The most resourceful, it seems, were the designers of the Bosco company, which since 2002 has been responsible for appearance Russian Olympic and Paralympic teams. In 2016, the presentation of the uniform resulted in another scandal around the Russian Olympic team: the dress version turned out to be too similar to the uniform of the Ukrainians at the 2008 Games in Beijing. For Bosco, this is not the first such incident - when in 2012 the company was developing Olympic equipment for Ukrainians and Russians, the patterns on the uniforms of both teams were so similar that, without looking closely, they could only be distinguished by color.

The coincidences don't end there: the team's ceremonial uniform South Korea also looks like a Russian one. The Koreans are unlikely to be called the most stylish team of the year, but certainly one of the most technologically advanced. Local designers have figured out how to protect athletes from the Zika virus (a virus carried by Aedes mosquitoes that broke out in Brazil a year ago): the fabric of their uniforms is impregnated with a mosquito repellent. The Russians solved the issue of protection against the virus differently: according to the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, for this purpose they lengthened the sleeves of the athletes' clothing.

In Australia, the issue of well-being of members of the national team was also taken seriously. Back in the spring, a local pharmaceutical company announced the creation of condoms that prevent the spread of the Zika virus, which is also sexually transmitted, and promised to supply its athletes with them. The Australians reacted more simply to the design of the uniform: the shoes were provided to the Olympians by the democratic American brand Tom's, and the local sports brand Sportscraft was involved in the development of clothing.

Not all countries immediately adopted the form of their team. In Iran, it had to be hastily redone: the inhabitants of the country compared the first version of the costumes of Iranian Olympians with a classic orange-and-blue eraser. The design seemed so bad to the Iranians that one of the most popular jokes was about ISIS, which should take responsibility for its development. The design was changed, but the current version of the country's residents also does not arouse enthusiasm - now it is compared with a clown costume or pizza, but nothing can be changed. A heated debate over the Olympic uniform has also unfolded in Georgia, where more than 7,000 residents of the country have signed an online petition against the adopted design. In their opinion, it is more suitable for a folklore ensemble than for athletes at competitions.

The revival in RuNet was caused by the presentation of the American uniform from Ralph Lauren. The reason was T-shirts made in national colors - red, blue and white. The stripes, repeating the sequence of colors on the Russian flag, have become an occasion for the most daring assumptions. Someone hopes that this is how the designer secretly expressed support for Russia; others joke that the medals of American athletes will count towards the Russian national team, which has thinned due to the doping scandal.

Traditionally, once every two years we become not only witnesses of the greatest sports achievements humanity, but also as spectators of a kind of Olympic fashion parade. And, of course, every season we have favorites. Flipping through archival photos summer games and show the outfits of whose teams are worthy not only of the stadium, but also of the podium.

The women's half of the German Olympic team at the Olympics in Berlin, 1936. The first year when a single uniform for the entire team began to come into fashion. The Germans followed this trend with their characteristic pedantry.

The history of a single Olympic uniform has been going on for 80 years. For the first time, the idea of dressing all athletes from the same team sounded the same at Summer Olympics in Berlin in 1936. Since then, the production of clothes for Olympians has become the privilege of the most eminent couturiers around the world. Over the years, Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Cardin, Jacques Esterel and many others worked on the uniform for athletes. Since about the 80s, the tradition of tailoring Olympic clothing has passed to large companies, but the desire to dress athletes not only comfortably, but also fashionably, has not disappeared anywhere. Marie Claire carefully studied historical photographs from various opening ceremonies of the Games and identified the 10 most stylish and interesting images of Olympians.

Netherlands, Berlin Olympics, 1936

Olympics in Berlin, 1936. In the center is an athlete from the Netherlands (Holland), right hand from her - girls from the German national team (in trousers), on the left - representatives of the US Olympic team.

Unfortunately, there are practically no archival photographs from the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Berlin. There are only reports from the competitions and a few photos of the awarding of the Olympians. But we managed to find this beautiful photo (above), which shows girls from the teams of the Netherlands (in the photo they are in the center), Germany and the USA. In addition, we found photos of the uniforms of the teams from Australia, Japan, Hungary and Argentina. And in comparison between them, the form of the Netherlands national team won.

Olympic kit of the Dutch team in 1936

The uniform of the girls from the Netherlands at the Olympics in Berlin, 1936

The Dutch women look really stylish and, as they say, “in shape”: as you can see in the photo, the girls are dressed in light, straight pleated skirts and feminine jackets without buttons, tied at the waist with a strap. The coat of arms of the Kingdom flaunts on the breast pocket (it looks much more organic than the swastika of German women, located on pullovers right in the area solar plexus). Also pay attention to shoes: unlike, for example, American women, all Dutch women are shod in the same way. White shoes with a neat heel with straps look much more appropriate than the motley shoes of the athletes from the United States, and more solemn than the simple sneakers of the Germans.

Great Britain, Tokyo Olympics, 1964

Demonstration of dress uniform for British Olympians, 1964

At the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, the athletes of the British team came out in elegant suits of pale pink and blue. The image was complemented by snow-white pumps and short gloves. Unfortunately, there are no publicly available photos of English athletes from the opening ceremony of the Games, but we have the opportunity to visually evaluate the dress uniform of the Olympians on models. Looks great.

France, Mexico City Olympics, 1968

Models demonstrate the Olympic uniform for French athletes. In a crimson jacket - designed by Jacques Esterel, 1968

Outfit for French athletes in 1968 was developed by the famous Parisian couturier Jacques Esterel. Graceful girls in short dresses of rich turquoise color and neat pumps certainly attracted attention.

Are we the only ones who think this shot looks like the arrival scene of the girls from the Charmbaton Academy of Magic? French Olympic team of 1968.

The image was complemented by an elegant matching hat. It seems that the costume designers of the film "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" were inspired by this form when developing outfits for students of the French school of magic Beauxbatons.

Great Britain, Mexico City Olympics, 1968

Demonstration of the new Olympic dress uniform for British athletes, 1968. Far right is fashion designer Hardy Amies.

I must say that the elegantly dressed French team was in no way inferior to the British. Designed by fashion designer Hardy Amies, the British Olympic team uniform was presented in the late 60s with short straight-cut dresses with military-style decor elements.

1968 English Olympic uniform

The designer paid special attention to accessories. Please note that the girls are wearing fashionable fedora hats, similar to men's, but made in the same color as the dresses. On her feet are fashionable ballet flats with small heels. And the designer gave the girls a handbag each (it was not only fashionable, but also practical: in Mexico City, as in Rio today, it was better to carry everything with you).

Australia, Munich Olympics, 1972

Female athletes from Australia at the opening of the Games in Munich-1972

Looking at most of the appearances of the Australian team at the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games, it immediately becomes clear: fashion is clearly not about these guys. However, the exception to this rule has all happened. At the Olympics in Munich, Australian designers suddenly decided to improve and released their athletes in doll mini dresses in warm ocher color. Flirty cappies and elegant scarves successfully completed the look.

Great Britain, Montreal Olympics, 1976

Team Great Britain at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Montreal, 1976

This may not be the best appearance of the British Olympic team in terms of fashion and style, but everything is known in comparison: among many teams from different countries, British athletes looked elegant and very bright in English.

Models demonstrate the Olympic uniform for the British team, 1968

For the girls from the English national team, the designers proposed a sleeveless scarlet trapezoid silhouette dress, over which a short jacket of the same color was worn. The image of an elegant athlete was complemented by large white silk scarves and white wide-brimmed hats with a scarlet ribbon on the crown. Only the shoes were unusual - white espadrilles on a small wedge.

Russia, Athens Olympics, 2004

The Russian team at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympics in Athens

Inspired by the aesthetics of the romantic era of the 1930s, the dress uniform of the Russian national team, presented by Bosco di Ciliegi together with Etro, fell in love with not only fashion industry fans, but also sports fans at first sight. Graceful pleated skirts just below the knee, elongated jackets, milky socks and berets created a truly elegant and feminine image of our athletes. At the same time, the favorite styles of the 30s looked then, in 2004, very fashionable and modern. The full dress uniform of the Russian team was clearly created with a claim to firmly establish itself on the pages of the history of Olympic fashion, for which we honor it.

Jamaica, London Olympics 2012

Demonstration of the Olympic uniform and dress uniform for athletes from Jamaica, 2012

At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the Jamaican team stood out not only brilliant performance most fast man in the world of Usain Bolt, but also by how stylish the athletes looked at the opening ceremony of the Games. The design of the Olympic uniform was developed by the daughter of Bob Marley - Sedella, together with Puma. The clothes turned out to be very bright: acid yellow and green jackets in combination with black trousers and skirts with a print in the form of stylized zippers favorably emphasized the tanned skin of the athletes.

USA, London Olympics 2012

US Olympic Team at the Opening Game in London, 2012

At the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, the American team demonstrated its patriotism in all its glory. The athletes came out in white and blue preppy suits, designed by the famous Ralph Lauren, who, by the way, still dresses Olympians to this day. Navy blue jackets with gold buttons and a white A-line skirt just below the knee looked great on the athletes. Ralph Lauren also thought of accessories: a neat beret and thin scarves in the colors of the national flag gave the look a touch of Parisian chic.

Netherlands, London Olympics, 2012

But the most striking and memorable Olympic parade uniform was the Netherlands team. Everyone noted it, and there is a reason for it. The design bureau Suit Supply designed several sets of clothes for the Dutch team, playing on the then fashionable contrast of orange and cornflower blue.

The girls were offered small cornflower blue dresses with a length above the knees, a trapezoid silhouette, over which, in case of coolness (which is the order of things for London), they could throw on a double-breasted persimmon-colored trench coat. The men's costume consisted of trousers of the same persimmon color combined with blue-black blazers, under which white vests with a V-neck and contrasting stripes on the collar were worn. There were other variations of the dress uniform - they are also visible in the photo.

Fashion and sports companies that provide uniforms for national teams Olympic Games, are always on the winning side: increased attention is riveted to them, including the press. Below we have collected the most striking Olympic looks from the most famous fashion brands - Christian Louboutin, Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Lacoste and H&M.

Christian Louboutin for Cuba

Cuba is in fashion, and not only how tourist destination. And this makes the island even more attractive for sponsors. Cuban athletes are likely to look the most glamorous at the Olympics. In collaboration with the French online store SportyHenri.com, designer Christian Louboutin himself dressed and shod the Cuban national team in a good sense of the word. Together they provided equipment for special occasions. Non-standard models became a big test for Louboutin - in particular, the size of the legs of the wrestler Mihain Lopez Nunez - 51.5.

H&M for the Swedish Olympic and Paralympic teams

Swedish athletes at the Olympics in Brazil will once again wear H&M suits. In 2013, the retailer signed a four-year contract with the Swedish Olympic Committee, according to which H&M provides Swedes with clothes not only at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games, but also during training and during recreation in the Olympic Village.

The H&M brand has already published the first looks from its new sports collection For Every Victory, created in collaboration with the Swedish Olympic team. This line was launched on July 21st. The face of the line was a transgender woman Caitlyn Jenner, in the past Olympic champion Decathlon Bruce Jenner.

Stella McCartney X Adidas UK Olympic Team Clothing

It's not the first time Stella McCartney has been designing Olympic clothing. Two years ago, the British fashion designer already dressed English athletes as part of a collaboration with Adidas. In total, about 590 products were created for 900 Olympians.

Polo Ralph Lauren: U.S. Olympian and Paralympic uniforms

As in 2012, designer brand Ralph Lauren presented clothes for the American participants in the Olympic Games. The costumes are made in the colors of the national flag - dark blue, red and white. In this form, athletes will appear at the closing ceremony of the Olympics.

2016 OLYMPICS: US OLYMPIC TEAM IN CREDITS

Perhaps the same wave of interest in sports uniforms is caused only by international ones. As for the 2016 Olympics, the famous American sports columnist Yahoo Sports Kevin Kaduk first drew attention to the fact that the form of the US Olympic team in color resembles the Russian tricolor. The reviewer noted that when the athletes' jackets are buttoned up, the print on the T-shirts in the neckline looks like the Russian flag.

Our athletes, of course, can unbutton their jackets, but the American continent would not want to look sloppy,

- ironically Kevin Kaduk.

In Russia, meanwhile, things are no better. Of course, no one placed the US flag on the uniform of the Russian Olympic team, but many Russians openly ridiculed the form of athletes in which they will represent the country on August 5 at the opening of the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

OLYMPICS-2016: RUSSIAN OLYMPIC TEAM IN PARADE FORM

The reason for the jokes was the phenomenon of “white pants” ambiguous in the post-Soviet culture. Many began to recall the image of the rogue, charming adventurer and "great schemer" Ostap Bender, who dreamed of leaving for Rio de Janeiro and walking there in white pants. In the film of the same name in 1968 with Andrei Mironov in leading role The "great strategist" pronounces the famous words:

Of course, you do not know about the existence of this city. Here is a clipping from a small Soviet encyclopedia, here is what is written here about Rio de Janeiro: one million one hundred and sixty thousand inhabitants ... One and a half million people, and all without exception in white pants

Even more ambiguous given the doping scandal Russian Olympians, looks like another Bender catchphrase:

Rio de Janeiro is the crystal dream of my childhood, do not touch it with your paws

Ostap alone did not end the matter. Most of all, the comparison with Buba Kastorsky, the charismatic inhabitant of Odessa from the cult Soviet film The Elusive Avengers, caused the most laughter. Buba, like a true dandy from Odessa, walked around in a straw boater hat, white trousers and a dark blue club jacket with a white border.

OLYMPICS-2016: RUSSIAN OLYMPIC TEAM IN PARADE FORM AND BUBA KASTORSKY

The parade uniform for the Russian Olympic team was traditionally created by Bosco Sport. The women's athletes' costume consists of cream pleated skirts below the knee, blue jackets, red striped blouses and red sneakers.

Not only Russians and Americans are not happy with the form of their Olympic teams. Temperamental Georgians also raised a scandal because of the dress uniform of the Georgian Olympic team.

Immediately after the publication of the photo of the farewell of 39 Georgian athletes to the Olympics in Brazil, a storm of negative comments arose on the Georgian Internet. Some are outraged that the Olympic uniform of Georgian athletes looks more like a folk costume than a formal sports uniform. Others note that the ceremonial clothing of athletes for participation in the 2016 Olympics does not even resemble a Georgian costume, but a costume created based on the folk attire of Asian countries. Others insist that sports uniform the Georgian Olympic team is too warm, for which Marika Kirvalidze, the head of the press service of the Olympic Committee, answered with reason:

It's winter in Rio

The sports uniform for Georgian Olympians includes dark maroon ties made of shimmering fabric for men, and for women - purse-string bags and “papanaki” hats with braid - this is an old men's headdress in Imereti ( historical region in western Georgia - approx. editions).

OLYMPICS-2016: GEORGIAN OLYMPIC TEAM IN PARADE FORM

Georgian cartoonist Nugzar Metreveli quickly reacted to the public process and created a caricature of the Georgian Olympic uniform, which is wildly popular:

The order of the form for the Georgian national team was carried out by the Olympic Committee, which ordered the production of clothes for athletes in the Samoseli Pirveli atelier, which is engaged in sewing clothes according to old patterns. The atelier is owned by businessman Levan Vasadze, who is often ridiculed in the Georgian press for his old-fashioned predilection for patriarchal values.

We decided that the costumes should be made in Georgia by a Georgian company. I think it's logical. We wanted this money to be spent in Georgia,

First vice-president of the Olympic Committee Elguja Beriashvili commented on the form of the Georgian Olympic team.

Preparations for the 2016 Olympic Games are underway on all fronts. In addition to sports forecasts and technical issues - the unpreparedness of stadiums and hotels in Rio de Janeiro has already angered Tina Kandelaki - there is also an aesthetic aspect. Today in Paris, the presentation of the Olympic uniform of the French team took place, shortly before that, the equipment of athletes was presented in Italy, the USA, Canada and Russia.

HELLO.RU talks about the most interesting uniforms of the future Olympics from different countries - from Russian patriotic T-shirts to South Korean anti-virus pants.

1. Australia

Australia 2016 Olympic kit
Mint blazers, silk gold scarves, snow-white shorts and skirts - all this would perfectly set off the tan of Australian stewardesses. To see such a kit on the athletes of the Olympic team, you see, is rather unusual. The author of the original uniform of the national team of the kangaroo was the Australian company Sportscraft, and the white rag boots were sewn by the Americans - Tom's. Its presentation was also a match for the uniform: athletes - cyclist Kaarl McCulloch, rugby player Ed Jenkin and others - posed in their freshly sewn suits right on the beach , on the shores of the Tasman Sea, and they were accompanied by hot Brazilian women.

2. USA

Team America uniforms designed by Ralph Lauren for the 2014 Winter Olympics have sparked outrage. New York Magazine, for example, devoted an entire post to the colorful costumes of American athletes. "This knitted mayhem would look more appropriate at a themed pajama party than at the real Olympics," the journalists wrote. Ralph Lauren was not offended by criticism, but took it into account, starting from scratch. Moreover, in the literal sense: the American uniform came out flawlessly snow-white, diluted with only small "patriotic" blotches of blue-red. Considering the team's consistent success in past Olympics, this year's "white canvas" is quite capable of acting as a backdrop for shining medals.

The form of athletes from the United States in 2014 was too defiant - even the Americans themselves thought so

3. France

If Olympic medals presented for style, the French team would certainly hit the jackpot. For the past two years, the French brand Lacoste has been responsible for the images of athletes, which does not focus on convenience alone. Even in this seemingly unfashionable sphere, the French assert their status as one of the most stylish nations in the world.

The French will go to the Olympics in Rio in a uniform made in the colors of the national flag: blue, white and red. Practical sets are made by their functional units - cotton sweatshirts, rain-resistant ponchos, windproof trench coats. And narrowed cropped trousers and snow-white, in the trends of this summer, shoes are called upon to remind you of your home.

The idea was to make something chic that reflects the spirit of the Lacoste house founded by tennis legend René Lacoste. “We managed to do it very accurately,” he says. creative director brand.

By the way, the success of the national team along this path was also noted in Sochi in 2014, where the athletes went in classic gray coats, picked up by a belt, and light cropped down jackets.

4. Russia

Svetlana Khorkina, Alexei Nemov and Tatyana Navka in the 2016 Olympic uniform

The Russian team, although it follows world fashion trends - for example, dresses patriotically in the colors of its native flag, still tries to create its own. This year, for example, our athletes decided to bring the Cyrillic alphabet to the masses: their sweatshirts, sweatshirts and T-shirts are proudly decorated with the word "Russia".

The form for the national team of our country was traditionally created by the BOSCO company, which has been working in this direction for 15 years. When working on the form, the creators relied on the concept of Russian avant-garde artists - Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky and others. Each set of equipment included 48 items, including T-shirts with the image and symbols of the sport for each athlete.

The Russian avant-garde is one of the brightest pages in the history of our art. But the most important thing is that it is precisely the avant-garde. In this form, our team simply cannot be behind,

The head of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov noted.

5. Canada

Team Canada at the 2016 Olympics The kit for the Canadian national team this year was presented by the design duo Dsquared2. Windbreakers with the same maple leaf, sweatshirts and pants with a comfortable elastic band - the creators have relied on simplicity and functionalism. The designers themselves, however, do not recognize the excessive asceticism of the costumes, describing their work with the following words: "This is an innovative mix of two different worlds: fashion and sports." No matter how you look at it, the official lookbook does not convey the innovative motives of the collection, it remains to see the Canadians in action.

6. Italy

Italy Olympic kit Maestro Giorgio Armani continues cooperation with the national Olympic Committee Italy as the official outfitter. This year, the designer invited the athletes to put on long-sleeved waterproof jackets (after all, it’s winter in Brazil in the summer!), Bermuda pants, shorts and classic polos with the beautiful slogan Fratelli d "Itali ("Brothers of Italy"). He held a presentation of the collection in familiar format - by arranging a fashion show in Milan.

7. UK

Great Britain new jersey by Stella McCartney Stella McCartney, who traditionally joined forces with Adidas, is again responsible for the spectacular exit of the British at the 2016 Olympics this year. At the official presentation of the form, it was noted that the new clothes are 10 percent lighter and thinner than they were at the games in London. Practical British have relied on convenience.

I want to benefit the athletes, but at the same time I want to please the nation,” McCartney commented on the collection.

Symbols so dear to the British heart are responsible for pleasure: the English rose, the Scottish thistle, the Welsh leek and, of course, the union jack. Trousers, t-shirts, sweatshirts and leggings adorned the national signs.

8. South Korea

South Korea jersey While all countries were preoccupied with the aesthetic side of the issue, South Korea set itself completely different tasks. The country's government is seriously concerned about the spread of the Zika virus in the southern hemisphere of the world - in Brazil, the epidemic has been raging for a long time, in South Korea, the first cases of infection occurred relatively recently. In this regard, the creation of the Olympic uniform was entrusted not to a fashion brand at all, but to a whole team of chemists and doctors. As a result, all sewn things turned out to be closed - no T-shirts and shorts. Plus, clothes and hats were treated with chemical mosquito repellents, it is these insects that carry the infection.

The kit of the South Korean national team is the safest and most technologically advanced
