Natalya Ishchenko is a Russian athlete, one of the main stars of the national and Olympic team in synchronized swimming. During her career, the synchronized swimmer became the world champion 19 times, conquered the top of the European championship 12 times and climbed to the top step of the Olympic podium five times. She is the only athlete in the history of the European Championships to win all four events in one tournament.

Natalya was born in the city of Smolensk, but she considers Kaliningrad to be her native place, where the future champion spent her childhood and early youth. The girl was five years old when her mother took her daughter to sports complex"Youth", which released a lot professional athletes. At first, Ishchenko was engaged in two disciplines at once - rhythmic gymnastics and synchronized swimming.

Then, at the age of nine, after her parents divorced, she began to spend more time in the pool and gym than at home. Then it became clear that sport for her could turn out to be not just a hobby, but a future profession. Natasha had to make a difficult choice between a gymnastic carpet and a swimming pool.

The girl stopped at synchronized swimming. First of all, there Natasha was supported by the honored Kaliningrad coaches Svetlana Ustyugova, Lada Stepanovich and Lyudmila Mizina. In addition, it turned out that Ishchenko's body itself seemed to be intended for a water sport.

The girl's lung capacity is approximately 6.5 liters, which is almost three times that of the average person. Thanks to this, the synchronized swimmer is able to easily hold her breath underwater for at least 3.5 minutes.

When Natalya Ishchenko was 14 years old, the girl was noticed by the leaders of the Moscow Olympic Center water sports, which prepares future champions in synchronized swimming, diving, speed swimming and other types of competitions. Later, Natalya entered and graduated from the Russian State University in Kaliningrad.

Sport

The first big competition, which revealed the talent of Natalia Ishchenko, was the European Championship in Madrid, Spain. There, the young synchronized swimmer won the first medal in the adult championship. A successful start led to the fact that today the athlete has collected 19 gold and 2 silver medals of the world championships, which she brought from Montreal and Melbourne, Rome and Shanghai, Yokohama, Changshu and Kazan.

Another girl won the European Championships in Budapest, Eindhoven and London. The year 2010 stands out in Ishchenko's career. She set a record by winning in all types of disciplines that are played out in synchronized swimming - combined, group, solo and duet. The girl herself believes that she is comfortable performing alone in a solo program, since she does not need to monitor the actions of her partner.

However , experts highly appreciate the duet performances of the sportswoman with her colleague in the national team . On Olympic Games Ah 2012 in London, the water dance of synchronized swimmers lifted this couple to the main step of the sports Olympus. Moreover, Natalya demonstrated a victorious performance, being unhealthy: the day before she caught a cold and entered the pool with a temperature of 38 degrees.

Sports fans from Russia hoped that Ishchenko would help the Russian team win new awards at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. And the girls completed the program to the maximum, having won gold in group and duet competitions. Natalya Ishchenko became five-time champion OI.

Personal life

2010 in the life of Natalia Ishchenko became a landmark not only because she set a record in Budapest, winning everything that was possible. Then she changed her marital status, getting married in mid-December. Sergey Anikin became the chosen one of the synchronized swimmer. He is also an athlete, a silver medalist of the European Diving Championships. After completing his career, he went into business.

Together with his wife, Sergei opened a school for the preparation of future champions "START!".

The future spouses met in the 10th grade at school. Over time, the relationship of the couple moved to new level and eventually grew into a family.

And three years after the wedding, Natalya and Sergey became parents: a son was born, who was named Semyon. Surprisingly, Ishchenko did not interrupt training in the pool until the last months of pregnancy. Perhaps this helped the young mother to quickly regain strength and return to big sport. According to the synchronized swimmer, the girl and her husband are planning to send the child to sports, but let Semyon choose which one.

After the birth of her son, Natasha won another Olympic medal. The girl's husband did not go to the competition: the man traditionally watched the broadcast on TV.

The life and career of a synchronized swimmer are watched by thousands of subscribers on the social network " Instagram". The girl regularly shares personal and work photos with followers.

In their free time, the family likes to travel or spend time with friends outside the city. Natalia is also a good cook. The girl herself prepares casseroles, pancakes, yogurts. The synchronized swimmer tries to eat properly, which she also teaches her beloved son.

Natalia Ishchenko on training days could only be seen in tracksuits. But later, the champion admitted that she looks different on the weekend: the girl loves dresses and heels.

Natalia Ischenko now

In 2017, the career biography of the athlete made new round. In April, the girl was appointed to the post of interim deputy chairman of the government of the Kaliningrad region. Natalia began to supervise agencies for sports and youth affairs. Since it is problematic to combine such a position and synchronized swimming, Ishchenko decided to complete sports career.

Already in October of the same year, the governor of the Kaliningrad region signed a decree appointing Natalya Ishchenko to the post of Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kaliningrad Region.

In April 2018, a total dictation took place. In Kaliningrad, the athlete tried herself as a dictator.

From June 2 to 4, Kaliningrad became one of the venues for the event called "Media Expedition". The goal of this international company is to bring together young leaders involved in television, photo and radio journalism. 10 bloggers from different countries became participants. Young people have created a media guide for foreign fans.

On June 3, Natalya Ishchenko met with the project participants and shared in an interview that she was glad to be the ambassador of the World Cup and part of this important event for the country.

How to force eight different beautiful girls live, act as a whole? Is it just the most severe discipline and daily 10-hour workouts? How are performance programs created that the whole world recognizes as masterpieces? Who and how makes the Russian synchronized swimming team absolutely invincible? We will learn about what was left behind the scenes of the victorious performance of our synchronized swimmers in Rio de Janeiro, and get acquainted with the private life of the “Russian mermaids”, where they also have to fight. But not for Olympic gold, but for personal female happiness ...

We will show the real behind the scenes of the Russian national team, where a homely atmosphere reigns, where the girls are not shy about being themselves. Fragments of an amateur film shot by one of the champions - Alexandra Patskevich.

They know joy big victories. And the pain of cruel life losses. But no matter what happened to them, they were and remain invincible.

Once again reliving moments of world triumph, looking at the victorious performances of our girls in Rio, we get to know each of the participants in turn.

Natalya Ishchenko - she's not just five times Olympic champion, but also the first athlete in the history of world synchronized swimming to win Olympic gold after giving birth. “Given the specifics of our sport, this is basically impossible,” the athletes and coaches unanimously say. But Ishchenko proved that it is possible! One of the episodes of the film is dedicated to her personal history.

We shoot Svetlana Romashina during a sailing regatta in the Moscow region. Husband Nikolai is watching his wife from the shore. For Svetlana, the regatta is not just a hobby. The point is that it is sailing helped her in her time to win one of the most important victories in life - to find female happiness. Svetlana and Nikolay tell us a beautiful and touching story of their relationship.

Two-time Olympic champion Alexandra Patskevich is a beautiful blonde, the heroine of gossip columns. Before our eyes, she is filming for fashion magazines, developing an author's clothing line. But Alexandra's life is not only glamorous brilliance. In an interview, she recalls how she suffered a serious spinal injury in training three months before the London Olympics. In the Olympic program, all the most difficult acrobatic elements are tied to Sasha, so it was impossible to replace her with someone else in such a short time. The Olympic gold of all our eight depended on her courage.

Another two-time Olympic champion in our team is Alla Shishkina. On a brand new "champion" car, just received on Red Square, Alla and her mother drive all day south-east of Moscow. The ultimate goal of the trip is a tiny regional center on the Khoper River - Borisoglebsk. Once upon a time, little Allochka spent every summer here with her grandmother, and today the appearance of a world sports star causes a sensation here. Having learned that “the same Shishkina” would come to Borisoglebsk to relatives, the city rose to its ears in advance. How are super champions met in the provinces?

Duet coach Tatyana Danchenko even spends rare free hours by the water. Therefore, together with her, we went ... fishing, where we learned the curious details of her biography. Her own sports career in synchronized swimming ended very early, because at the age of 18 Tatyana became a mother. Was it easy for a 20-year-old girl to train peers? How were the legendary "golden" duets born: Davydova - Ermakova, Ishchenko - Romashina? And what is it like to work under the guidance of Tatyana Pokrovskaya, a former gymnast who has never taken up swimming (!), and often sets tasks that are basically impossible on the water?

Tatyana Pokrovskaya, with her tough innovative approach, has moved the entire world of synchronized swimming far ahead. Pokrovskaya is a "fighter" of the old Soviet style. In her training, even multiple Olympic champions do not dare to utter a word. The discipline in the team is tougher than the army. But who said that Pokrovskaya is wrong? After all, it gives a 100% result. We are revisiting the “golden” performance of our team in Rio de Janeiro again and again, and suddenly we find out that in the life of Tatiana Pokrovskaya, not only victorious, but also the most difficult experiences are connected with this city. Her eldest granddaughter Lisa grew up there and is buried there. In memory of her, the Prayer program was staged, which gives the audience goosebumps. The loss of a granddaughter, unfortunately, is far from the only drama in Pokrovskaya's life. “I paid very little attention to my husband. He dragged on himself the whole household, the whole house. Now that he is gone, I feel guilty about how much I didn’t give him.”

The final shots of the film were shot in the park near Tatyana Nikolaevna's house in early September. Immediately after the Olympics, her daughter and grandson flew to visit her. They flew in from Rio de Janeiro, where the only daughter of an outstanding coach has been living for more than 20 years. Pokrovskaya spent several days next to the lively Vanya, and frankly admits: “To command an ambitious team, to lead it to Olympic victories - there is nothing difficult about it! Compared to how hard it is to be a grandmother!”

The film features:

five-time Olympic champions Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina and their families;

two-time Olympic champions Alexandra Patskevich and Alla Shishkina;

honored coaches of Russia Tatyana Pokrovskaya and Tatyana Danchenko;

Olympic champions in synchronized swimming of previous years Olga Kuzhela and Maria Kiselyova;

Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief Cardiac Surgeon of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Gennady Khubulava.

In the Yaroslavl basin "Shinnik" demonstration performances young synchronized swimmers [photo]

Yesterday, December 26, Yaroslavl was visited by three-time Olympic champion, vice-president of the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation Olga Brusnikina. It was her arrival that made many Yaroslavl believe in the realization of an old dream: the organization of a synchronized swimming school in Yaroslavl.

Brusnikina brought her young pupils from the city of Chekhov. Synchronized swimmers' performances began in the morning at the Shinnik swimming pool. The girls presented to the audience of the program group exercises, duets, solos and non-traditional exercises with hoops.

The purpose of our visit is to show you what synchronized swimming is and how it happens, - Brusnikina greeted the audience. - My pupils have been engaged in synchronized swimming for five years and have already managed to achieve some success.

Although the performances were indicative, the girls behaved extremely collected. Yes, and their great mentor scolded the athletes for real: “I didn’t reach the sock ... I didn’t do the twine ... I didn’t smile!”

In the stands, admiring Yaroslavl schoolgirls and their parents, with bated breath, watched the skill of young athletes. Looking at Chekhov's guests, many of them were eager to get into the synchronized swimming section. There is only one problem - there is no such opportunity in our city, and there is a catastrophic lack of water for classes. The desire to help the residents of Yaroslavl was the reason for the visit of the eminent athlete.

- Olga, tell us about the purpose of your visit.

The Synchronized Swimming Federation of Russia received an offer from the Yaroslavl Swimming Federation to visit this city, show what synchronized swimming is, talk about it, and draw attention to this sport. We immediately responded to this invitation. I am vice-president of the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation, responsible for the development of the regions. Together with our team, Valentina Sergeyevna Nemogaeva, the State Synchronized Swimming Coach, arrived. And she stood at the origins of the creation of synchronized swimming in Russia and the USSR. It is very good that she was able to come and assess the possible prospects here.

- What prospects do you see?

Of course, the desire of the local Swimming Federation and, I hope, the desire of local authorities, is very great. But much more needs to be added to it. An important factor is the conditions in which children will train. Much depends on specialists who are ready to educate girls involved in synchronized swimming. There is no such specialist in Yaroslavl. And you need to attract such a person here, create the necessary conditions for him: both for work and for housing. Or send your coaches for an internship at schools and synchronized swimming clubs in Moscow and the Moscow region. Synchronized swimming is a rather young sport. But, nevertheless, the successes of Russian athletes in this form speak for themselves. For the last 12 years, our team has not lost to anyone on the world stage. We are absolute leaders in synchronized swimming. This sport requires a lot of attention. Indeed, for the performance of synchronized swimmers, not one lane in the pool is needed, but open water space, and this, accordingly, is a rental. In addition, costumes and musical equipment are needed. This is not such a simple sport, you need to invest in it not only your soul, but also your money.

What arguments can be given to mothers who do not know which section to send their daughter to in favor of synchronized swimming?

In my opinion, synchronized swimming for girls is best view sports. They get everything here: they are engaged in choreography, general physical training, swimming, there are plastic lessons. All this is very good for health. Water is generally useful for children: it is both hardening and alignment of posture. In addition, synchronized swimming is a minimum of injuries.

Now among athletes who have completed their sports careers, it is fashionable to go into politics. Why didn't you leave synchronized swimming?

Probably because I wanted to stay, I wanted to do something of my own, try my hand as a coach, organizer. Of course, coaches work with me, whom I trust in everything. In addition, I have a large amount of social workload. I am Vice-President of the Synchronized Swimming Federation of Russia, President of the Synchronized Swimming Federation of the Moscow Region. I am a member of the Executive Committee of the Olympic Committee, Chairman of the Commission of Athletes of the Olympic Committee. All this gives me the opportunity to communicate with people in the world of sports, acquire certain skills as an organizer, and somewhere as an official. I think everyone should mind their own business. I don't feel the need to go into serious politics. Everything needs to be learned. It is impossible to leave the pool, from the stadium, from the hall and immediately become a politician, an official, a leader. The synchronized swimming school that I created is a platform for me to grow, learn and move forward.

- Do other members of the synchronized swimming team create their own schools?

So far, this is an isolated case in my face.

- How did you manage to achieve such success?

I was born in Moscow, my mother came to the capital from the Tula region. I am extremely grateful to her for raising me. It was very difficult for her. She raised me alone. Now, as a mother myself, I can imagine the sacrifices she had to make. I had to forget about my personal life. She studied and worked, creating all the conditions for me to grow into a worthy citizen and benefit my country. She laid down her life for my good.

- Olga, what advice can you give to novice athletes?

First of all, you need to contact your parents first. These are the people who bring children to sports. Sometimes children do not understand where they are going, why and for what they need it. The main impetus should be parental will. Parents should understand that their children can grow up worthy and successful people. Children should be given this chance. Many believe that the child has enough workload at school. And while they are in school, they already have the opportunity to start a different life. And, perhaps, one of them will achieve great success. Children would like to wish patience and diligence. It is most important. Because any business requires full dedication. When there is a return, there is a result.

- And how many girls who came to the pool still achieve high results?

Imagine that in Moscow alone, about 1,500 children study. The national team consists of ten members. Draw your own conclusions. And this is only Moscow. Officially, we have 20 subjects of the Federation taking part in the competition. Of course, knowing this information, you can wave your hand, saying: “Oh, where are we going there” ... Thinking like this, you yourself are taking away from your children the chance to break through somewhere. Now the Russian national team has representatives from Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg. They once started in these regions. Only having achieved certain results, the coaches gave them to Moscow. There would be a desire, but there is always a chance.

- What emotions do you experience as a coach?

Different. Sometimes there is delight, sometimes you want to kill ( laughs). Of course I'm worried. When I was an athlete, I only worried before the start. When I went to the start, my work began, and the excitement faded into the background. I worry about the girls throughout the program, when I understand that now I can’t do anything for them.

- Are relationships important for girls performing in a duet in a group?

Certainly. They may not be close friends, but they must understand that they are doing the same thing and moving towards the same goal. Each of them can let the team down with their bad mood or unwillingness to work. A sense of responsibility is very important, it needs to be brought up from childhood.

- How are your relations with Maria Kiseleva developing now?

Fine. Just the other day, a project took place, which we prepare together every year. This is a show Olympic champions where our entire team played. It was a big celebration of synchronized swimming.

- What is your goal as a coach?

I, as a leader, dream that someday my athletes will become as great as their coach. The main success of the coach lies in the fact that he will be able to raise a pupil much higher in level than he is.

- Are they invited to work abroad?

I worked abroad. In Italy, in China. We are hired there. Of course, we can be useful, earn money. But I understand that this is not the case. I want to do something of my own. Let it not be right away. My school is already five years old, and my pupils are still growing. I'm ready to wait. I want it to be done by my hands. The conditions that were created for me are simply unique. When I, a Moscow athlete, began to work in the region, they looked at me askance. The conditions that have been created for me allow me to devote myself to work completely, not paying attention to difficulties.

- Why can't other countries beat Russia in synchronized swimming competitions?

Many factors influence this. First of all, we have a special approach to the preparation of the national team. Our team is at the training camp almost all the time, all the time they are together. Athletes work very hard. Sometimes, 8 hours in the water every day, more training in the gym. Our country is huge. She is a storehouse of not only athletes, but also coaches. We have wonderful coaches preparing the national team - Tatyana Pokrovskaya, Tatyana Danchenko, my coach is Elena Nikolaevna Polyanskaya. Of course, this is an administrative job. Those people who remain in the shadows do a great job. Last year I joined the technical committee of the European Synchronized Swimming Federation. This is a long-term work of a huge team in different directions. This year we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation. Victories are the fruit of 30 years of work.

The day ended with a round table, which was attended by state synchronized swimming coach Valentina Nemogaeva, Olga Brusnikina, as well as representatives of local authorities represented by the director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sergey Karpov, and the deputy of the regional Duma Ilya Osipov. According to the participants, unfortunately, there are no facilities for classes in Yaroslavl, but the first step towards creating infrastructure will be the creation of a department or club for synchronized swimming.

We can say that there is not enough water anyway. We almost lost Drattsev; left, but Fesikov returned, - complained Ilya Osipov. - Now they have nowhere to train. By the time the new pool is built, we should already have schools and trainers ready so that the water is not empty. You can start training in kindergarten pools. The club needs to be created. This will take 2-4 years. We will build a swimming pool together with the Federation of Synchronized Swimming of Russia. After all, this is the employment of children, and health, and prestige.

After the 2016 Olympic Games, which ended with another triumph for the Russian synchronized swimming team, a major update awaited the Russian team. The main stars - five-time Olympic champions Natalya Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina - announced a pause in their careers. As a result, the coaching staff during the World Cup had to go to bold experiments. So, for the first time since junior age, Svetlana Kolesnichenko performed in the competition of soloists and won gold. Alexandra Patskevich had to make her debut in duets, but she did not flinch either, winning in a pair with the same Kolesnichenko. Group competitions were next in line - by the way, Kolesnichenko and Patskevich were not included in the Russian team. However, Svetlana herself thanked the head coach Tatyana Pokrovskaya for such a decision, explaining that it would be “morally difficult” for her to perform in the group as well.

As a result, the composition of the Russian G8 appeared to be radically updated. Of the Rio Olympic champions, only Maria Shurochkina and Vlada Chigiryova remained in the roster. At 22, they found themselves in the role of veterans of the national team, and the whole burden of responsibility fell on their fragile shoulders.

The rest are even younger. Twin sisters Anastasia and Daria Bayandin will turn 21 only in November. 20 years old and Maria Golyadkina with Darina Valitova. Veronika Kalinina is only 18, and Polina Kamar is 17. Valitova, however, two years ago in Kazan managed to become the world champion in mixed doubles paired with Alexander Maltsev.

With the sharply rejuvenated composition of the Russian national team, it was necessary to reaffirm their own hegemony in synchronized swimming. However, when such a person as Tatyana Pokrovskaya is at the head of the team, there can be no doubt about the success of the case. Tatyana Nikolaevna has been working with the Russian national team since 1998 and during this time she has trained more than one golden team.

“Of course, it was in connection with the departure of Ishchenko and Romashina that there were certain concerns, but the professionalism of the coaches who train synchronized swimmers for the national team continues to bear fruit. I have already talked about the group, and after all, girls who recently left the junior team also entered its composition at the World Cup. During this year, Pokrovskaya did a great job so that they could complete the Olympic technical program. As a result, the Russian team continues to hold a very high bar, ”the former ward of Pokrovskaya, three-time Olympic champion Olga Brusnikina, told RT.

Gold in the heat

As a result, the performance in Budapest turned out to be difficult for the updated Russian team. In the capital of Hungary, on this day, thermometers showed above 30 ºC, and the competitions were held in outdoor pool. As luck would have it, the domestic team received the last, 12th, number and had to wait for all the rivals to perform.

But the girls were not embarrassed. Once in the pool, they did everything perfectly. The elements in their performance looked simply amazing. It seemed like they had been performing together for many years. Of course, this team is still far from the one that won Olympic gold in Rio de Janeiro, but before next games three more years. However, even now the Russian team has turned out to be inaccessible to competitors. The domestic eight scored 96.0109 points and was almost two points ahead of the second Chinese women (94.2165) - a whole gulf in synchronized swimming. It is curious that the representatives of the Celestial Empire chose a technical program with Russian folk motives. Bronze in a stubborn struggle with Ukraine was won by Japanese women (93.1590).

"There is a team change"

But Tatyana Pokrovskaya, after the end of the competition, finally agreed to call her wards a team.

“I was very worried about this group. Training is one thing, but I didn’t know how athletes would behave in competitions. At the preliminary stage, they seemed to be warming up, a little cautious. And they did well today. I am pleased. There is a team. Before the championship, I said: “There is no team, there is no team ...” And now I can say that the team was born. There is a change to the team that I called “animals” - when the girls came out - everyone was trembling, energy was in full swing from them, ”the All Sport agency quotes the coach as saying.

Pokrovskaya also said what she thinks about the Chinese women who have chosen the music to which the Russians once performed.

"For technical program Chinese women chose Russian folk motifs. And for the free program they took "Prayer"! It was our favorite Olympic program. The girls even asked not to put her with anyone else. Alas, this music is not only written for us. We ourselves found it on the Internet and cannot prevent others from using it. But still, it's embarrassing. After all, I processed it, specially accelerated it at the end ... And now it seems that the Chinese took it and simply added another 30 seconds to our version. Here is the music for our current programs - this is an exclusive. It was written by Denis Garnizov, who collaborates with the Todes ballet. A very promising young composer in particular in working with dance groups. His father, Alexei Garnizov, used to write for Todes, and now Denis continues his work. I’m already taking his third melody - he wrote two especially for us, and the third one, Dinosaurs, I found on the Internet and asked permission, ”added Pokrovskaya.

In turn, the Olympic champion Vlada Chigireva, who won the seventh gold of the world championships, admitted that she was still worried.

“Each performance is exciting for us, and today the sunny weather also made its own adjustments - it was very hot. But it was also hot from the support of our fans. We go to the start without confidence in our victory, the main thing for us is to fight with ourselves. Every time we worry that something might go wrong, but we worked to the maximum, so we got such marks, ”TASS quotes Chigiryova.
