And most often, purchases are supplemented by horse broods, show programs, seminars, competitions and much more. When you mention an equestrian exhibition, such giants of the equestrian industry as the German exhibitions Spoga Horse and Equitana, the Italian Fieracavalli, and the French Salon du Cheval immediately come to mind. However, the calendar of horse shows around the world includes dozens of events. This review is devoted to the most interesting.
Great Britain
Appleby Horse Fair
Every year in the first week of June in the English town of Appleby-in-Westmorland, one of the oldest horse shows in Europe, the Appleby Horse Fair, takes place. It was first held back in 1685. The streets of the city are filled with a huge number of "gypsy" carts, decorated one more bizarre than the other, which are harnessed mainly by gypsy draft horses - tinkers. Olympia Horse Show
The first Christmas international horse show "Olympia" was held in London in 1972. Today Olympia gathers more than 80 thousand visitors who come to watch fantastic performances and enchanting horse shows. The Olympia program in 2014, as usual, promises to be varied and eventful. On the evening of December 16, for the first time in 40 years in England, there will be a full-scale performance of the Royal Andalusian Riding School. In addition, the school's groomers will be holding two 10-minute performances daily from December 16 to 22. Also, as part of the show, the stages of the World Cup in show jumping, driving and dressage will traditionally be held.
Shopping at the horse show in Olympia will not leave anyone indifferent. More than 250 companies present their goods here, and, in addition to everything necessary for equestrian sports, here, on the eve of Christmas and New Year, you can buy gifts, souvenirs, jewelry, clothes and wine.

Pferd & Jagd
Every year since 1981, the Pferd & Jagd exhibition has been held in the German city of Hannover, which is considered the largest exposition in Europe, combining three major areas at once: equestrianism, hunting and fishing. Athletes and horse owners will find here a wide range of horse ammunition and equipment for riders. On the evening of December 5 and 6, as part of the exhibition, a colorful gala show “Night of Horses” will take place, and in addition, visitors can enjoy shows and demonstration performances on various disciplines of equestrian sports, including Western, as well as veterinary forums.
In 2013, 805 companies from 22 countries of the world took part in the exhibition, and 79 thousand visitors visited it in a few days.

Hippologica Berlin
One of the largest German and European horse shows has been held annually in winter in the capital of Germany, Berlin, for 23 years. In addition to the standard exhibition-sale, the organizers offer to visit five venues where show jumping, western, dressage competitions are held; as well as horse breeding, theatrical performances, veterinary seminars and educational lectures.
In 2013, the number of exhibitors increased to 185 companies from five countries, the number of visitors exceeded 20,000.
Children under 6 years old can visit Hippologica Berlin for free. The ticket price for an adult is 11 euros, for students, pensioners and children from 6 years old - 8 euros. There are also convenient tickets for the whole family (26 euros) or "group" tickets for 5 people (45 euros).
Eurocheval
Once every two years in the German city of Offenburg, located 20 km from French Strasbourg, the Eurocheval horse show takes place. First organized in 1976, already in 2010, companies from 400 countries of the world presented their products to the exhibition. The exhibition combines events both indoors and outdoors. The program necessarily includes broods of horses of various breeds, horse shows, presentations of Western disciplines and auctions.

Pennsylvania Horse World Expo
Every year in Harrisburg, the capital of the US state of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Horse World Expo takes place. The organizers promise all comers four days of seminars, entertainment and non-stop shopping. The exhibition presents hundreds of horses, a "parade of breeds", a large number of various seminars and master classes, reining and trail competitions, demonstration driving tournaments, including pony. There is also a brood of stallions of different breeds, Stallion Avenue. The highlight of the event is the presentation of the equestrian theater Theater Equus - beautiful and memorable shows with an interesting script and professional choreography, the main characters of which, of course, are horses.

Midwest Horse Fair
Midwest Horse Fair is a three-day specialized horse show, which is considered one of the largest in the United States. It has been held annually in Madison, the capital of Wisconsin, since 1979. Each exhibition has a specific theme, in 2015 it is called Galloping Into the Future. More than 500 exhibitors offer their goods and services to equestrians, demonstration performances, a show program, broods, as well as one of the most "American" entertainments - rodeo are held daily within the framework of the exhibition.

Cheval Passion

SICAB
Since 1991, Seville, Spain, has been hosting the SICAB International Horse Show, which is the largest horse show in the world dedicated to only one horse breed - the Andalusian. It is within the framework of SICAB that the finals of the championships for mares and stallions of the Andalusian breed are held. Dressage, show jumping and driving tournaments are also held, in which only horses of this breed take part.

EQUITANA Melbourne
Every year in Melbourne, Australia, a major international horse show EQUITANA Melbourne takes place. Within its framework, competitions are held in various official equestrian disciplines, including the World Cup show jumping stage, horsball tournaments, the reining championship and an equestrian exhibition where you can buy various items of equestrian ammunition, as well as equipment for the rider and souvenirs. In 2014, more than 300 companies took part in the exhibition.
One of the most memorable parts of the program is the three-day The Way Of The Horse. Spectators become witnesses of how three different trainers on three different grounds simultaneously work with young horses that have not been beaten. At the end of three days, a winner is chosen. The whole event is built exclusively on soft methods of work.

Feira Anal da Trofa
Every year, on the border of the calendar winter and spring in Portugal, in Trofa, a large-scale exhibition Feira Anual da Trofa takes place. The history of this equestrian exhibition is rooted in the distant past. It was first held in the middle of the 18th century, then called Sao Martinho Fair. Its main characters were and remain the Portuguese Lusitano horses, which are shown here in all their glory in show jumping, dressage and driving, as well as in working equitation. At the end of each exhibition, a parade of the best stallions of the Lusitano breed traditionally takes place. During the exhibition, all the streets of the town are filled with horsemen and horsewomen dressed in traditional Portuguese riding clothes. You can buy it here and for yourself, because shops with a variety of goods are open at every step. You may not find white breeches with a full lei here, but you can buy a lot of things that you can’t find at standard European horse shows. Since the exhibition occupies almost the entire city, there is no entrance fee.
Qatar
CHI Al Shaqab
In 2014, the chic Al Shaqab equestrian center in Doha, Qatar hosted the CHI Al Shaqab international equestrian show for the third time. In addition to five-star (!) dressage and show jumping tournaments with fabulous prize funds, vaulting and distance riding competitions, CHI Al Shaqab hosts one of the largest horse shows in Qatar. Here visitors can find a very wide range of horse and equestrian goods.

Dubai International Horse Fair
In 2015, in the heart of the UAE, in Dubai, the large-scale equestrian exhibition Dubai International Horse Fair will be held for the 11th time. The event is patronized by the Crown Prince of the UAE, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and has firmly established itself as the largest and most prestigious event of its kind in the Middle East.

Her name is EQUITANA. The full power of the German equestrian industry, where the cult of the horse reigns in each of the 16 federal states, is presented in 17 exhibition pavilions with a total area of 90 thousand square meters. For nine days, the Essen exhibition complex is bustling with life, the schedule of events in several showrooms and one main arena is scheduled to the minute, and in the evening, spectators are treated to a first-class horse show, and this alone is worth coming to EQUITANA.
From September 8 to 10, the 3rd International Horse Russia Exhibition will be held on the territory of the Maxima Park country complex.
For the first time in our country, a joint project is being implemented, in which the largest equestrian club participates European level and professional organizers of horse shows. This partnership provides new opportunities to create a real equestrian festival that brings together industry professionals and all horse lovers.
Over three days, more than 500 horses of domestic and foreign breeds will take part in pedigree broods and shows, as well as in international show jumping competitions. Horses from all over Russia will come to Maxima Park near Moscow - Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Samara, Kaluga, Leningrad, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Rostov, Chelyabinsk, Saratov regions, the republics of Mordovia, Adygea and Dagestan, as well as some European countries and the states of the former CIS - Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania.
Specialists from Holland, Italy, USA, Belgium, Argentina, Qatar will hold seminars and master classes, and will take part in judging championships.
Every day in the Grand Arena you can see a show parade of horses of various breeds, including Andalusian, Friesian, Norwegian fjords and others. The real highlight will be the performance of the smallest horse in Russia - the American miniature stallion Gulliver (height at the withers 45 cm, weight 7 kg) and the largest horse of our country - Shira Dzhedaya (height 197 cm and weighing more than 1 ton).
The first day of the exhibition will open with a litter of the Terek horse breed, which has almost disappeared in our time. Further, the program will be devoted to non-Olympic equestrian disciplines. Leonid Shevchenko will give a driving master class, he will demonstrate the legendary Russian troika and different types European harnesses. As part of the Horse Sense project, Uliana Yakovleva and her charming tinker mare Cinderella will present “10 commandments of feeling for a horse. The Russian national vaulting team will show demonstration performances. At the end of the performances, everyone will be able to try to sit on a real vaulting horse.
The program of the first day will be completed by the exciting show program "Western VS Classic", which will clearly demonstrate the difference in the methods of training horses in the Western style and in show jumping, putting the master of sports in the Western saddle international class in show jumping by Vladimir Beletsky under the guidance of the director of the sports western school Natalya Anokhin.
The program of the second day will begin with a master class in classical dressage by the famous Belgian coach Helen Arianoff, a student of the legendary Portuguese coach Nuno Oliveira. Further, the arena will be provided to the participants of the breed championships. Participants of the horse festival will appear before the audience heavy breeds: Soviet, Russian and Vladimir heavy trucks, as well as foreign giants - English Shires, Belgian Brabançons and French Percherons. Impartial refereeing will be provided by the Dutch specialist Thun Broimans.
In the afternoon, as part of the 15th Russian Championship, thoroughbreds will enter the arena Arabian horses. The winners of the ring will receive the right to participate in the World Championship in Paris in December 2017. For the first time, in honor of the anniversary, the class of foals under mares has been approved. Experts from Belgium, Argentina and Qatar are invited to judge.
Sunday will open with a presentation of Oryol horses trotting breed“The Legacy of Count Orlov”, and then there will be a ring of horses of the Don and Budennovsky breeds “Gold of the Steppes”. The program will end with an exhibition of thoroughbred horses Akhal-Teke breed"Cup of Russia 2017". The winners of the Cup will go to the FierraCavalli exhibition in Verona (Italy).
Visitors have an extensive educational program. The list of topics includes the problems of caring for the horse's hooves and teeth, the features of the selection of saddles and ammunition, feeding and maintenance issues, as well as lectures and practical classes, including a seminar by Laura Williams on gentle methods of working with a horse.
In the lobby of the Grand Manege, visitors can get acquainted with the work of equestrian photographers, artists and sculptors. The highlight of the exposition is the exclusive photo exhibition of the famous animal photographer and blogger Igor Shpilenok "Mustang Island".
For children in one of the arenas there will be organized a contact stable with ponies and miniature horses, competitions will be held there, pony riding will be organized.
In addition, the International CSI-2*1* Show Jumping Competition and the Russian Amateur Show Jumping Championship will be held simultaneously with the show at the Maxima Park Olympic Field. Competitions include classifications for children, juniors, riders on young horses and amateur athletes, as well as international 2* courses. On Saturday, September 9, spectators will have an exciting Speed and Music route, where riders will have to overcome the route to the special music chosen by the organizers. Prize fund competition is 3 million rubles, and the sponsor of the Grand Prix will be the official Ferrari dealer in Russia - Ferrari AVILON.
The fair, traditional for horse shows, will be located on the open and covered areas of the complex.
