. Any citizen of Russia permanently residing in the country can take part in the competition. To do this, from September 1 to December 5, 2010, send your creative work and a completed questionnaire to the Sochi-2014 Organizing Committee.

Entries will be accepted as
on the competition website www.talisman.sochi2014.ru, so
and by mail - 105275, Moscow, post box "Talisman Sochi 2014".

The winners of the competition will be awarded certificates for two tickets to opening XXII Olympic Winter Games or XI Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi, depending on the nomination in which they win.

On February 26, the symbol of the Olympics in Sochi 2014 was chosen by SMS voting . Same as on Olympic Games ah in Vancouver, 3 mascots won the competition. Olympic symbols were assigned: a polar bear, a leopard and a hare.

GEO magazine commented on the important role Olympic mascot. According to the publication, the symbol should bring good luck to the participants of the competition, create a festive atmosphere and reflect the spirit of the country in which the games are held. Usually, the image of an animal, the most famous and revered in the host country of the Olympic Games, or a fictional creature acts as a talisman.

3rd place Bunny(created by Silvia Petrova from Chuvashia, Yantikovsky district, Novoe Buyanovo village) - 16.4% of the vote

Dmitry Chernyshenko (President of the Organizing Committee) noted that for the first time in the history of the Olympics, the symbols for the games were chosen by the whole country. According to the Olympic principle, it was decided to choose 3 characters - the winners of the popular vote. Our country chose the Bunny, the White Bear and the Leopard, and these mascots of the Sochi 2014 Olympics have already entered the history of the world Olympic movement.

The mascot of the Olympics - the leopard Barsik

Friendly and cheerful leopard Barsik will always come to the rescue. In the qualifying round of the competition, it was said that this character helps people from Caucasian villages escape from avalanches. This rescue climber loves snowboarding, dancing and doesn't like being alone.

The leopard was nominated for a competition in Sochi in November 2010 (in Krasnaya Polyana). In addition, it is worth drawing an analogy between the leopard Barsik and the symbol of the Universiade in Kazan in 2013 - a snow leopard named Yuni.

V.V. himself Putin (at that time the Prime Minister of Russia) voted for the leopard Barsik.

Mascot of the Olympics - polar bear Polus

The second finalist of the contest, which selected the mascots of the Sochi 2014 Olympics, was a good-natured polar bear.

Its creator, Oleg Serdechny, told the story of this character: a white bear living in the Arctic Circle was raised by polar explorers. Thanks to them, he absorbed the love of sports. Mishka is a fan of bobsleigh, loves sledding, knows how to skate and ski, likes to play curling and run. Sports pressure helps him in his desire to conquer new heights.

The white bear gets along well with children and is always ready to give them his care and attention. Compliant disposition and kindness make the White Bear look like his predecessor - the symbol of the Olympics-80.

On the show "Talismania" Polyus sang the famous song "Somewhere in the World" together with Natalya Varley.

Olympic mascot - Bunny

The purposeful and active Bunny was invented by a young artist from the Chuvash Republic, Silvia Petrova.

Sylvia is in the eleventh grade, she described with pleasure the character of the character she invented and said that her cheerful and optimistic heroine goes in for sports, studies well and helps her mother in the work of a family restaurant called "Forest Dam". Bunny's favorite sport is figure skating.

At the mascot competition, Zaika, together with Dima Bilan, sang the song "About Hares", won the hearts of the audience and took the honorable 3rd place. So the Bunny became the last symbol of the upcoming Olympics.

The organizers noted that the selected symbols of the Sochi 2014 Olympics (whose photos can now be seen on all kinds of souvenirs) are excellent athletes.

Mishka is a great sledder and will help the bobsledders, Leopard is an experienced snowboarder who is ready to share his experience with all his friends, and the cheerful skater Zayka will help create a festive atmosphere during the Olympic Games.

Three mascots were not chosen by chance, because there are exactly 3 places on the Olympic podium, the Olympics have 3 main values (friendship, respect and striving for excellence), and Olympic athletes help to win 3 main qualities (speed, agility and strength).

Symbols of the Paralympics 2014

But the champions and Paralympic athletes chose the mascots for the Sochi Paralympic Games themselves, deciding that this important matter should not be trusted by public opinion.

As a result, it was decided that the Winter Snowflake and the Sun Ray would represent the Paralympics.

These 2 symbols are able to convey the beauty of the cold Russian winter on sunny bright days. The characters symbolize harmony and contrast. These two opposites were able to find a common language and make friends, together they overcame all difficulties and achieved great success. The union of Ray and Snowflake is designed to show people that nothing is impossible in life.

An amazing pair of Luchik and Snezhinka, to the delight of the audience of the Talismania show, danced a magnificent waltz from the film My Affectionate and Gentle Beast on ice.

Home for the Olympic mascots

All Olympic characters who won the competition live in the Mascot House, located on the official website of the Winter Games. Each of them has its own unique character, its own special history and gives preference to its favorite Olympic look sports.
