For nine days, the Essen exhibition complex is bustling with life, the schedule of events in several showrooms and one main arena is scheduled to the minute, and in the evening, spectators are treated to a first-class horse show, and this alone is worth coming to EQUITANA.
  • For any equestrian, the combination of just two words “horse show” produces a magical effect. After all, it means that a sea of ​​ammunition and equipment for the rider, souvenirs, veterinary drugs and equipment for the stables of various companies and price categories are collected under one roof. And most often, purchases are complemented by horse broods, show programs, seminars, competitions and much more. When you mention an equestrian exhibition, such giants of the equestrian industry as the German exhibitions Spoga Horse and Equitana, the Italian Fieracavalli, and the French Salon du Cheval immediately come to mind.     Appleby Horse Fair

    Every year in the first week of June, the English town of Appleby-in-Westmoreland hosts one of the oldest horse shows in Europe - Appleby Horse Fair. It took place for the first time back in 1685. The streets of the city are filled with a huge number of “gypsy” carts, decorated one more bizarrely than the other, which are drawn mainly by gypsy draft horses - tinkers. They are the main characters of the exhibition. Here you can sell and buy horses themselves, as well as ammunition, as well as souvenirs.     One of the largest German and European horse shows has been held annually in winter in the German capital, Berlin, for 23 years.     In 2013, the number of exhibitors increased to 185 companies from five countries, the number of visitors exceeded 20 thousand.

More than 500 exhibitors offer their goods and services to equestrians; daily demonstrations, a show program, horse shows, and one of the most “American” entertainments - rodeos are held as part of the exhibition.

    EQUITANA Melbourne

    Every year, the major international horse show EQUITANA Melbourne takes place in Melbourne, Australia. It hosts competitions in various official equestrian disciplines, including the World Cup show jumping event, horsesball tournaments, reining championships and an equestrian exhibition where you can purchase various items of equestrian equipment, as well as rider equipment and souvenirs. In 2014, more than 300 companies took part in the exhibition.

    One of the most memorable parts of the program is the three-day “The Way Of The Horse”. Viewers witness how three different trainers at three different venues simultaneously work with young, unbroken horses. At the end of three days, a winner is selected. The entire event is built exclusively on soft working methods.

In addition to the fair, daily horse breedings of various breeds took place as part of the exhibition, as well as an equestrian show program, the highlight of which was the performance of the Andalusians.

    World horse show calendar

    From September 8 to 10, the 3rd International Exhibition “Equestrian Russia” will be held on the territory of the Maxima Park country complex.

    For the first time in our country, a joint project is being implemented, in which the largest equestrian club participates European level and professional organizers of horse shows. This partnership provides new opportunities to create a real equestrian festival that brings together industry professionals and all horse lovers.

    Over the course of three days, more than 500 horses of domestic and foreign breeds will take part in breed broods and shows, as well as in international show jumping competitions. Horses from all over Russia will come to Maxima Park near Moscow - Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Samara, Kaluga, Leningrad, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Rostov, Chelyabinsk, Saratov region, the republics of Mordovia, Adygea and Dagestan, as well as some European countries and states of the former CIS - Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania.

    Specialists from Holland, Italy, the USA, Belgium, Argentina, and Qatar will conduct seminars and master classes and take part in refereeing the championships.

    Every day in the Grand Manege you can see a show parade of horses of various breeds, including Andalusian, Friesian, Norwegian Fjord and others. A real highlight will be the performance of the smallest horse in Russia - the American miniature stallion Guliver (height at withers 45 cm, weight 7 kg) and the largest horse in our country - Shire Jedi (height 197 cm and weighing more than 1 ton).

    The first day of the exhibition will open with a litter of the Terek horse breed, which has almost disappeared in our time. Next, the program will be devoted to non-Olympic disciplines of equestrian sports. Leonid Shevchenko will hold a master class on driving, he will demonstrate the legendary Russian troika and different types European harnesses. As part of the “Horse Sense” project, Ulyana Yakovleva and her charming Tinker mare Cinderella will present the “10 Commandments of Horse Sense. The Russian national vaulting team will show demonstration performances. At the end of the performances, everyone will be able to try to ride a real vaulting horse.

    The program of the first day will be completed by the exciting show program “Western VS Classic”, which will clearly demonstrate the difference in the methods of training horses in the Western style and in show jumping, placing a master of sports in the Western saddle international class in show jumping Vladimir Beletsky under the leadership of the director of the Western sports school Natalya Anokhina.

    The program of the second day will begin with a master class on classical dressage by the famous Belgian trainer Helen Arianoff, a student of the legendary Portuguese trainer Nuno Oliveira. Participants of the festival of horses of heavy breeds will appear before the audience: Soviet, Russian and Vladimir draft horses, as well as foreign giants - English Shires, Belgian Brabançons and French Percherons. Impartial judging will be provided by Dutch specialist Toon Broijmans.

    In the afternoon, as part of the 15th Russian Championship, thoroughbreds will enter the arena Arabian horses. The winners of the ring will receive the right to participate in the World Championships in Paris in December 2017. For the first time, in honor of the anniversary, a class of foals under mares has been approved. Experts from Belgium, Argentina and Qatar were invited to judge.

    Sunday will open with a presentation of Oryol horses trotting breed“The Legacy of Count Orlov”, and then there will be a ring of horses of the Don and Budennovsky breeds “Gold of the Steppes”.     For visitors there is an extensive educational program.     In the lobby of the Grand Manege, visitors will be able to get acquainted with the work of equestrian photographers, artists and sculptors. The highlight of the exhibition is the exclusive photo exhibition of the famous animal photographer and blogger Igor Shpilenok “Mustang Island”.

    For children, in one of the arenas there will be a petting stable with ponies and miniature horses, competitions will be held there, and pony riding will be organized.

    In addition, simultaneously with the exhibition, the CSI-2*1* International Show Jumping Competition and the Russian Amateur Show Jumping Championship will be held at the Maxima Park Olympic Field. Competitions include competitions for children, youth, riders on young horses and amateur athletes, as well as routes at the international 2* level.
