Some sources report his relationship with the famous Russian biathlete, two-time Olympic champion Evgeny Ustyugov. However, they are only namesakes and there are no family ties between them.

Sergey is the most youngest child in family. WITH early years loved sports. Started with boxing. Then he became interested in biathlon, trained at the biathlon sports school in the village of Mezhdurechensky. Since 2001, he has focused on cross-country skiing, Ivan Bragin became his first coach. Ustyugov quickly began to show very high results for his age and win at various competitions.

As Sergei Ustyugov admitted, he grew up as a bully, and if it weren’t for sports, then his fate could be completely different: “I just don’t communicate with some childhood friends. Someone was in prison. Someone is in prison. And I was able to rebuild. Sports rebuilt me. I studied very poorly. Very much. My mother told me: "Quiet with sports." Now I understand that if it were not for sports, I would have ended up like my childhood friends - in prison or worse. "

From an early age, he was distinguished by great diligence in training, determination and perseverance in achieving his goal. He himself said: "As a child, I had a very specific and conscious dream - to get into the national team of the country. In general, having achieved one goal, I set myself new ones."

At the same time, Sergei has a difficult character, due to excessive freedom-loving, he could stay out of sports: “The main negative in me is my character. And the main positive ... is also my character ... From my first training camp they wanted to kick me out "I wrote three explanatory notes. Violation of the regime, and all that. I didn't like that they put pressure on me," he recalled.

The first big success came to him in 2011 when Sergey Ustyugov won gold in the sprint at the junior world championship in cross-country skiing in Otepää (Estonia). On February 6, 2011, he made his debut at the World Cup and at the same time for the first time got into the top ten at one of the stages (in the relay).

In 2012, Sergey Ustyugov became a four-time winner of the junior world championship in Erzurum (Turkey). Then he won gold in the sprint, 10 km race, skiathlon and as part of the relay.

In 2013 at the world championship in ski activities sports among juniors and youth in Liberec (Czech Republic) Sergey Ustyugov won two gold medals in the category under 23 years old - in the 15 km freestyle race and in the 30 km skiathlon.

At the 2013 World Championships in Val di Fiemme, together with the team, he won the bronze medal in the relay, in individual race was 47th in the 15 km freestyle. He first got on the podium at the World Cup stages at the Davos stage on December 15, 2013, taking 3rd place in the freestyle sprint. The following month, he won a stage in the Czech Nove Mesto na Morave in the freestyle sprint.

In 2014 on youth championship in cross-country skiing in Val di Fiemme, he won gold in the individual sprint. On Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi in the final of the personal sprint, being one of the main contenders for victory, he took fifth place, falling in the final.

According to Ustyugov, skiing for him is a lifestyle, not a means of earning money: "I never thought that I came to skiing in order to purely earn money. I don't go to work".

In May 2014, it was announced that Sergei Ustyugov was moving from the remote Russian national team, led by Oleg Perevozchikov, to separate group Russian national team led by the Swiss-German duo of coaches Reto Burgermeister and Isabelle Knaute.

In January 2015, also together with Alexei Petukhov, he won the team sprint at the World Cup in Otepää. At the stage in Rybinsk, he took 2nd place in the freestyle sprint and 3rd place in the individual 15 km freestyle race.

In March 2016, he took second place in the Tour of Canada multi-day race, simultaneously hitting the podium in five races of the tour and losing only to Martin Sundby.

In October 2016, it became known about the conflict between Burgermeister-Knaute and several skiers - Sergey Ustyugov, Evgeny Belov and Stanislav Volzhentsev. President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation and Main coach The Russian national team allowed skiers to move from the Burgermeister-Knaute group to the group of another German specialist Markus Kramer, who at that time already trained the 2014 Olympic champion Alexander Legkov and a number of other strong skiers.

He performed superbly at all stages of the stage race: he won the first 5 stages and at the sixth stage (15 km CS, mass start) he took 2nd place, losing 2.2 seconds to Martin Sundby. Before the last seventh stage, Sergey had the first position and 1 min 12 sec advantage over the nearest of the pursuers, Norwegian Martin Sundby. Having confidently completed the last race uphill Alp de Cermis, Sergey Ustyugov kept the handicap and won the Tour. Thus, Ustyugov became the second Russian skier after Alexander Legkov to win the Tour de Ski. Sergey Ustyugov also set a record for the number of victories in a row at the stages of one tour - 5. Before that, the Norwegian Sundby won the most number of tour races (4).

On February 25, Ustyugov won gold in the 15+15 km skiathlon. A few kilometers before the finish line, Ustyugov and Sundby created a gap from the main group. On one of the last climbs, Sundby accelerated, but broke his stick. As a result, the Norwegian lagged behind Ustyugov by several tens of meters and could not compete with Sergei for gold at the finish line. Thus, Sergei Ustyugov won the world title for the first time in his career.

February 26 Sergey competed in the team sprint classic style together with two-time world champion 31-year-old Nikita Kryukov. At the last stage, Ustyugov fled from Russia. With 30 seconds to go, he was fourth behind Emil Iversen of Norway, Iivo Niskanen of Finland and 2017 World Champion Federico Pellegrino of Italy in the individual sprint. At the same time, the Norwegian and Finn were ahead, while the Russian and Italian skiers were somewhat behind. On the rollout to the stadium, the Finn drove up close to the Norwegian, and during the rebuilding to another Iversen track, the athletes collided. Both skiers fell, the Norwegian broke his stick, and Pellegrino and Ustyugov drove around the fallen rivals. At the finish line, Sergey undertook a powerful acceleration and confidently won gold, ahead of the Italian by 2.14 seconds, Niskanen finished third. Ustyugov won his second gold medal at the World Championships, and Kryukov became the first in the history of the Soviet and Russian sports three-time world champion.

Ustyugov missed the next race of the championship, 15 km with a separate start in the classic style. In the 4 × 10 km relay, Sergey ran the last stage. Russia was about 17 seconds behind Norway after 3 rounds, Ustyugov was able to close the gap to 4 seconds, but could not compete for the victory, having won his 2nd medal in relay races at the World Championships.

The last race of the championship was the 50 km freestyle marathon, which Ustyugov, according to his words, ran only the second time in his career. Approximately one kilometer before the finish line, the trio of Canadian Alex Harvey, Ustyugov and Sundby broke away from the main group. As a result of the final spurt, Harvey won the gold, Ustyugov became the second, and the Finn Matti Heikkinen won the bronze medal, Sundby was only the fifth.

According to the results of the entire tournament, Sergey Ustyugov repeated the record of the Norwegians Bjorn Delhi and Petter Nortug in the number of medals at one world championship - 5 medals (2 gold and 3 silver). Sergey also caught up in the number of world championship awards with Alexei Prokurorov (six medals each).

“There are moments in the race when you have to step over yourself. It’s like a car, it reaches the red cutoff, after which the engine explodes. And you also have such a cutoff. And you cross it, even knowing that it is deadly. I brought myself to such a state. It all goes automatically: you wind up and drive. And you get high from such a state"- said Sergei Ustyugov.

Sergey Ustyugov is a young sportsman. It is rightfully considered one of the most promising skiers of our time. Despite his age, he managed to win several significant awards.

early years

Sergei was born in April 1992 in the Khanty-Mansiysk Okrug. As a child, he was an active child and often caused problems for his parents. I was never particularly interested in sports, but already in early age went to the boxing section. Showed pretty good results but he didn't like swinging his fists at all. The guy decides to try himself in biathlon, and he liked it. He will be happy to attend training and become one of the best among his peers. After some time, he realizes that he would like to connect his life with skiing. The mother of the future champion was against it, because the training did not allow him to fully concentrate on his studies. Despite everything, Sergey Ustyugov continued to study and hoped to grow into a real professional.

At the age of eleven, he gets the opportunity to go directly to cross-country skiing. The coach who suggested this to him was sure that here the guy would be able to fully realize his potential and be able to quickly break into the district team. For some time, the young man pondered the proposal and, as a result, agreed. Initially, things didn't go well for him. Due to the complex nature of the athlete, he often clashed with the new mentor, and therefore did not show the expected results. After some time, he completely changes his attitude to business and begins to consistently perform at various children's and youth competitions. That's how Sergei Ustyugov started. Photos from his first competition today occupy an important place in the home collection of awards.

Career in "youth" and "youth"

After successful performances at the district championships, Sergey is included in the list of candidates for the Russian youth team. Very soon he was enrolled in the national team, and the athlete performed quite successfully at the junior world championship.

In the 2011-2012 season Sergei Ustyugov (skier), whose biography is full of many different episodes, goes to the World Cup in Turkey. He managed to demonstrate an amazing result and became the first in absolutely all starts in which he performed. In the same year he takes part in international tournament in Estonia. Here he again showed himself excellently, after which he was enrolled in the first team.

In 2012-2013 the skier had a rather difficult time, because he had to move from "boys" to "youth". There was a completely different level of athletes here, and he fully felt it at the very first competitions in Liberec. This tournament took place in 2013, and he completely failed. It is noteworthy that all this happened in the classic sprint, where he had no equal before. A few days later, the young man is fully rehabilitated and becomes the first in the "cutting" for fifteen kilometers and wins the skiathlon for thirty kilometers. Even then, they began to talk about the Russian as one of the most promising athletes in Europe.

adult career

A rather interesting person is Sergey Ustyugov (skier). His biography, although not so rich due to his age, nevertheless, there is something to read in it. A career at the highest level deserves special attention.

The debut at the World Cup took place in 2011. Even then he gets into the top ten. In the world championship in 2013, he won bronze in the team relay. Unfortunately, in the individual race he managed to become only forty-seventh.

At the stages of the World Cup, he first climbed the podium in December 2013 in Davos. Sergey Ustyugov became the third in the sprint. A few months later, he took first place in the Czech Republic.

In 2015, together with Petukhov, he won the gold of the World Cup in the city of Otepää. In Rybinsk, he became second with the team and third in the individual freestyle race. In 2016 he went to the Tour de Ski, where he eventually became the owner of an honorary bronze medal.

At the championships of Russia represents the sports society "Dynamo". The skier is trained by the Swiss specialist Reto Burgermeiser.

Performances at the Olympic Games

For the first time Sergey went to such a tournament in 2014. He was one of the favorites. Leading world experts agreed with this. Absolutely everyone was sure that the Russian would at least finish his performances with medals. Unfortunately, it was not possible to justify the hopes. The young man made it to the finals of the single sprint without any problems, where he became only fifth. To the credit of the athlete, he did not look for excuses and agreed that the rivals were really stronger.

Sergey Ustyugov: height, weight

To understand why a twenty-three-year-old skier shows such successful results, you should definitely familiarize yourself with his physical data. It weighs quite a bit - only eighty-one kilograms. For power athletes, this figure is far from the highest. It is thanks to this that he manages to develop high speed in sprint races. It is worth noting that Sergey Ustyugov is rather tall. His height is one hundred and eighty-four centimeters. Thanks to this growth, he has a good range of hands, which allows him to always be among the leaders.

Brief description of personality

The young man strives to always be the best in everything. It is thanks to this character trait that he became what he is today. In fact, he has absolutely all the qualities that will help him repeatedly win the world championships, continental championships, as well as the Olympic Games.

Here he is Sergey Ustyugov. An ordinary Russian guy who managed to prove to everyone that thanks to hard work you can reach any height.

Many biathlon fans are well aware of Evgeny Ustyugov, the famous Olympic champion. When they hear about Sergei, who shares the same last name and is a current cross-country skiing star, they think they are related. Is it so?

Sergei Ustyugov - brother of Evgeny Ustyugov?

This question is immediately asked by biathlon fans, especially given their small age difference. As it turned out in one of Sergey's early interviews, they have no family ties, and they are united only by a common Siberian origin and love for winter sports.

Evgeny Romanovich Ustyugov is a world-famous biathlete, born on June 4, 1985 in the city of Krasnoyarsk. From childhood, following the example of his father and mother, he was engaged in skiing. Eugene came to his main sport, biathlon, at the age of 12. His first coach was Viktor Ivanovich Ermakov.

Sergei Alexandrovich Ustyugov - famous Russian skier, was born on April 8, 1992 in the village of Mezhdurechensky, Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous region. Here, in his small homeland, he began skiing at the age of 9 under the guidance of Ivan Bragin.

Achievements of Evgeny Ustyugov

Yevgeny Ustyugov achieved the greatest success at the Olympic Games: in 2010 in Vancouver, for the first time, he won a gold medal in the 15 km mass start discipline. The peculiarity of this race is that only 30 of the best riders in the world take part in it. Thanks to his impeccable shooting, having hit all the targets, he left far behind such recognized masters ski run and rifles like Ole Einar Björndalen, Michael Greis and Emil Svendsen. Here, in Vancouver, but already as part of the relay four, he got his second, this time bronze, medal.

In the future, Evgeny Ustyugov confirmed the non-randomness of the victories: in the 2010 season, he was the best in the sprint race in Oberhof, helped the Russian team win the relay race in Ruhpolding. Over the next 4 years, Eugene often took a place on the podium in World Cup races.

Evgeny Ustyugov won the next gold of the Olympic Games in the team race in 2014 in Sochi. This season was the last in his professional career. After the end of the Race of Champions, surrounded by his many fans and biathlon stars, the Olympian announced his retirement from the sport.

The famous Mansi

Sergei Ustyugov is unique in everything. He is a representative of a small people living on the territory of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, the number of which is less than 20 thousand people.

He began to show excellent results in cross-country skiing from his youth - he has 8 gold medals in the junior world championships. Moving to the adult category, he continued his brilliant performance.

For many years recognized leaders in ski competitions are Norwegians. This is not surprising, since the entire population of Norway is fond of winter sports. This country was glorified on the world arenas by such famous athletes as Bjorn Deli, Petter Nortug, Martin Sundby. Sergey Ustyugov, despite his young age, has already managed to repeat the records of the first two skiers and repeatedly defeated the third.

On account of the "flying" Mansi 9 victories at the World Cup, 2 medals of the highest standard at the 2017 World Ski Championship, held in Finnish Lahti. In January 2017, he became the second winner of the prestigious Tour de Ski in the history of Russian sports. At this race, he showed his undeniable advantage over Martin Sundby, "bringing" more than 1 minute at the finish line. Among the achievements of Sergei Ustyugov, it can be noted that it is equally easy for him to both short distances and marathons.

namesakes in Sochi

Sergei Ustyugov and Evgeny Ustyugov went their own ways to fame, which is not surprising, because they represented different types sports. But there was one common event in their career - participation in the Olympic Games in Sochi. Evgeny Ustyugov, a biathlete, again conquered the sports Olympus in that memorable year. For Sergei, such competitions were the first in his career. Unfortunately, the success of the namesake Evgeny was prevented by an unfortunate fall in the finals of the sprint. As a result, Sergei became only the fifth.

In 2014 Evgeny Ustyugov left big sport. His young and promising namesake, on the contrary, continues his triumphant march in ski competitions. It remains to be hoped that in a few years Sergey Ustyugov will again write this glorious name in the history of the Winter Olympics.
