From Zhulin's tears to Zagitova's confidence: the Czech Republic in figure skating is over. From Zhulin's tears to Zagitova's confidence: Figure Skating Championship completed Figure Skating Championship men results

The final of the championship of Russia is approaching figure skating. On Saturday passed final stages competitions in the category of women and couples. The names of the winners in all categories are already known. Ahead is only the awarding and demonstration performances, which will be held on December 24 in sports complex"Jubilee" in St. Petersburg.

The annual Russian figure skating championship is coming to an end. According to the results of the competition, it is clear that the athletes gave all their best. And no wonder, because participation in the European Championship and a trip to the Olympics in Pyeongchang are at stake. Before the solemn award ceremony takes place, it is worth remembering bright moments that the championship is remembered for.

Russian Figure Skating Championship 2017 2018 results and awards: Alina Zagitova justified the advance payment of the judges in the free program

Perhaps the most striking and, at the same time, quite controversial were the competitions in female category. Since the champion Evgenia Medvedeva could not take part in the championship, her place was taken by an athlete who was remembered for the Grand Prix Cup, Alina Zagitova. Her victory was quite expected.

However, Zagitova's short program was not entirely successful due to a gross mistake in a complex cascade of jump elements. The judges still gave her high marks for technique, thus making clear their clear disposition towards the young skater. However, in the free program, Zagitova lived up to expectations, demonstrating an impeccable performance.

Alena Kostornaya took the bronze medal only as a result of the monstrous failure of Polina Tsurskaya in the free program. Kostornaya, due to her age, cannot yet take part in the European Championship or in Olympic competitions, but the top three contenders were determined without her. In particular, stakes are being placed on the recovery of Evgenia Medvedeva, who is already on the mend.

Russian Figure Skating Championship 2017 2018 results and awards: sunset of Maxim Kovtun's success

The men's competition was less intense than the women's, but was remembered for the defeat former champion Russian Makim Kovtun. Kovtun won the title 4 years ago, ahead of Evgeni Plushenko in the competition. However, Plushenko still took his place in the Olympic team, thanks to the victory in the team competition. In subsequent years, Kovtun also demonstrated high results at the Russian championships, but world competitions were too tough for him.

The 2017 season was a failure for Maxim. Due to a back injury, he was only able to take part in the first round of the Grand Prix in America. But he left the national team after performing with a short program. A similar situation occurred in the championship of Russia. Now Kovtun will not be able to go to the Olympics in Pyeongchang and, most likely, this season will be the sunset of his sports career.

Won first place in the men's category Mikhail Kolyada. He showed a rather difficult program with three different quarter jumps. Despite the technical shortcomings, Kovtun still received high marks and surpassed the nearest competitor, Alexander Samarin, by almost 10 points. Kolyada and Samarin joined the Russian national team at the European Championships and claim to participate in Olympic Games Oh.

Russian Figure Skating Championship 2017 2018 results and awards: battle of leaders in pair skating

Competitions in the category of pair skating turned into a bright struggle between the two leading pairs: Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov with all their might kept their championship from the onset of Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov. The short program relaxed the champions, as Tarasova and Morozov showed far from the best performance and made many mistakes. At the same time, the performance of Stolbova and Klimov became one of the best this season.

But in the free program, everything seemed to have changed places. A pair of Tarasova and Morozov managed to catch up with the difference and beat the leaders. Mistakes in the free program by Stolbova and Klimov could not be covered even by the brilliant result of the short program. According to the results of the competition, the first place was taken by a couple Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov. Third place went to a pair of Natalia Zabiyako and Alexander Enbert.

Russian Figure Skating Championship 2017 2018 results and awards: ice dance touched the audience

The final stage of the competition in the category "dancing on ice" went pretty smoothly. The leading pair had no significant competitors, since after the short program, the pair of Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov withdrew from the competition. Nikita injured his ankle during training and was unable to continue participating. In view of this, the champions Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitry Solovyov it was enough to show a clean rental without gross violations.

But Ekaterina and Dmitry showed that they are not just claiming the first place. Their performance was good not only technically, but also as a production. touching love story did not leave the audience indifferent, the hall stood up by the end of their performance. The dance even touched the heart of coach Alexander Zhilin.

Silver went to a couple of Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin. They showed quite high-quality performances in both programs, but they themselves were not entirely satisfied with the result. Third place went to Tiffany Zagorski and Jonathan Gureyro. This is their first award at a competition of this kind. The participation of Zagorski and Gureyro in the European Championship has not yet been confirmed.

The Russian Figure Skating Championship of the 2017/2018 season ended in St. Petersburg - selection for the European Championship and the Olympic Games. Four sets of awards played top athletes countries. The competition was hosted by the famous Yubileiny Sports Palace, which celebrated its fiftieth birthday this year.

This is not the first time that the city on the Neva hosts the national championship, the last time the strongest Russian figure skaters came here 8 years ago to compete for tickets to the Olympic Games in Vancouver. In February 2017, the winners and prize-winners of the Russian Championship among juniors were determined in this sports palace. This time the organization of the competition was held at a high level, this fact was noted by all the athletes. Of course, it was not possible to avoid some overlaps with the schedule and work of support services, but the most important thing is that the athletes were provided with comfortable conditions, and the audience enjoyed watching the festival of sports and art.

Watching figure skating live and on TV are completely different things. Not a single TV screen can convey the fullness of the wonderful feeling of flight, the feeling of inspiration of an athlete who has purely performed his programs. And, on the contrary, nervous tension and stiffness of those who could not cope with the excitement. The audience gathered at the rink appreciated the beauty of the creative side of figure skating and the sharpness of wrestling. hot support appreciated by all the participants, who found it much easier to perform under such a storm of applause.

But despite the warm welcome and the great desire to show themselves with the most better side, not all skaters managed to cope with the tasks. Veterans of our national team in singles Alena Leonova and Sergey Voronov made mistakes and could not get into the team for the main starts of the season. And if Leonova’s chances to get to the Olympic Games even before the start of the tournament seemed almost unrealistic - the competition among girls is too high, then Voronov was considered the main contender for the trip - he has gold and bronze in the autumn stages of the Grand Prix, 4th place in the final of the series . It was all the more surprising to watch the breakdown of an athlete skating so consistently throughout the first half of the season.

Failed to start Elena Radionova And Elizabeth Tuktamysheva, but the current Olympic cycle began under the auspices of the fierce competition of these two talented girls in all major competitions of the 2014/2015 season. Three-time champion of Russia Maxim Kovtun and completely withdrew from the free program for health reasons. If we imagine the Olympic cycle as marathon distance, it turns out that the leaders of the beginning of the race barely reach the finish line, being in the middle of the list, and in the head group there are completely different athletes. Such a sad metaphor describes the bitterness of the failures of Elena, Elizabeth and Maxim.

Mikhail Kolyada performed excellently, confirming his status as a leader and defending the title of champion of Russia. However, Mikhail was almost pushed from the first step Alexander Samarin- yesterday's junior. A year ago, he became the winner of the junior Grand Prix final, and already this year he fought for getting into the final of the adult series and even led after the short program at the national championship. But in the free program, his shoe broke after falling on the most difficult jump (lutz in 4 turns), and it was no longer possible to show a clean performance of other elements. The strength of Alexander's character can only be applauded. The more valuable was his silver medal. Another young athlete performed well, Samarin's colleague on the podium at the junior competitions of last season - Dmitry Aliev. He once started his journey on an open street skating rink, and now for the first time he became the winner of the adult Championship of Russia. Despite the anxiety of an unhealed leg injury, and an absurd fall out of the blue, Aliyev performed in such a way that the audience remembered him, and this is perhaps the main assessment of his talent.

Of the athletes who did not get on the podium, juniors can be noted Makar Ignatov, Alexey Erokhov And Vladimir Samoilov. From the point of view of emotional presentation, they almost did not concede to the leaders, jump elements were performed at a good level. Yes, there have been mistakes, but who doesn't? But there is something to work on, what heights to strive for!

Artur Dmitriev was also remembered by the audience and specialists, trying to perform in demonstration performances the most difficult jump - axel in 4.5 turns! This shows that not everything is so sad and hopeless in our men's single skating, as it is customary to think and say in last years. One can see progress in general among all participants of the tournament. Skaters do not agree to remain outsiders and are working on themselves. It remains only to wish them good health and good luck so that the upward movement does not stop.

Usually, women's single skating is opposed to men's - in the current Olympic cycle, all the gold medals of the main starts invariably went to Russian figure skaters. Foreign fans even came up with the name of our women's team - "Russian fierce team" (frantic Russian team). Willpower and a great desire to win, combined with the natural talent of our beautiful girls raised the popularity of the sport in the country and gave an incredible impetus to development throughout the world. Already one-year-old girls dream of becoming figure skaters, so that everyone applauds them, and then receive beautiful medals. But behind any awards is incredibly hard work, during which, unfortunately, injuries are inevitable. For this reason, the national championship lost such wonderful participants as Evgenia Medvedeva, Anna Pogorilaya and Alisa Fedichkina. But women's single skating in Russia is captivating because any girl can make a splash and add entertainment, therefore this species competition turned out to be the most interesting. For 36 rentals in two days, there were only a few falls, participants from the second ten standings they easily performed complex cascades and rotations of the fourth level. Some, unfortunately, were let down by excitement, but the recognized leaders of the season are Alina Zagitova and Maria Sotskova- they did an excellent job and, as expected, took the first two steps of the podium. Third place junior Alena Kostornaya was an easy surprise for those who saw her for the first time, but more experienced fans already knew the potential of this figure skater and expected to see her at a fairly high position. Alena impeccably performed her programs, which cannot be said about those who were expected to be in the coveted third place - Polina Tsurskaya, Elena Radionova, Stanislav Konstantinova. But no one discounts them, because they are all young, strong athletes who have already won the attention of fans around the world. The high level of single skaters at the Russian Championship indicates that our women's team will be able to win medals at all major competitions, not only this season, but also in subsequent ones.

The dance tournament promised to be the least predictable in terms of results - few doubted the leadership Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitry Solovyov. The company on the pedestal they were supposed to make Alexandra Stepanova/Ivan Bukin and Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov. 4th place was expected to be fought between Betina Popova/Sergei Mozgov, Tiffany Zagorski/Jonathan Gureiro and Alla Loboda/Pavel Drozd. But various circumstances intervened, including dramatic ones, and Sinitsina / Katsalapov did not get on the podium - they could not finish the free dance due to injury. The bronze medal went to the pair Zagorski/Gureiro, followed by Popova/Mozgov, but the 5th place in a tense fight was won by Sofia Evdokimova and Yegor Bazin- a couple from the Samara region. They got ahead of rather strong rivals in the face of Loboda / Drozd, which is a real breakthrough for skaters not from the capital's schools. In addition, they performed after an injury, Sophia had only recently removed the cast. Coach Evdokimova / Bazina, Oleg Sudakov, known for once coaching Maxim Shabalin- the world champion in ice dancing with Oksana Domnina, Maxim Shabalin always remembered this specialist with gratitude.
The first two places among the dancers went to those to whom they were prophesied. Bobrova and Solovyov have already become seven-time champions of Russia! This achievement inscribed them in the history of figure skating. Their free dance caused a standing ovation from the audience and tears from the coach. For an artist, there is nothing more valuable than tears and applause. Stepanova/Bukin confirmed a high level of skill with their silver, and we can expect that their progress will not stop.

Modern trends in the world of ice dancing dictate the fashion for abstract programs without focusing on a twisted plot and with greater ease of perception in an emotional sense. The dances of the silver and bronze medalists correspond to fashion trends, but the dance of the champions, with its deep drama, is similar to the programs of a truly Russian dance school, to the style of Soviet champions. However, all programs are good in their own way, each production has found a response. It is in ice dancing that the setting of the program and its perception plays the greatest role in the final arrangement of places, since many couples can perform tracks and lifts at a high level. There is no margin for complexity in front of rivals in the form of jumping elements in four turns. We dare to express the hope that our dance couples will continue to develop in all aspects of figure skating - work on the ease of sliding and come up with memorable programs.

After the Olympic Games in Sochi, it seemed that couples, along with women's single skating, would be the leading event for our team. Silver Ksenia Stolbova/Fyodor Klimov at the Sochi Games gave significant hope for their leadership in the next cycle. The abundance of young couples with medals at the Junior World Championships suggested a long bench. However, hopes were only partly realized. The countless injuries of Ksenia and Fedor did not allow them to spend a single full season after Sochi. And of the young couples, only Evgenia Tarasova with Vladimir Morozov. These two duets competed for gold and silver at the Russian Championship. The victory went to Tarasova and Morozov. A pair of Stolbova / Klimov made too many mistakes in the free program, so there was no sharp fight. In the battle of productions, Stolbova/Klimov's hurricane and bright “Carmen” slightly outperforms Tarasova/Morozov's groovy rock and roll, as classical music is always perceived better than modern hits. Bronze medalists championship of Russia Natalia Zabiyako/Alexander Enbert also chose classical music - an excerpt from the ballet Sleeping Beauty. Again became fourth in their fourth national championship Kristina Astakhova/Alexey Rogonov performed with a program to the soundtrack to the film-musical “La-la-land”. The strongest group in the competition sports couples could be called a battle modern dance against classical ballet. No, no, readers are not confused, this is really a competition of sports couples, and not ice dancing. Just staging our best couples would look very worthy in dancing. It is all the more offensive that the figure skaters failed to embellish such excellent programs with the unmistakable execution of the most complex elements.
It is impossible not to note the young couples who remained below the line of winners, which were remembered by the audience. These are the winners of the junior international competitions current season: Alexandra Boykova / Dmitry Kozlovsky, Daria Pavlyuchenko / Denis Khodykin, Apollinaria Panfilova / Dmitry Rylov. These names may well sound in the coming years - athletes have a good technical base, pay attention to work on artistry and gliding. The distant future of pair skating in Russia is again viewed with optimism, but the leading adult pairs will have a hard time at the main starts of this season. Foreign competitors are very strong and hungry for victories, because it was Soviet and Russian couples who won the most gold medals from the Olympic Games. We wish our beautiful couples health and strength of mind! They do not occupy skill and talent, you just need to show it in right time and in the right place.

Following the results of the Russian Championship, the Figure Skating Federation formed the composition of the national team for the European Championship, and already there there will be a selection for the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. The decision of the FFKKR clearly shows different approaches in different disciplines figure skating: in some places they staked on the already won international prestige, and in others they will try to skate young athletes with a perspective on the future. We can only wish all the skaters good health and celebrate New Year with the brightest thoughts!

Someday the world will see an amazing battle on highest level two outstanding Russian figure skaters - Evgenia Medvedeva And Alina Zagitova. Maybe it will happen already at the Olympic Games in Korea. But the Russian championship was held without the participation of the current world champion and the main contender for Olympic gold. Frankly speaking, there were no sensations in St. Petersburg - in the absence of Medvedeva, she naturally won Alina Zagitova. She did not have a short program in the best way, and the judges gave marks in advance, which was justified in the free program. Amazing energy, amazing emotions, weightless jumps and aerial cascades - it really was the champion's performance!

Why this circus? Figure skaters skate according to judges' calculations

Ratings are set in advance. The lists have already been sent to the IOC. Why create unnecessary problems?

The second place was taken by Maria Sotskova, who did not slow down on the second day and retained her second position. And now it is Maria who has the best chance of getting a third ticket to the Moscow European Championship and the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. Polina Tsurskaya performed unsuccessfully in the free program and dropped from third place to fifth, leaving not only Alena Kostornaya behind, who, despite the bronze medal of the Russian Championship, does not yet qualify for participation in international starts due to her age, but also Stanislav Konstantinov from St. Petersburg, shone in the free program to the delight of local viewers.

Drama Kovtun

Four years ago, the newly-minted 18-year-old champion of the country fell victim to the authority of the eminent Evgeni Plushenko and, despite the fact that he won a ticket to the Olympics on a sporting basis, he did not go to Sochi. The best Russian figure skater of the past four-year cycle will not be able to go to Pyeongchang either. For fans of figure skating, this fact, of course, did not come as a surprise, because at the start of the Olympic season, Kovtun simply fell apart: before the Russian Championship, he performed only at the American stage of the Grand Prix - and that was unsuccessful. The key tournament of the season in St. Petersburg has become a kind of experiment - what if it works out? But, unfortunately, it didn't work out. Maxim took 16th place after an extremely unsuccessful short program and decided to withdraw from the competition.

The Russian Championship may well become a point of no return for Maxim. Many coaches and experts recommend that Kovtun finish the season ahead of schedule and decide on his future. Is he ready to work tirelessly for another four years to realize his Olympic dream?
In the meantime, it is being implemented by others. won the Russian championship for the second time in a row, showing the audience three different quadruple jump, though not without errors. Added in the stability and technique of Alexander Samarin, again received the silver of the national championship. These two skaters received direct tickets to the Moscow European Championship and, if no force majeure happens, they will go to the Olympic Games in South Korea.

Switched places

In pair skating, a colorful, exciting struggle unfolded between the two leading pairs of the country: Stolbova and Klimov tried to defend their champion title from the encroachments of Tarasova and Morozov. Following the results of the short program, it seemed that keeping the gold medals was an easy task. Stolbova and Klimov skated confidently, with high quality and showed one of the best skates this season. Tarasova and Morozov, on the contrary, were wrong: the partner landed unsuccessfully after the ejection, fell from a triple jump. However, in the free program, the pairs seem to have swapped places: reigning champions they made mistakes on jumps and ejections, and their rivals skated with inspiration, cleanly and managed to win the Russian championship for the first time.

“Jumping mistakes are big problems with concentration. There is practically nothing to fix, everything usually works out in training, ”said Klimov. "IN short program We didn't do it all the way we did today. We got used to the image, it is easier for us to roll it to the fullest throughout the program, we have a surge of emotions. Today's program can be perceived as a sip fresh air after the Grand Prix final, which turned out to be unsuccessful, ”Vladimir Morozov rejoiced at his victory.

To tears

In ice dancing, unfortunately, a spectacular fight did not work out. The fact is that during the execution of a free program, he injured his ankle, and the couple had to complete the performance and withdraw from the competition. Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitry Solovyov, in the absence of competitors, could only do without gross mistakes. However, the couple not only skated their program technically cleanly, but also showed a real performance on ice, moving many spectators to tears - the audience gave her a standing ovation. Thus, Bobrova and Solovyov became seven-time champions of Russia.

The second place was taken by Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin, who showed high-quality performances, both in the short program and in the free program. However, the athletes themselves were critical of their performance: “We will try to add even more to the European Championship and perform better there, so that everyone can see how we added,” Alexandra noted.

Also, one cannot fail to note the first bronze award for the colorful international couple Tiffany Zagorsky and Jonathan Gureyro, who showed the third result in short dance and the fourth - in an arbitrary. However, it is too early to book tickets to Moscow for the European Championship: the coaching council will make the final decision on the composition of the team.
