In Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, competitions in motorcycle racing on ice have been completed. On the first day, athletes from five regions competed for the Mayor's Cup, and on the second day they fought for the prizes of the governor and the Russian armed forces (tournament dedicated to February 23). Outside the main competition, Sakhalin motocrossers performed - island lovers technical types sport on their own bikes with specially studded wheels drove several laps around the stadium.
The battle for military and gubernatorial trophies (as well as cash prizes of 50, 30 and 20 thousand rubles) turned out to be spectacular, tense and fierce: the athletes allowed themselves dangerous maneuvers, bold overtaking. Several times the races were stopped due to riders flying out of the saddle. The weather also contributed to the atmosphere of "overcoming everything in the world" - a blizzard timidly approached the south of the island throughout the race (but did not finally approach). The squally wind and fine snow thoroughly spoiled the nerves of both the athletes and the spectators. The latter, by the way, showed just iron restraint - even after three hours of races, there were alive and frost-free people in the stands, able to move, applaud and even scream.
For the first time Sakhalin meets speedway on ice. This is the sport of brave people, the sport of courageous people. Today, repeated world champion Sergei Kazakov, master of sports Grigory Laguta, European Championship medalist Roman Akimenko take part in the competition. And, of course, we are rooting for the guys who stand for our region, - Oleg Kozhemyako, the governor of the region, demonstrates knowledge of the subject. - I think that every time our speedway team will grow more and more. We already have a base - our guys are engaged in motocross. It is necessary to run them in at the Russian level, at competitions under the auspices of DOSAAF. Today everyone was satisfied with the competition. Need even more sports holidays to be an example for the youth. This is the first trial balloon, but since it went well, we need to develop it. It would be possible to hold stages of official competitions with us. We have proven that we can prepare for anything in a short time.
However, it was not without incidents. Already in the first race, the organizers were let down by equipment - the starting car several times refused to let the athletes go to the distance. The cunning mechanism continued to "strangle" the athletes with enviable regularity throughout the competition day.
18 sportsmen (16 main and two spares) defended their right to trophies on the ice track today. The favorite of the race was determined literally from the first races - Eduard Krysov simply did not give his rivals the slightest chance. pupil sports school CSKA won all their starts and never made a serious mistake.
Today I was a little more lucky than my opponents. All the guys tried to go to the fullest. There were more falls today than yesterday. But these are the features of our sport. Fight, you know? There is no getting away from this, - the winner of the first prize comments.
It is noteworthy that on the second day of the race, the commentators of the match especially stressed that the athlete was playing for the Sakhalin Region. Despite this, the governor's cup, apparently, will not remain on the island - Muscovite Eduard does not intend to stay with us, other competitions all over the country are ahead of him.
Ilya Panteleev from Khabarovsk became the silver medalist of the competition not without difficulty - only a victory in the final, twentieth, race allowed him to establish himself on the podium. Even more interesting with bronze - here the athletes fought to the last, only an additional race allowed to determine the owner of the junior cup. In it, an athlete from the Amur Region Roman Akimenko won a victory over Pavel Shevchenko - for the Amur resident, bronze was already the second in Sakhalin.
But the representatives of the island region were not lucky at the Governor's Cup. Yesterday's silver medalist Gleb Shevchenko failed to complete one of the races - due to problems with the motorcycle, the athlete was forced to withdraw from the race. This, coupled with an uncertain start (Gleb was only third in the first run), did not allow him to qualify for the tournament medals. The second "islander" Sergei Logachev in the 16th race collided with an opponent and was disqualified by the referee's decision. So, according to the results of the competition, both Sakhalin residents earned 10 points each and placed 5th and 6th.
The intensity of the fight grew, the guys got used to the ice, the adrenaline began to play, the fight became tougher - everything went well. The weather was not very good today for the spectators and the starting machine brought me today, there was confusion in two starts. In a good way, after this it was necessary to stop. But we decided not to do this - after all, the race was more educational than sports, - shares his impressions main judge competition Andrey Savin. - But all this is "growing pains". Many regions are not capable of such results a short time. But Sakhalin coped - they expected, frankly, much worse.
Speedway competition on ice sports class motorcycles (500 cubic centimeters) this year in the Sakhalin region were held for the first time. However, according to the organizers of the tournament, they will definitely not be the last - the development of technical sports is now given the green light.
