From the history of the Olympics

Of course, we can talk about the development of the modern All-Russian Olympiad from the moment the history of Russia as a federal state began. However, the foundations of this event in the field of education were laid in the distant 19th century, when in 1886 members of the Astronomical Community of the Russian Empire initiated the holding of Olympiad competitions to solve mathematical problems for "learning youth".

When the Russian Empire was replaced by the Soviet Union on the world map, the school Olympiad movement not only did not stop, but also noticeably intensified - since the 30s of the last century, Olympiads began to be held for high school students in such disciplines as mathematics, physics and chemistry. Gradually, the Olympiads began to be called All-Union, but in the 60s, the Minister of Education M.A. Prokofiev signed a decree approving a whole list of Olympiad competitions between schoolchildren.

Over time, the number of subjects on which you could demonstrate your knowledge only increased. For example, computer science was included in the list back in 1989, since 1992 geography was included in the list, two years later - astronomy and ecology, three years later - literature, and in 2000 the first foreign language was included in the list - it became German. The last expansion of the number of subjects occurred in 2016, when schoolchildren began to compete in three more foreign languages(Spanish, Chinese and Italian).

Interesting fact: Today, specialists from the Department of General Education, which is part of the country's Ministry of Education, supervise Olympiads in 24 subjects.

Disciplines of the All-Russian Olympiad

In the 2018/2019 academic year, Russian students will have a chance to compete for victory in the Olympiad rounds, which are held in the following school disciplines:

the exact sciences are represented by such a discipline as computer science and computer technology, as well as one of the "oldest" subjects - mathematics;
disciplines of a natural nature are represented by an extremely wide list - you can take part in a geographical, biological, astronomical, physical, chemical and environmental competition;
the philological direction includes olympiad competitions for knowledge of German, English, Chinese, Spanish, French and Italian languages, as well as Russian language and literature;
students who are inclined towards the humanities can try their hand at the historical Olympiad, social science, competition in the field of law or economics;
in addition, the Olympiad subjects include art, technology and the basics of life safety, as well as a competition for real athletes - physical education.

Organization of the federal Olympiad

Victory in the All-Russian Olympiad involves going through a long and difficult path, because students will have to demonstrate their strongest sides during 4 stages:

school stage. This tour can be safely called the simplest, since it is organized by local governments responsible for education in the city's districts. In the first stage, guys representing classes from 5th to 11th compete. Pupils of the 4th grade take part in this tour only in two subjects - Russian language and mathematics. The desire of students should not be limited in any way - anyone can become a member of the school tour. However, you need to be prepared for the fact that the assignments will go beyond the regular program, and even represent topics studied in high school. The winners go on to the next round.
municipal stage. In this round, the participants are children representing grades 7 to 11. This stage is organized by the city department of education, whose specialists set the quotas of participants for each academic discipline, draw up lists of students (taking into account the number of points that each class received in the previous stage of the Olympiad). Regional stage. This level of the Olympiad is held for students who study according to programs from 9th to 11th grades. Participation is determined by the number of points scored in the municipal subject round. As in the previous stage, both winners of the municipal stage of the 2018/2019 academic year and the previous one can compete. In addition, the number of participants can be expanded to include students who study abroad in educational institutions subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The final stage carried out throughout the state. The composition of the final round of the Olympiad is formed directly by specialists representing the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Students who have become winners of the current and previous academic period can also compete in this round. If a situation arises that in some region of the country, none of the participants in the subject Olympiad managed to score the proper number of points, then the Ministry of Education may agree to delegate one student who scored at least 50% of all points for tasks of the regional round. An exception is also possible for students who are actually studying in the 5th-8th grade of the school, but wish to speak in the subject for the 9th grade. The winners and prize-winners of this prestigious tour are awarded diplomas that certify the right to enter any university in the country. It is necessary to meet only two conditions - to receive a school certificate and enter the specialty in the profile of the subject in which the victory was recorded. In addition, such gifted children receive a special award on behalf of the Russian government.

Quotas for participants

It is worth distinguishing between the concepts of winners and prize-winners of tours related to the regional and federal stages. The winner is automatically the student who scored the maximum points in his subject. The prize-winner must receive points established as passing points by the Ministry of Education. In addition, the number of winners has a well-defined quota:

on a regional tour, their number cannot exceed 25%;
in the final round they can be no more than 45%. At the same time, at this stage, the number of winners is also limited - no more than 8% of the entire composition of the tour participants.

When are the stages of the Olympiad held?

The Olympiad covers almost the entire academic year: it starts in September and ends in May. If we talk about individual stages, then in 2018/2019, as before, the following periods will be assigned to them:

the school tour runs from mid-September to the end of October.
the municipal tour is organized from the 20th of October to mid-December;
the regional stage runs from mid-January to the end of February;
final stage school olympiad will run from mid-March to mid-May.

mathematicians are often offered puzzles with a trick that need to be solved in non-standard ways;
non-competitive tasks are often prepared for participants in Russian language tours - for example, in the form of a reasoned dispute or even writing an anthem for the Olympiad;
schoolchildren competing in the Olympiad in Informatics should solve only practical tasks. Interestingly, during the final rounds, online broadcasts and teleconferences with famous Russian scientists are often held;
at the Chemistry Olympiad, schoolchildren will have to show not only theoretical knowledge, but also the ability to conduct experiments in all sections of this science;

Like any phenomenon, the Olympics have two sides. The school stage of the All-Russian Olympiad has already begun. All interested students in grades 5-11 can participate in it. We decided to tell you in more detail about each of the Olympiad steps and the conditions for climbing it, so that you know exactly what to prepare for.

I School stage

The school stage of the All-Russian Olympiad is the first stage that absolutely all interested students from grades 5 to 11 can try to climb, since the quota for the number of participants in this case is not set. If desired, the participant even has the right to complete tasks for a higher class than the one in which he is studying. It is possible to participate in the Olympiads in all 24 disciplines, as the dates do not overlap.

At this stage, on each of the days set for a particular subject, task options become available to schools. Their complexity, as a rule, allows all students who have perfectly mastered the school course to successfully cope with them.

II Municipal Stage

In the case of the municipal stage, the organizer of the Olympiad is the local government in the field of education. And here he already sets the limits for the number of participants, forms their lists and sets the number of points for each subject and class that needed to be received at the school stage in order to move to this one. There is also another limitation: only those who completed tasks at least at the level of grade 7 can take part in it - the class of actual training does not play a role.

Tasks at this level, of course, vary greatly in complexity and require knowledge that is not limited to school curriculum. But still, in this case, they can be mastered by a student who has successfully completed the school course and studied additional literature.

III Regional stage

The regional stage plays a very important role in the All-Russian Olympiad: it is designed to select the best among the winners of the municipal stage, who will be able to compete with each other in the final. But more on that later. First of all, it is worth noting that at this stage only students who completed tasks for grades 9-11 can participate. Unlike the previous levels, this one requires really serious preparation from schoolchildren. His tasks are not limited only to the framework of the school curriculum, even if it is in-depth, they go far beyond them. At the same time, their successful implementation requires not only a good academic base and general erudition, but also the ability to think critically and carefully analyze the material. Therefore, the sooner a student starts preparing for the All-Russian Olympiad, the more chances he will have to successfully pass this stage.

IV final stage

As the song says: Last Stand- He is the most difficult. In order to become a winner or prize-winner of the final stage of the All-Russian High School of Education, you will have to bypass the guys from all over Russia, who have proved their right to compete for victory at the regional level. Pupils of grades 9-11 can participate in it, but participation of schoolchildren of grades 5-8 is also allowed if at the previous stage they were in grade 9 and scored required amount points. If in some region not a single student scored the number of points established by the Ministry of Education, then the student who scored the highest number of points is sent. However, it must be at least 50% of the established.

Speaking about the complexity of tasks and the required level of preparation, one cannot help but notice the obvious - they, of course, increase even more. It is also extremely important to understand what techniques are used to solve certain problems. To do this, it is useful to solve the options of past years, to analyze them with already experienced participants. Olympiad field schools and Olympiad preparation courses can help with this, where teachers will understand the formats of tasks, know all the requirements for their implementation and pay attention only to Olympiad preparation. No one promises that this path will be easy, but for that it is the final stage, in order to win it, only those who put maximum effort and time to become the best could win.

The All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren is a mass annual event for working with gifted schoolchildren in the system Russian education. This system covers 24 subject Olympiads for students of state, municipal and non-state educational organizations that implement educational programs of basic general and secondary general education.

The Olympiad is held during the academic year from September to May on time and includes four stages: school, municipal, regional and final. The final stage is held in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, selected on the basis of applications.

The winners and prize-winners of the final stage receive a diploma that gives them the right to enter any university of the Russian Federation in the field of the Olympiad without exams and are awarded a special prize of the Government of the Russian Federation.

The organizer of the school stage is the local self-government body that manages education.

The school stage of the Olympiad is held for students of grades 5-11 in 24 general education subjects, as well as for grade 4 students in Russian language and mathematics.

Every student who wants to participate in this intellectual competition and is studying in one of the educational organizations of the municipality can take part in the school stage.

The parent (legal representative) of the student who has declared his participation in the Olympiad, at least 10 working days before the start of the school stage of the Olympiad, confirms in writing that he has read the Procedure and submits to the organizer of the school stage of the Olympiad consent to the publication of the Olympiad work of his minor child, including in the information and communication network "Internet" in the event that he becomes the winner or prize-winner of the stage of the Olympiad. When publishing the protocols of the jury and the works of the winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad on the Internet information and communication network, the following information about the student is indicated: surname and initials of the participant in the Olympiad, class; number of points; the subject of the Russian Federation.

The organizer of the school stage ensures the collection and storage of applications from parents ( legal representatives) students who have declared their participation in the Olympiad, about familiarization with the Procedure and consent to the publication of the Olympiad works of their minor children on the Internet.

Everyone who wishes to participate in the school stage of the Olympiad must be informed in advance by the organizer of the school stage about the venue and the procedure for participation in the school stage. Responsibility for providing students with the opportunity to participate in the school stage is borne by the heads of those educational organizations in which these students study.

If it is impossible to hold the school stage of the Olympiad in any educational organization, the organizer of the school stage is recommended to choose a site within the framework of the current organizational and technological model for holding the specified stage of the Olympiad in a constituent entity of the Russian Federation.

At the school stage of the Olympiad, the participant of the Olympiad has the right to perform tasks for a higher class in relation to the one in which he is studying.

The quota for participation in the school stage of the Olympiad is not set.

Students of grades 7-11 take part in the municipal stage of the Olympiad.

The organizer of the municipal stage of the Olympiad is the local self-government body that manages education.

The organizer sets the number of participants in the municipal stage of the Olympiad for each general education subject. He also forms the lists of participants in this stage of the Olympiad, setting the number of points for each general education subject and class required to participate in this stage of the Olympiad.

Individual participation in the municipal stage of the Olympiad:

The participants in this municipality in the current academic year of the school stage of the Olympiad, who completed tasks not lower than grade 7 and scored the number of points set by the organizer;

Winners and prize-winners of the municipal stage of the Olympiad of the previous academic year, continuing their education in organizations engaged in educational activities in educational programs basic general and secondary general education.

Students of grades 9-11 participate in the regional stage of the Olympiad:

Participants of the municipal stage of the Olympiad of the current academic year, who scored the required number of points, established by the organizer of the regional stage of the Olympiad in the subject and class;

Winners and prize-winners of the regional stage of the Olympiad of the previous academic year, continuing their education in organizations that carry out educational activities in educational programs of basic general and secondary general education;

Citizens of the Russian Federation, students of grades 9-11 of organizations that carry out educational activities in educational programs of basic general and secondary general education, located outside the territory of the Russian Federation, and foreign institutions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, which have specialized structural educational units in their structure.

To participate in the regional stage of the Olympiad, such students of the educational organization must be sent to the organizer of the regional stage of the Olympiad, i.e. to the state authority of the constituent entity of the Russian Federation, carrying out public administration in the field of education, a letter indicating information about the students who will participate in the regional stage of the Olympiad. The subject of the Russian Federation is chosen independently by the foreign office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Regional stage organizers

The number of participants in the final stage of the Olympiad is established by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science at the suggestion of the Central Organizing Committee of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren.

Individual participation in the final stage of the Olympiad:

Participants of the regional stage of the Olympiad of the current academic year, who scored the number of points required for participation in the final stage of the Olympiad, established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia;

Winners and prize-winners of the final stage of the Olympiad of the previous academic year, continuing their education in organizations that carry out educational activities in educational programs of basic general and secondary general education.

In the event that in any subject of the Russian Federation not a single participant in the regional stage of the Olympiad scored the number of points established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia for participation in the final stage of the Olympiad, by decision of the organizer of the regional stage of the Olympiad of this subject of the Russian Federation, one participant of the regional stage of the Olympiad of the current year, who scored the highest number of points (but not less than 50% of the number of points established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia).

Students of grades 5-8 of educational organizations who are participants in the regional stage of the Olympiad and who have scored the number of points necessary to participate in the final stage are allowed to participate in the final stage of the Olympiad if at the previous stages of the Olympiad they performed at least 9th grade.
