Friends often ask me where to do yoga in Moscow, which yoga centers are the best, which teachers to go to.
I answer this question so often that I decided to write a separate post about yoga in Moscow. I would like to say that if you are lucky enough to live in the capital and you want to do yoga, then you should know: Moscow - a good city for yoga. Yoga will help you stay in good shape, enjoy the frantic rhythm of this city and not get tired of it. Moscow has good yoga clubs and excellent yoga teachers. There are many here who have a very scrupulous approach to the subject, constantly study, study sacred texts, anatomy, physiology, psychology, travel to India to improve their skills, attend seminars of domestic and foreign teachers, practice asanas, pranayama and meditation. Moscow teachers are known all over the world, so if you decide to improve your health with the help of hatha yoga, do not miss your chance.
What to look for when choosing a yoga center

The most important criterion. If you don’t want to waste your time or, God forbid, get injured, choose an experienced and qualified teacher. I am familiar with many cases where careless corrections by inexperienced yoga teachers led to injuries to students. If there is an opportunity to immediately learn from the best, why not take advantage of it? Pay attention to experience, qualifications, certificates. All this information is usually presented on the website of the yoga center, you can read it and see photos.
The choice of a yoga teacher should be approached very consciously, because you trust this person with your health. Read about how to choose a good teacher in my article.
Prices
This, of course, is not the most important criterion, but significant. Suddenly, you will trample and want to do 5 times a week? good when there is favorable prices for a subscription.
Close to home or work
This is not the most important criterion, but for some it can play a significant role. If you have a fairly busy schedule, it is better to somehow optimize your time and choose a yoga center closer, but not at the expense of quality, of course.
Space itself
Of course, the color of the walls and the height of the ceilings are not so important for a successful practice, but it is always nice to be in a cozy space. When choosing a yoga center, pay attention to such parameters that will be relevant for you personally. For example, I had to give up classes in a good yoga center because it was in the basement, and since my work was also in the basement, I wanted to find some kind of space with windows to practice. But for some people, it may not matter at all. In any case, try to find a comfortable space that you want to come back to again and again. There are a lot of cozy places among Moscow yoga centers.
So where to go for yoga in Moscow
Prana Yoga Center
Where: m. Barrikadnaya and Timiryazevskaya
Very large yoga center (only 12 rooms in 2 yoga clubs). It seems to be the biggest yoga center in Europe. But this is not the most important thing. A well-chosen team of teachers (the best of the best representatives different styles and directions) - choose any!
A large yoga center is an ideal choice for those who have not yet decided on the direction of yoga and the teacher and want to be able to be like different classes. Everything is here - from kundalini yoga to Indian dances and a drawing school!
In the center on Timiryazevskaya there are very spacious halls, long corridors, showers, cafes and a free sauna. "Prana" for me (and for many of my friends) is almost like a home.

A good teaching staff was gathered in their yoga center by its founders - Ilya Zhuravlev and Mikhail Baranov. There is hatha yoga of different levels of complexity, classes in ashtanga vinyasa yoga, Thai massage, yoga for pregnant women, extremely interesting seminars are held. For example, I attended a seminar on overtone singing there.

Ashtanga yoga center

The oldest Moscow yoga center. The center teaches world-class yoga practices: Denis Zaenchkovsky, bronze medalist of the World Yoga Sports Championship, and Sergey Kulygin, two-time world champion, bronze medalist of the European Yoga Sports Championship. Ashtanga Yoga Shala

If you are looking for where to practice ashtanga vinyasa yoga in Moscow and, in general, want to fully experience the impact of this yoga method, you should definitely visit yoga shala. The school officially represents the style of Ashtanga vinyasa yoga in Russia and was created, as they say, in the image and likeness of yoga shala in Mysore. Daily Led-classes (there is even a second series!) and Mysores with experienced and certified teachers will allow you to experience this method and practice it exactly as it was conceived by Pattabhi-Joys. The prices here are not the lowest, but believe me, it's worth it!

In the Yoga Station you will not find a set of various yoga schools and directions standard for many yoga centers. Teachers adhere to a different - their own - concept. The method is based on the detailed adjustment of asanas in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar, supplemented by the principles of building swastha yoga complexes by A.G. Mohana, a wide arsenal of dynamic practices of the D. Brahmachari tradition and relaxation practices of the Vivekananda Yoga Kendra Institute.
