What are the types of mormyshki? The best ice fishing jigs: tips for beginners Luminous hook jigs.

One of the parts of the winter tackle is a mormyshka. According to Wikipedia, this is a hook soldered into a tin or lead pellet. It takes its name from the mormysh - a small water crustacean.

Mormyshka is an important attribute of a winter fishing rod with a nod, it is an original Russian bait. Appeared in the middle of the last century as a result of an accident. At one angler, during fishing, a lead weight slipped onto the very hook and a “mad” bite began. Having comprehended all this, he began to catch on a new bait.

Winter fishing is varied and even more interesting than summer fishing. In all places that are inaccessible in summer, now you can just go and drill a hole. Although she has become passive, she is in the pond and does not stop eating.

To attract fish in winter, bloodworms are good bait - these are mosquito larvae. Red worms are visible in the water and are quickly eaten by fish.

Mormyshka fishing is the main thing in winter. But she also works in the summer. IN last years winter fishing with summer tackle is gaining popularity, for example, when fishing in a plumb line from a boat. It also shows good results on bottom gear.

On the first ice on a jig with a bloodworm, even those who do not peck at winter period, for example, chub.

The most catchy:

  • Balda Zhuk.
  • Tula Ant.
  • Salmo Drop.
  • Salmo Nymph with eyelet and glow powder.
  • Lucky John (Goat).
  • Ball Black.
  • Fraction.
  • Tula puck.

What is a mormyshka

Its design is very simple. A hook, usually smaller than No. 4, soldered into a piece of metal with a forearm. The metal is lead, tin. The forms of mormyshkas that are in stock with anglers are very diverse. They start from an elementary pellet - a load with a hook, to the most complex shapes and figures, decorated in all the colors of the rainbow. The first mormyshkas were similar to nozzles of animal and vegetable origin. The names are speaking: “bug”, “shot”, “ant”, “lentil”.

They also have a wide variety of sizes. There are mormyshki from 2-3 mm to 8-10 mm. Summer jigs are much larger than winter ones.

Traditionally, they are divided into winter and summer.

Winter jigs are used for catching low-activity fish. They are small in size, the color of the mormyshka is bright, they are supplied with different nozzles, all this is to attract winter fish.

In winter, the following types are used:

  1. Perch, size from 3 mm to 6 mm. , maggot.
  2. Sudakovaya, larger than all the others. The color is white, the shape is oblong.
  3. Beznasadnaya, usually small in size. The role of the bait is played by the mormyshka itself without any attachments.

Summer mormyshkas are large in size. This is dictated by the behavior of fish at different times of the year. After all, in summer the bite is much more active than in winter, the bite is more decisive. And the color of summer is completely different. For example, to catch crucian carp, you need to paint on a dung fly, which are full of everywhere in the summer.

The nature of their game also depends on the form. Believable movements similar to underwater inhabitants and "natural" behavior will ensure the catchability of the bait.

Flattened from above and below, during the posting, it raises a cloud of turbidity near the bottom. Mormyshka "droplet" and "pellet", hitting the bottom, create a cloudy cloud. It is so much like a living organism that the fish cannot swim past.

The "Black Widow" deviates along the vertical plane by 5-10 cm, which greatly provokes the perch.

Where there is mormysh in the silt, tackle similar to this crustacean is used. Its bottom is ribbed, the top is smooth and it moves as if sideways.

“Drop”, “shot”, “oatmeal” create fluctuations less visible to the fish. Such baits are suitable for fishing in the dead of winter, when a delicate game is needed.

A universal mormyshka with a hook No. 2.5-3, sinking to the bottom, enters the silt under its own weight. The hook remains at the top, the fish takes it painlessly.

Hooks on the mormyshka

Fishing with a mormyshka is a very delicate matter. Moreover, its weight itself is 3-5 g. Therefore, there are special requirements for hooks.

The most important condition is their thickness. There is an opinion that the thinner the hook, the better. But it's not for every fish. If you catch perch or zander, then yes. But if you are catching roach, then you need a thicker hook for thin lips. It is important to find the golden mean here.

The correct hook will be the one in which the sting is located parallel to the forearm. The length of the forearm also sometimes plays an important role in fishing. For example, when catching bream, they try to use a mormyshka with a short forearm. And when there is a bite on the bait with a nozzle, then they put a model with a long forearm.

Also, attention should be paid to the tip of the sting. When fishing, it becomes dull, especially when pulling the bait along the bottom. It is better to use hard hardened hooks.

The best material for hooks is steel wire. To increase the strength, it is also hardened.

There are enough manufacturing fantasies from both large manufacturers and anglers themselves. The most widespread of these baits is a mormyshka with three hooks - "" has the shape of an inverted drop or grain of wheat. Bream is sometimes well caught on it, planting bloodworms on all three hooks.

Mormyshka weight

Fishing jigs are divided by weight: light, heavy, super heavy.

Lungs provide more "fine" game. Some are shells with solder of their tin, various plates of copper and brass. Sometimes these mormyshki are made of plastic.

Sometimes fishing is effective when tying two mormyshkas on a fishing line: light on top, and heavy 15-20 cm below.

Light mormyshkas weigh 0.1, 0.5 g, and the largest ones for pike perch can be 30-35 g each.

heavy make lead, solder containing lead and tin. It is believed that such baits are best used at depth. Also in winter, in severe frost and wind, when the hole is quickly covered with ice, it is difficult to lower a light mormyshka to the desired depth. Here she comes with a heavy weight.

Heavyweight mormyshkas are suitable for a weak bite. They are made from metals heavier than lead. They are poorly processed and therefore damage the fishing line.

Mormyshka color

The fact that fish distinguishes color can be judged by how the color of males changes during spawning. And the color of the bait is very important when fishing. It is believed that the fish distinguishes objects at a distance of up to a meter. A such as trout, asp, grayling see moving objects already at a considerable distance.

Based on the experience of catching fish, some rules for choosing by color can be distinguished, that is, choose the color of the mormyshka:

  1. In the morning, catch on a shiny bait.
  2. At noon, put a dimmer one.
  3. At a depth on a sunny day, you can catch a shiny mormyshka.
  4. At night, fish do not distinguish colors, they have a sense of smell and touch.

For the difference in color, the depth of fishing also matters. For example, red color differs up to 5 meters of depth, further it is perceived as black. And the green color is different for fish up to 15 meters. From here it must be assumed that at depths over 10 meters the color of the bait does not matter.

Bloodworms are eaten by many fish, so they associate the red color with food. Gold and silver color makes the lure look like a fry. It also happens to be familiar and green - it looks like algae.

It has been established that roach, when fishing with mormyshka, likes a combination of black, white and orange colors, perch - red, yellow and black.

Moths and non-moths

The technology of manufacturing artificial baits does not stand still. Types of mormyshkas are also diverse in their structure.

There are rewinders - the same mormyshkas, only they are used without a hook attachment. And if the nozzle is almost always a bloodworm in winter, then these are also called mothless.

They must accurately imitate underwater animals that are not indifferent to fish. These are all sorts of goats, devils, witches, jellyfish. Mormyshkas bear the names of those living creatures they look like. Moreover, to improve the biting of the revolver, multi-colored threads and beads are tied to its hook.

Benefits of windless gear:

  1. The percentage of catch of a large individual is higher.
  2. With skillful play with such a bait, the activity of the bite does not fall.
  3. No time is wasted planting bloodworms.
  4. You can use different ways to play with tackle.
  5. The angler can find exactly his style of wiring.

More catchy models of non-rewinders:

  • "ant", which has a black color with white dots;
  • "devil" with a size of 4 mm;
  • "goat", which is tied at an angle of 45-50 degrees.

The colors of the cambric and beads on the hooks of the jig also matter. Experienced fishermen believe that the best combination of colors is two whites, or white and black.

Anglers especially like the “devil” for catching bream on the first and last ice. In the first month of freeze-up, he gives odds to all other models.

Winter mormyshki

Winter fishing for mormyshka is designed for inactive fish. Their size is small, the color is noticeable at a decent distance. In order to stir winter fish, a variety of baits are planted on hooks. The use of jigs with nozzles is best suited for beginners. Having lowered such tackle to the bottom, you can patiently wait for a bite.

The classic winter tackle for most anglers is the "devil". Nautilus has made a ribbed body shape that is very similar to many larvae and pupae. With the help of electroplating, many shades of colors are made. Tungsten solder was applied to the body of the "devil".

Advantages of the "devil":

  • vertical stable play;
  • the appearance is really similar to an insect;
  • prolonged use.

Also catchy domestic mormyshka for winter fishing considered a beetle. She is very similar to a living bug. It has two hooks that, when dropped into the water, look like the legs of a beetle. With a sharp swing of the rod, this bait describes a circle in a vertical plane - often it is at this moment that the bite occurs.

"Tula Ant" is made of tungsten blank. Thanks to polishing, it has an attractive game. A cambric is put into the hole for attaching the fishing line to eliminate chafing of the latter. "Tula Ant" is best suited for catching roach.

For beginner anglers, when fishing in winter, it is easier to master jigs with nozzles. They are not so demanding on the game given to anglers.

Summer mormyshki

In the summer, when there is enough heat, light and food in the water, the fish does not refuse to bite on mormyshkas.

The difference between summer gear and winter gear comes from the behavior of our inhabitants of reservoirs during the warm period. The fish are active in the summer and the bite is fast and decisive. In addition, fish appear in the summer, which sleep in the silt in the winter. These are crucian carp and tench, they also peck at the nozzle placed on the mormyshka.

These summer nozzles, in addition to the increased size, also have a different color. For example, a crucian mormyshka is painted like a dung fly pupa.

For fishing in the summer, various modifications of "", "devil", "goat", "ant" are used. In muddy water and at depth, it should be used from copper, brass, with shiny marks.

You can also use non-bait baits. When fishing without a nozzle, the hook is decorated with beads, black and red thread, a foam ball - it all depends on the angler's imagination.

Mormyshka fishing in the summer is a search for fish, patience and observation.

Mormyshka fishing technique

In addition to winter fishing for mormyshka, this bait is used on different fishing tackle. On float rod the game is set with the tip of a rod, or the current and wind are used. They also catch fish with it.

Do not forget that the main thing in catching this bait is its play in the water. The success of the whole fishing depends on the ability of the angler to set the game.

On the issue of working with a mormyshka to attract fish, there are many different instructions. Each angler has his own secrets of this game.

Working with this bait is a creative process. Muddle mud, drag it along the bottom, vibrate and freeze in the water column, make it plan, rotate in place - this is an incomplete list of actions during fishing.

Here are some tips for setting up a mormyshka game:

  • Gently lower it to the bottom, wait 3-4 seconds and just as smoothly raise it 5-7 centimeters above the bottom. Now throw it on the silt, after a delay, lift it back up. Due to this, turbidity is understood and sound waves are created.
  • Lower it to the bottom and stir it. This is good for clean water.
  • Lower to the bottom and stretch it along the bottom, stopping from time to time.

While playing, you need to observe those moments of the game when the fish pecked. When there is no bite at all, then you need to try to move the bait sharply, throw it to the bottom.

Mormyshka is also good because you can attach a different set of nozzles to it. Almost all anglers plant only bloodworms. But maggot and various larvae are also suitable.

They also use "sandwiches" - several baits are simultaneously put on a hook. The most widely used are bloodworm and maggot.

Winter mormyshka with a nod is especially successful fishing on the first and last ice. In these cases, the fish behaves actively and bait is not needed.

A lot of mormyshechnik use a product of the "devil" type. This is an effective lure. 2-3 cambric of different colors are put on its hook. Edible baits are not planted, because the "devil" is a no-bait. Moreover, it is believed that the catch on an empty mormyshka is the highest fishing skill.

How to tie mormyshki

The line tie pattern can have some effect on fish bites. There are indicators to pay attention to:

  • the stronger the knot, the greater the load the entire equipment can withstand;
  • the smaller the node in visual terms, the more invisible it is for the fish;
  • an incorrectly tied knot limits the play of the lure.

The correctness of tying the fishing line to the mormyshka:

  1. stretch the end of the fishing line into the hole;
  2. tie the fishing line in a knot;
  3. pull the loop on the forearm to the end of the hook;
  4. cut off any excess.

Many models have an eyelet at the top for attachment with a fishing line. For such the most reliable node there will be a simple noose.

When tying, you need to remember that hard metal can damage the fishing line and this will lead to a break. You can pick up a cambric in the hole in diameter and stretch the fishing line into it. Or take braided cord and make a loop on the mormyshka. Tie the fishing line to this loop.

It is important that the fishing line does not touch the sharp edges. It is better to choose baits with rings, they are easier to knit.

Making mormyshkas with your own hands

The nature of the angler is such that he is always looking for something new, his own. With a large number of artificial lures in trade, there are craftsmen who make these products at a high level.

A fisherman who has some skills in working with a bench tool will be able to make it on his own. There are a lot of ways to make these baits, here are some of them:

  1. Cutting is the easiest way. They cut out pieces of copper, stainless steel, bronze different figures. Hooks are soldered, finishing is performed.
  2. Soldering is a more complicated way, here you need to know how to solder metal. Also, parts are soldered from pieces of different tin, hooks are soldered, and they are protected.
  3. Casting - only tin and lead are used. Casting starts with making a mold. It is made of wood, plaster, aluminum. The molten metal is poured into molds, after cooling, the blanks are cleaned.

A good result is the painting of mormyshki, bought or made independently. Paint with nitro-varnishes, for example, nail polish. Pearly color is very like perch.

Industrial products sometimes have shortcomings, they must be eliminated. It is unpleasant when a bad hook is welded on from a seemingly good mormyshka. With the help of a soldering iron, it must be replaced with a better one.

In a lead mormyshka, it is impossible to replace the hook; when buying, you need to pay attention to this. The hook should be proportionate to the body of the bait itself.

Advantages and disadvantages of homemade products

Why do anglers make their homemade products? Doing everything himself, the angler selects its parameters for himself, his fishing conditions. Not everything from the store will please the avid mormyshechnik. Of the minuses homemade baits- only insufficient qualification of the manufacturer.

The advantage of winter fishing is that fish is available in all places of the reservoir. The main fishing tool at this time is a winter fishing rod with a mormyshka. It is simple even in home-made performance, it is cheap in the store. Only now you need to learn how to catch with it.

If we exclude all the preparatory work, then the main point is the bite. With any bite, an instant cutting is needed. Novice anglers usually do not notice this moment or are late with it.

If the angler is not sure that there was a bite, then just stop the game. With a pause, the bite is more noticeable.

Possible process of biting on winter fishing rod with mormyshka:

  • the nod went down - the bite of a perch;
  • the nod went up - a bite of a bream, a roach;
  • the nod froze, the way it usually pecks in the middle of winter.

At the same time, the peculiarity of catching is such that it is necessary to constantly play the game at a fast pace and with a small amplitude.

There are still plenty of opportunities for fishing with this tackle and they are far from being exhausted.

Mormyshka storage

In order for the best mormyshkas not to deteriorate during storage until the next season, they must be stored in a separate box and in a dry place. And for the safety of baits during fishing, any small box of bright colors is suitable. This is necessary so that it is convenient to store it in your pocket, and it is noticeable when lost.

Part 3. Other effective lures for catching the game.

Using the same principle of building a lure for ice fishing without a nozzle, you can make a whole family of mormyshkas that are catchable under certain conditions. Differing from each other in shape, size and weight, some of them will work better at a considerable depth and current, while others, on the contrary, only in shallow water. At the same time, some of them will be the most attractive for bream, while others are better for catching roach or, for example, perch.

Along with the described "nymph", the mormyshka "bug" has proven itself perfectly. She is especially good at perch fishing. The difference between the “bug” mormyshka and the “nymph”: if the width of the body in its widest part in the “nymph” is related to the length as approximately 1:3, then in the “bug” this ratio is from 2:3 to 1:1. A punch is also made of the appropriate type. "Bug" is performed only with a crown made of red copper, a black head, playing cambric - yellow + red or yellow + white.
If at the place of fishing significant depth and current do not allow “finding the bottom” with relatively light mormyshkas of the “nymph” or “bug” type, then it was possible with constant success to use the “flat” tungsten mormyshka known for fishing with a nozzle, painted black and equipped only one piece of yellow cambric 1.5-2 mm long freely moving along the hook. A stopper is also needed here. This mormyshka is shown in Figure 8. The design feature of mormyshkas of this type is as follows: a hole for passing the fishing line is drilled almost in the center of gravity with a slight offset along the axis of symmetry of the mormyshka body. It is clear that such a mormyshka will hang on a fishing line almost horizontally. When playing with tackle, the body of the mormyshka itself will play the role of a “wing” that is across the flow of water.
The body thickness of this type of mormyshka does not exceed 1.5 mm, the ratio of width to length is approximately 2:3. It should be borne in mind that what thinner body flat mormyshka, the more intense its play will be with a minimum amplitude of the nod.
Good results, but still less than when fishing with a "nymph", "bug" or "flat", gives fishing without a nozzle on the "devil". Here, too, to increase the effectiveness, all three hooks are equipped with freely moving multi-colored pieces of insulation about 1 mm long (on one hook - white, on the second - yellow, on the third - orange). It can be useful to put one white, yellow or orange glass bead on the fishing line above the “devil”.
I would like to offer another option for equipping the hook with almost any of the well-known mormyshkas for fishing without a nozzle - the so-called "rocking chair". It is shown in fig. 9.
The rocking chair is made from a piece of cambric with an outer diameter of 1-1.5 mm. The color of cambric is white, yellow or orange. One end of the cambric is heated and flattened to form a flat area. A hole with a diameter of 0.5 mm is drilled in it with a needle from a syringe. Through this hole, the "rocking chair" is put on the hook of the mormyshka. The head is formed over the tip of a heated soldering iron without contact with the heated surface. If you hold a piece of cambric long enough over a strong heat source, then its end will melt to form a ball. Heating is continued until the ball darkens to almost black. So that the "rocking chair" does not fly off the hook, the mormyshka is equipped with a cambric-stopper.
When playing with a jig, the "rocking chair" usually swings on the hook in sync with the vibrations of the jig. The ideal would be such a game in which the "rocking chair" begins to rotate on the hook, like a propeller. This can be achieved by bending the hook of the mormyshka in one direction or another.
Very actively, especially in the overwater season, perch and roach are taken to this mormyshka.
Fishing technique without a nozzle
The fishing technique is determined by the type and size of the fish living in the reservoir, the type of reservoir and its oxygen regime, the depth and strength of the current, the weather, the season, the time of day, the number of fishermen in a given place of the reservoir, in short, all those factors that affect activity in general. fish. It should be recognized that all factors affecting the activity of biting cannot be foreseen and taken into account. Therefore, we will focus only on the main points of the fishing technique itself.
Main technique when fishing for any bait without bait, there is a wiring, which, as a rule, starts from the very bottom and ends slightly above the horizon where bites usually occur. Sometimes it happens that the mormyshka cannot be lowered to the bottom (overgrown or cluttered bottom, frequent bites of small ruff, which is a big hunter for jigless mormyshkas) and raised above a certain level (strong wind, frequent bites of small perch and small roach). In many reservoirs, mainly along the last ice and during strong thaws, fish rise to half-water or stand under the very ice. This must also be taken into account and checked when fishing different horizons.
The quality of the wiring is decisive in the success of fishing. This implies the uniformity of the wiring throughout its entire length, while maintaining the frequency and amplitude of the nod oscillations. Failures and stops during wiring are not allowed. If this happens, then the wiring must be started again. Often success brings a short pause at the highest point of the wiring before returning the jig to bottom point. At this moment, there are quite a lot of bites of roach, bream, silver bream. The nature of the bite on a mormyshka without a bait depends on the type and size of the fish and its activity. As a rule, the larger and more inactive the fish, the less distinct the bite. Perch, ruff, chub and dace peck quite sharply and noticeably. Their bite looks like a sharp dive of a nod. In all cases, a quick and short sweep should be made at the slightest change in the nature of the movement of the signal part of the nod. In order not to break off the thin tackle when biting a large fish, it is better to cut the hook only with the hand. If the fish is not detected, then the mormyshka should be returned to its original position as soon as possible to start a new wiring. Concerning optimal frequency and the amplitude of the game, then here it is best to take a simple rule as a basis: the thicker the fishing line, the greater the depth and speed of the current, the greater the amplitude of the game and the lower its frequency, and vice versa. It should not only be forgotten that for the described baits there is a certain, albeit rather wide, range of changes in these parameters. You also need to remember the following common truth: the thickness of the fishing line and the size of the mormyshka should be minimal for specific fishing conditions and the expected size of prey. Catching the selected area of the reservoir, you should not "hatch" the fish. Greater success is brought by active study of the bottom relief and tempo search, which increase the chances of meeting with a noteworthy trophy.
What kind of fish is caught on the considered baits? Everywhere it was possible to successfully catch perch, roach, ruff, rotan, minnow, small pike, bites are quite frequent, especially on the first and last ice, white crucian carp and carp. The article deliberately does not describe the features of the technique of catching a particular fish, because, firstly, depending on the area, type of reservoir, age of the fish and fishing season, there are very significant differences, and secondly, I don’t want to deprive readers of the pleasure of self-comprehension tricks of catching on a baitless mormyshka.

Winter fishing is considered incredibly exciting, and enough complex process, because you have to catch not in the most best conditions, and the expectation of a bite is often delayed. For ice fishing it is important to choose the right gear and bait - after all, this is already half the success. One of the most popular is the mormyshka. It works effectively regardless of weather conditions, the main thing is to play the game correctly and choose a model.

On the shelves of stores there is a huge assortment of mormyshkas of different shapes, sizes and colors, which often makes the fisherman confused and greatly complicates the choice. What are the types of winter mormyshki? How will they affect the bite? There are a lot of questions, especially if you are new to this business. In fact, everything is quite simple, you just need to know some of the features of these lures.

Mormyshka is called an artificial bait, which is a hook soldered into a sinker made of any metal, with or without additional decoration. It can be counted.

Types of mormyshka, depending on the method of fishing:

  • with nozzle;
  • headless.

It is simply unrealistic to single out and describe all existing models, as they are constantly being improved. Almost every fisherman tries to supplement the acquired model with something new, which, in his opinion, will help increase the catch.

The most catchy winter mormyshkas:

Mormyshka with a nozzle: how and where to use

The main task of such baits is to deliver the bait to the bottom. For fishing use standard ice fishing rods. The color of the lure doesn't really matter.

Most often they are equipped with a single hook, on which the “treat” is put on. Hooks are additionally decorated with cambric, beads, threads bright colors, which allows them to become more attractive to fish and interest her.

In order to succeed and use such baits effectively, you need to be able to play the game correctly.

Advice! Wiring must be carried out slowly, smoothly, without sudden movements, but with a wide amplitude of oscillations.

Sometimes a fish can bite on a completely immobilized mormyshka, as it will be tempted by the bait.

There are a lot of species, one of the most popular is the “shotgun”. They come in 2 types: with a loop and a through hole. Usually, they are made of tungsten and lead, but you can find copper and even silver models. Tungsten models have become more popular, because they weigh more than lead ones, but the price is also high.

Photo 4. Packed pellets.

If fishing will take place at a shallow depth, then the material of manufacture makes no difference, you can use any option. When hunting will be carried out at great depths, and even with a strong current, then tungsten baits work more efficiently, since they are less blown to the side.

Another popular view jig with a nozzle is a “drop”. They are used both with a nozzle and without it. A “drop” with the same size as a “shot” will weigh a little more, which must be taken into account for certain fishing conditions.

Depending on the material and the specific gravity of the metal of manufacture, the weight of the bait is chosen. For standing ponds or small rivers with a small current, it is worth taking light or medium weight mormyshkas for winter fishing. They will be easy to manage, which is preferable for beginners. Heavy models will work best at great depths with strong currents, their weight will not allow water flows to wash the bait from place.

The number of hooks can be different: from one to four. The game will be much more interesting and effective with soldered single or double hooks. The tee will help create symmetry, with it the mormyshka can only move vertically.

No-baits

The main feature of this species is fishing with bare hooks. Their appearance resembles underwater beetles or insects, which fish love to feast on. The best tackle is the "balalaika". She will be able to feel any movements and react to them instantly.

The rod should be strong and durable, made of frost-resistant material with a comfortable handle. A nod should be chosen lavsan, as others are too hard. , but only if the fisherman can play an active and interesting game.

The most catchy jigs without a nozzle:

Mothless insects imitate insects almost perfectly, so the color of the models does not really matter. Form and ability to play correctly are important . Wiring should be fast, even a little aggressive, with a high frequency of oscillation.

With this bait you can catch almost any fish:

  • dace;

The choice of mormyshka depending on the period of winter

At the beginning of winter, there is enough oxygen in water bodies, so the fish are quite actively looking for food. Fishing during this period is the most effective and profitable, hunting is much easier. In December, you can use any jigs with or without nozzles, even large models will bring a catch.

With the onset of severe frosts, in the dead of winter, almost all fish move to deep holes, where the temperature is higher and there is more oxygen. During this period, it is quite difficult to catch a worthwhile trophy, you have to sit for a long time waiting for a bite and fight for each specimen.

Advice! It is better to use small mormyshkas for winter fishing, because the more passive the fish, the smaller the size of the bait should be taken.

If there is no biting for a long time, then it is worth changing the hole and trying to experiment with the color and shape of the mormyshka.

At the end of winter, when the ice begins to melt, the fish begin to actively seek food again. But, do not use large baits, it is better to use medium or small models. After all, therefore, her belly is clogged with caviar, and she may simply not be flattered by large prey.

Bait attachment methods

Many beginners are interested in the question of how to properly tie a mormyshka? After all, it must be fastened very firmly, so that even with a long and strong cast it does not fly off, or untie at the most crucial moment - during hooking or pulling out the desired prey.

Methods for tying mormyshkas depend on the type of bait itself. For example, if the model has a special hole, then first the fishing line must be threaded into it, and tied to the forend of the hook in the same knot as the hooks.

And how to tie a mormyshka with an eyelet? Quite simply, because the fishing line can be attached with any familiar and durable knot. Many fishermen prefer. Just do not forget that any knot is tightened wet in order to gain a better and more reliable grip.

Fishing with a mormyshka can bring a lot of fun and a decent catch to the fisherman. It is quite simple to manage it, the game is interesting and can attract many underwater inhabitants. A huge selection of different models allows you to choose exactly the bait that is suitable for certain fishing conditions.

The most important thing to remember, for a positive fishing result, is to choose a fishing spot, choose the right bait, play a frisky and active game, and don’t despair if it didn’t work out the first time.

A similar type of mormyshka is used in fishing, especially in winter. They belong to artificial baits and are widely used by lovers of winter fishing, both predatory and non-predatory. The wide popularity of bait-less mormyshkas for winter fishing is associated with ease of use and high catchability. With the help of this type of mormyshka, it is possible to catch both a small fish and a trophy specimen.

Mormyshkas can be bought in the fishing department of the store or made by yourself, especially since it is not at all difficult.

Such artificial lures were not recognized by anglers for a long time, as they were surrounded by a number of speculations that diverged from reality. Here are some of them and examples of their refutation:

  1. According to many "experts", the use of baitless jig requires certain skills that are inherent only to experienced fishermen. In this regard, fishing with these baits, especially for beginners in winter fishing, is accompanied by difficulties and lack of catch. To be honest and fair, any type of fishing requires certain skills and knowledge, including the behavior of fish. To reach a certain amateur level, you need experiments and training, like in sports. Without such an approach, there will be no result, especially positive. Hoping for a big catch after going fishing just once is simply not serious.
  2. No-bait mormyshkas are considered narrow direction baits, allowing you to catch only large fish and a certain type. There is an opinion that each type of fish needs its own bait and its own wiring. If you take a roach, then for catching it you need a small bait with specific movements and range of motion. In practice, everything is completely different: a baitless mormyshka equally effectively catches fish different types and sizes. Much here depends on the design features of this small but effective bait.
  3. You can't get without replanting on the hook good result. Many winter fishing enthusiasts insist on this principle. Unfortunately, they forget that you can also fish with a jig in the summer, when you can do without an additional bait. As for the additional bait on the hook when fishing in winter, it sometimes helps out if there is practically no bite. If the fish is actively feeding, then it takes a baitless mormyshka with the same frequency as a mormyshka with additional bait. Sometimes ordinary, multi-colored beads attract fish more effectively than live bait, so this attribute is always present on these baits.

The effects of headless mormyshki

This type of mormyshka is especially effective in the active behavior of the fish. In such conditions, the fish are interested in all the proposed baits. Therefore, planting a bloodworm in such conditions can be regarded as a waste of precious time.

There are cases when certain models of baitless mormyshkas were of interest to the fish even in the absence of a bite, when they did not even react to bloodworms mounted on the mormyshka hook. Such facts indicate the unpredictability of fish and this is not at all surprising, since fishermen regularly encounter such facts. She bites today, and tomorrow she can refuse any bait, including those with a nozzle.

The reaction of fish to baitless mormyshkas is associated with some points, such as:

  • With an active lure action that attracts even sleepy fish. Thanks to the correct and active actions of the angler, it is possible to awaken the instinct of a predator in the fish, which can provoke him to attack even in the absence of appetite. Therefore, we can safely say that 50% of the effectiveness directly depends on the actions of the angler.
  • With the presence of acoustic waves emanating from the bait, as a result of its movement. Fish are able to respond to acoustic vibrations from a considerable distance.

A special place in fishing is occupied by artificial lures that can create optimal vibrations. Such mormyshkas include the following models:

  1. Uralochka. This is a universal bait that allows you to fish, both without an additional nozzle and with it. It is really possible to pick up a Uralochka for any fishing conditions, thanks to the presence of models of various colors. Black or tungsten colors are considered the most popular, although other coloring options are also popular. Much depends on the conditions of fishing and the nature of the reservoir. As practice shows, Uralochka successfully catches bream and other types of fish.
  2. nymph. This type of mormyshka belongs to the classic ones, due to the changed shape and a set of multi-colored cambric or beads that look like insect wings when it enters the water. Its design is such that one part of the bait can move, while the other part remains stationary. As a rule, the part where the hooks are located moves. You can find various specimens that differ in coloring, but the classic nymph has a yellow and black coloring.
  3. goat (goat), which is somewhat similar to the nymph, both in form and construction. But this is at first glance, but if you look at it carefully, then by design it turns out to be inverted, relative to the hook. The goat has a unique game due to its inverted shape. Works well when catching roach.

Where do you get non-attached mormyshkas of unusual shapes?

Lures such as devils, nymphs, Urals and goats are special types of baits. The standard models are more droplets and pellets, which can also be used with or without nozzles.

Classic models of mormyshkas do not enjoy much attention from anglers, since they practically do not bite big fish, but only the ubiquitous small perch, although there are lovers who are satisfied with small perch: they just enjoy frequent bites. There are several ways to get mormyshkas of special models:

  1. The easiest option is to buy in a fishing shop, although it is important to know what exactly you want to buy and with what characteristics. In addition, it is desirable to be able to distinguish a high-quality mormyshka from an outright marriage, which is plentiful in stores. Along with this, unscrupulous sellers can "shove" a completely different model that is not in demand, looking at the fact that there is a noticeable gap in these issues. Of course, you will be able to catch at least some fish, but you should not count on good catchability.
  2. Make your own bait at home, which is what many anglers do. There is nothing complicated here, there would be desire and interest, especially since large expenditures of materials are not required. Unfortunately, not all anglers are ready to spend their free time on this. Ah, in vain! This approach has its advantages, and the most important thing is the quality, which is always guaranteed.

Making do-it-yourself nozzleless mormyshkas

For those who decide to give preference to home-made mormyshkas, it is advisable to use some recommendations. In addition, you need to be prepared for the fact that not everything will work out the first time. Recommendations may be of the following nature:

  1. I catch any fish in the winter, especially on a bare hook, almost no one practices. In any case, in order to attract fish, you need to use additional elements, such as multi-colored beads or cambric. Various materials can serve as a material for their manufacture, from plastic to foam, if it is necessary to provide additional buoyancy to the mormyshka.
  2. To fill molds with lead or solder, it is enough to have a soldering iron with a power of 40-60 watts. Before the process itself, the material is finely cut into pieces and soldering acid is added to them. After pouring and cooling, the bodies of mormyshkas should be immediately washed with water and detergent.
  3. To make the soldering iron work more efficiently, it is advisable to wrap its heater in several layers of foil or in asbestos. This option is also possible: first a layer of asbestos, and a layer of foil on top. In order not to fool around, it is enough to get a more powerful soldering iron, especially since there is not so much material to melt.
  4. For the manufacture of such models of mormyshkas, it is better to choose hooks with a long shank: there should be enough space for additional elements, such as beads.
  5. At the manufacturing stages, it should be remembered that in the process of attaching the mormyshka to the fishing line, it must have a certain angle of inclination, otherwise effective fishing will not work. As a rule, this is achieved by moving the attachment hole to the back of the mormyshka body.
  6. You can not make holes in the mormyshkas, but solder loops of wire of a suitable diameter to them.
  7. As nozzles, it is possible to use old plastic cases from ballpoint pens.

It is very realistic to make most of the complex bait-less mormyshkas, which are especially popular with anglers, with your own hands. Before manufacturing, it is desirable to prepare all the necessary forms and all the necessary materials:

  1. Devils are characterized by a conical shape and are mounted on a fishing line in a vertical position. As for their manufacture, here, it all depends on the imagination of the angler. Mormyshka is equipped with either 2 or 4 hooks, which can be tied both rigidly and freely, moving over a small gap. A similar mormyshka, which has 2 hooks, is also called a goat.
  2. Uralochka refers to the classic mormyshka model, which imitates the appearance and movements in the water of the amphipod. Mormyshka is also considered universal, since it can be used both with additional nozzles and without them. This lure is great for catching bream.
  3. The cat's eye has recently begun to interest anglers, increasingly competing with such mormyshki as devils and carnations. The thing is that its design is fundamentally different from the design of many mormyshkas. It is made from a translucent bead, which, moving in the water, creates a lot of highlights that attract fish. Such a bait is easy to make for catching a specific type of fish, coloring it accordingly.
  4. Medusa also has an interesting solution, which is based on the location on the bait of a large number of hooks that can move freely, resembling the tentacles of an unknown creature. And, nevertheless, the jellyfish actively attracts fish. Such mormyshki as fungi belong to one of the varieties of jellyfish.
  5. The nymph is characterized by an elongated body and a hook that is securely fixed in her body.
  6. The pellet is one of the most simple species artificial baits. The basis of the jig is a bead, usually silver or black. The pellet is suitable for all types of postings. The disadvantage of such a mormyshka is only that a small fish pecks at it.
  7. Papuans or cigars, as they are also called, are different unusual shape and do an excellent job of catching scavengers and bleak. Despite this, they are not very popular.
  8. Balda consists of a body of a regular, arbitrary shape, with two hooks attached next to it, which move freely, imitating the movements of larvae. Balda perfectly catches a perch, and the presence of two hooks minimizes the exit of a predator. The perch has rather weak lips and the presence of two hooks reduces the likelihood of coming off. The technique of bald fishing is somewhat different from the technique of catching other types of jig.
  9. The ant is distinguished by the presence of a chain and does an excellent job of catching any kind of fish.

Mormyshki with additional nozzles

Basically, anglers use baitless mormyshkas in their practice, although there are universal models that, if necessary, can be used with additional nozzles, which is very important when fishing in winter. The process of catching jigs with a nozzle is somewhat different and has its advantages. For example:

  1. You don’t have to look for a fish that is hungry enough to swallow everything that is offered to it. The main thing is to find a fish stop, then drill a hole and feed it, and then fish in one place for almost the whole day. At the same time, it is not recommended to feed often and a lot, otherwise the fish will be satiated and will no longer be interested in bait.
  2. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to fish in one place in winter. This is the specificity of winter fishing.
  3. Particular attention should be paid promising places, where there are underwater thickets of vegetation, places where there are a lot of snags and fallen trees, as well as sections of old channels, and in general, water areas with complex relief, where there is a significant depth or depth differences. When there is a warming outside, it is better to look for fish in the shallows, where a variety of fish move in search of food. Despite this, large fish can remain at depth.
  4. Fish such as silver bream or bream prefer to be within the wintering pits, where they have the opportunity to feed themselves. In such conditions, you can always be with a catch, without even feeding holes additionally. It is enough to drill a hole in the right place.
  5. Winter fishing is different in that not so many baits can be used, since most of them simply cannot be found in winter. The most common are caddis larvae or bloodworms. Some anglers manage to find a worm or maggot, although this is not at all easy, which does not give bad results.
  6. When fishing for mormyshka in the summer, especially not predatory fish, semolina talker will go.

Classic mormyshkas, such as a shotgun, do not have their own game, but if the same bloodworm is hooked to it, the bait will begin to make movements in the water that are attractive to the fish, being in free fall. As a rule, the shot attracts the perch the most.

An important role in the use of mormyshkas is played by the design of the nod, or rather the material from which it is made. The most modern nods are made of lavsan, since it is not afraid of low temperatures and is sensitive to every, even the most insignificant bite. Despite this, each angler has his own nod, made by himself and, as they believe, from the best material.

Mormyshka fishing technique

The effectiveness of any mormyshka increases significantly if you use correct technique postings. In addition, there are other nuances of winter fishing. Such subtleties of fishing include:

  1. If a nozzle is used, then the process of putting it on the hook should last a minimum of time, since in the cold it freezes very quickly, especially if it is a live bloodworm.
  2. The concept of how to properly manipulate the bait does not come at the first fishing trip. To have at least some experience, you should regularly visit the reservoir. If someone thinks that everything is quite simple here, then they are deeply mistaken. Fishing is hard work, with constant experimentation that often leads to failure. You need to be prepared for this, because after the first failures, the desire to visit reservoirs may disappear in order to catch fish and relax.
  3. The implementation of cuttings, especially timely ones, also leaves its mark on the process of productive fishing. When fishing with mormyshka, hooks should be regular, even with minor bites. This is essential for successful fishing. Many anglers ignore the smallest bites, believing that this is just a game of tackle, and react only to large ones, thereby losing part of the catch. This is especially true in conditions where the fish behaves cautiously.
  4. The moment of playing is the most important part of the fishing process. When fishing in winter, gear with a thin line is mainly used. Therefore, it is very important to pull the fish out so carefully that it does not break the thin line. This is achieved due to the constant tension of the fishing line. In other words, this process needs to be felt in order to be controlled, and this is achieved only as a result of many years of fishing trips. You always need to be prepared for the fact that a specimen may peck, which may not crawl into the hole. There should always be a tool at hand with which you can expand the hole.
  5. In the event of a bite of a large specimen, it is unlikely that it will be possible to pull it out of the hole without a hook. Therefore, such a tool must be present in the arsenal of any angler.
  6. The fish must be unhooked fairly quickly as it may confuse the angler by tangling or breaking the line already on the ice. It should be remembered that the fish is a living creature that will resist to the end.

Catching roach on a baitless mormyshka

Roach, like perch, is always found in the fisherman's catch. Roach is caught, as a rule, on bait-less mormyshkas. There are options that provide a regular catch of this type of fish. It is enough to pay attention to the following points:

  1. Roach is best caught in forests, which are appearance similar to carnations, but with a more curved shape. They are made quite simply: a tungsten wire is wound around the shank of the hook. The result should be a bait weighing 0.32-0.35 grams. This is quite enough, since roach is caught at a depth of no more than 4 meters.
  2. The nature of the game of the forest is more like the game of the Ural, but with one difference - the mormyshka is constantly in horizontal position regardless of the nature of the wiring. As a result of this, the hook makes independent movements, attracting roach, sometimes quite large.
  3. Roaches, especially large ones, prefer fast aggressive wiring, which depends on the angler's manipulations. In the process of these movements, one should not forget about pauses. It is during the pauses that bites are made. Small-amplitude, but frequent movements of the mormyshka attract small individuals more, although the number of bites can be much larger.

Conclusion

Fishing, especially in winter, when baitless mormyshkas are used for catching fish, requires certain skills. In order to catch fish in winter, you will have to work hard: what is it worth even drilling holes, the number of which can be within tens. This is due to the fact that you have to look for fish in winter, and if the reservoir is also unfamiliar, then hard work is provided. Be that as it may, this does not stop lovers of winter fishing, although this is not surprising.

Everyone wants to leave the city for the weekend away from daily problems in order to breathe clean winter air and gain energy and strength. Therefore, many anglers are more focused on recreation than on the catch. Some of the fishermen go out in order to experiment or try out a new bait or new tackle. In any case, this is necessary, because only in this way can you count on productive fishing.
