Tournament grid roland garos 2918 men. Serena Williams: I love playing Sharapova

The biggest clay tournament is about to start. Like last year, the main intrigue will be whether Rafael Nadal takes the title or not. This year the Spaniard is unlikely to be more difficult than in the past. Yes, the Spaniard actually lost twice on clay this season (to Tim and Zverev (the German was stronger and should have won). But both Tim and Zverev are in one quarter of the grid, so Nadal will meet only one of them, and then if the Austrian or the German will reach the final, who else can stop Rafael on the way to the title?

If Denis Shapovalov makes it to the 1/8 finals, then the Canadian is potentially one of those who can strain Nadal. Denis showed excellent tennis at Masters tournaments, he is going to big tournaments. In Rome, Shapovalov's strength was only enough for a set against Nadal, but there Denis was already “squeezed out”, now, if he comes up fresher, then the Canadian will have more chances.

Next, Anderson, Kohlschreiber, Coric or Schwartzman can go to Nadal (although in fact all four may not reach ¼). But none of them will be able to compete with Nadal, even if they come out.

Further, Cilic, Edmund, maybe Fognini and Berdych will qualify for the semi-finals. In any case, everything is more than passable for Nadal. So only a sudden injury or illness separates Nadal from the final.

Whoever Nadal faces in the final, he will be the clear favourite. Sasha Zverev, Dominic Thiem, Novak Djokovic, Kei Nishikori. All of them can only locally strain the Spaniard. Yes, and the grid for any of them is more complicated than that of Rafael, so Nadal will also be ahead in physics. In general, we decided on the main favorite.

Half of Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros 2018

The first half, especially the first quarter (which is where Nadal is), looks very weak. Juice is out of shape, the American has very weak physics, Gasquet somehow wilted after Monte Carlo, Schwartzman staggers in form (although the Argentinean is very difficult, he could hide and save up strength specifically for the RG). Kohlschreiber is still a bright spot. good tennis Philip has been demonstrating all spring, but his grid is already very complicated. Lopez is not bad, but the Spaniard does not pull in physics, a couple of rounds and he can be “carried away”. Anderson is not clear how he feels after the injury. Cilic is not bad yet, he uncovered his serve and his forehand. Marin is one of three tennis players who has played in the finals of the TBS twice for Last year, so we also rely on him. Well, Edmund and Berdych. In general, in terms of the names and uniforms of tennis players, this half is somewhat weaker than the bottom.

Half of Alexander Zverev at Roland Garros 2018

At the bottom is David Goffin, who played pretty well at the Masters and in Barcelona. Carreno Busta, the Spaniard, although he does not show the best tennis, plays cleanly and confidently beats weaker opponents. Novak Djokovic, in fact, if Grigor Dimitrov passes, he will be the main contender for the semi-finals. The Serbian is gaining momentum, he knows how to play five-set matches and will accelerate his form during the tournament. Dominic Thiema should go to 1/8 for good. But it can be difficult for an Austrian. He has Nishikori in the net, and Tsitsipas in the second round is not a gift. Moreover, the Austrian decently staggers. Tim devastatingly lost to Nadal in Monte Carlo, in Barcelona he unexpectedly lost to Tsitsipas, and limply surrendered the Madrid final to Zverev. In general, Tim is questionable. Well, Zverev, as the main antagonist of Nadal. It will be interesting to follow the German. But it will be difficult for him. Still the main questions for the forehand. This hit is bad. Zverev is forced to bend his arm, which creates an additional load on the muscles. And if in a two-set duel the hand does not get tired quickly, then in a five-set duel, everything changes somewhat. We also note that already in the second round Zverev will have a very difficult opponent - Lajovic. If the Serbian does not win the tournament in Lyon, he will be an angry and dangerous opponent.

Expected quarter-finals at Roland Garros 2018:

Nadal - Kolschreiber (German here, just because someone had to write)

Cilic - Berdych

Goffin - Djokovic

Nishikori/Tim - Zverev

If we talk about the final, I would like to see the match between Zverev and Nadal. Alexander needs to take revenge for the insulting defeat in Rome, and the German is the only one who, in fact, can resist Nadal today.

Roland Garros 2019 is the 118th edition of one of the four Grand Slam tournaments. The tennis championship will be held in France, in late May - early June 2019. The first rackets of the world will take part in it: Rafael Nadal, Gabriela Muguruza, Novak Djokovic, Sirena Williams. But the main attention of domestic tennis fans will be drawn to the representatives of Russia. The last edition of the French Open was not very successful for Russian tennis players. Maybe they will have better luck in 2019?!

date May – June 2019
Place France, Paris, SC Roland Garros

Roland Garros 2019 Tournament Schedule

The competition will be held from the end of May to the beginning of June 2019. For singles tennis players, it will consist of next steps:

  • 2nd circle;
  • 3rd circle;
  • 4th circle;

Where will the tournament take place

The tennis competition will be held in France. The performances of the athletes will be hosted by the Roland Garros sports complex.

The tennis arena consists of 24 courts. But the main events will take place on three of them.

Center court. Already by the name it is clear that this is the main court of Roland Garros. It will host the most important tennis matches. Including the final of Roland Garros 2019.

Suzanne Lengren. Second in importance playground arenas. It can accommodate 10,000 spectators.

"Court No. 1". The most modest in terms of capacity court of the sports complex. No more than 3,000 tennis fans can visit it at a time.

Roland Garros 2019 results

A new page in the history of the sports championship will be opened very soon. The master of tennis with the prefix "super" claims for trophies and solid cash prizes. So who will fortune smile on? This question will be easier to answer if we recall the results of the last edition.

On open championship France of the 2019 model found a place for unexpected victories, resounding victories and new discoveries.

Men. The fight among tennis players turned out to be hot. The trophy in the final stage was claimed by such masters as Marin Cilic, Juan Martin Del Potro and Novak Djokovic. But the luckiest and strongest of all was Rafael Nadal. The Spanish tennis star confidently outplayed the Austrian Dominic Thiem. For "Rafa" it was another trophy, and for Tim - the first participation in the final of the Grand Slam tournament, which can also be considered a great achievement. Maybe, best man at Roland Garros 2019 there will be a young Austrian star!

Women. But in solitary women's category there was a sensation. The title was won by Romanian Simona Halep. The tennis player consistently beat two stars Angelique Kerber and Garbine Muguruza. In the final match, she was opposed by American Sloane Stevens. But the Romanian was stronger.

Women's singles once constantly pleased Russians with triumphs. Unfortunately the era big victories long gone. Our only star capable of great accomplishments is Maria Sharapova. The Russian woman reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros 2018. This is a good result, given the long suspension. Let's hope that Maria will show her best tennis at Roland Garros 2019 among women!

Mixed. In this unusual category, the Croatian-Chinese duo Ivan Dodig/Zhan Yongzhan excelled. In the final, he outplayed the Japanese pair Eri Huzumi/Makoto Nanomiya.

Daria Kasatkina, having beaten the ex-first racket of the planet Caroline Wozniacki in Paris, said she would not watch the match between Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams. The reason for the first racket of Russia turned out to be quite valid, but it soon became clear that no one would watch this highlight of the women's Roland Garros: the 36-year-old American, citing a recurrence of an injury, refused to go to court. In the quarterfinals of the Paris tournament were just two Russians. An intriguing clarification: according to the grid, Masha and Dasha can only meet in the final!

Sharapova - breadth of interests

It is not quite decent to talk publicly about the age of the ladies, but Sharapova is exactly 10 years older than Kasatkina. Our tennis prims are generally not very similar to each other, although you can find something in common, except for the love of tennis, of course.

Masha, the ex-first racket of the world, who won, albeit in different years, all Grand Slam tournaments, is also a successful business woman, a trendsetter, her romantic hobbies are enjoyed by the whole world, not only fans of this sport. But also fans of, say, basketball, because one of Sharapova's boyfriends was the Los Angeles Lakers player Sasha Vujacic.

Her romance with Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5, was followed with excitement by music lovers and rock connoisseurs. People interested Russian politics, trying to figure out personal life stars when rumors arose about her relationship with Senator Anton Belyakov, the one to whom Andrei Arshavin addressed the catchphrase: "Your expectations are your problems." However, the fair Russian adultery categorically denied and even promised to sue Sharapova, but ... so he did not go to court. Masha has been the face of many fashion companies, she is the owner of the sweet Sugarpova brand.

Only in prize money on the court she earned under $40 million, and Dasha, having defeated Wozniacki, went to look for a hotel for herself, which is why she did not plan to watch the match of the legendary compatriot with Williams Jr. Kasatkina actually allowed herself to rent a house in Paris, but since an advance payment was required, she risked making it only until the 1/8 finals. The 21-year-old tennis player has so far earned "only" $3.7 million in prize money. How is it without reasonable savings?

Beauty's heart is prone to bearded men

The first racket of Russia against the background of Sharapova is modesty itself. In all her interviews, Dasha first of all thanks her coaches, although she has already managed to change three mentors. Unlike Sharapova, who screams on the court with a loudness that has become proverbial and anecdotal, Kasatkina plays with concentration and almost silently. Another thing that can argue with the judge. In Paris, during a match with the Greek Maria Sakari, the referee warned the Russian woman for "coaching tips." "Man, he didn't say anything!" Dasha screamed sharply.

Kasatkina, originally from Tolyatti, having become a tennis star, moved to live in Slovakia, not in Monte Carlo, like many of her colleagues.

Nothing is known about her novels. Dasha herself is extremely clear on this score, arguing that her heart is still absolutely free. It's no secret that the pink theme is always relevant in women's tennis, but this has nothing to do with Kasatkina. The young maximalist simply has not yet found her prince. The requirements are high. Her chosen one must certainly have a sense of humor. Dasha argues this with her inherent clarity in the wording: “What, to live with a dull piece of shit, or what ?!” You can't argue here. But give Dasha a reliable man, and always a bearded one. You won't find it right away.

For a tennis player, she is surprisingly miniature and graceful, so I am sure that as soon as she achieves serious success in tennis, she will surely become the object of close attention of fashion designers and receive multimillion-dollar advertising contracts. Dasha really likes Barcelona - both the city and football team for which she is temperamentally ill. She is not limited to this and plays football herself - her favorite hobby.

Kasatkina really likes Rafael Nadal, while she only likes his tennis. But if Rafa grows a beard and makes a couple of jokes, the first racket of Russia is gone!

Direct speech

Serena Williams: I love playing Sharapova

Unfortunately, I have difficulty with pectoral muscles. I can't submit. Physically. Therefore, it would be difficult to play. It's a very difficult situation because I love playing against Maria. Her playing is perfect for me. Before coming to the tournament, I had no problems. I don't understand what exactly happened. It's too painful for me. I'm going to do an MRI. I'll talk to the doctors. Then I'll decide what to do with Wimbledon. I am more than upset. I sacrificed for this moment the time I could spend with my daughter and family.

Maria Sharapova: I hope Serena will return soon

I was determined to play against Serena, and I am very upset that she had to withdraw. I wish her a speedy recovery. Hope she gets back on tour soon.

Daria Kasatkina: I played simply - and it worked

The first entry into the quarterfinals of the Slam, of course, means a lot to me ... But I already forgot about it, because I have to play next match(with American Sloane Stevens. - "Sports Day by Day"). Did I feel confident playing against Carolina? No, not at all. Due to the very long wait for the start of the match, due to the change of court, I had no idea what to expect. In the end, I tried to play in the simplest way. It worked.

Number

2 The Russians reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros. Maria Sharapova and Daria Kasatkina are in different parts of the grid, so they can only meet in decisive match. Paris has already seen the Russian final twice. In 2004, Anastasia Myskina easily dealt with Elena Dementieva (6:1, 6:2), and five years later Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated Dinara Safina (6:4, 6:2).

"Roland Garros" in Paris is rapidly coming to an end. Over the past three days, all the quarterfinals have been played in singles at the actual clay world championship.

It's interesting to see how the tournament starts with a huge number of participants, but the organizers manage to organize several hundred players so that everything goes according to plan. But, when the tournament is already close to completion, it is increasingly possible to observe how the deadlines begin to shift. It would seem that there are much fewer players and it should be easier to organize them. However, the reason for this "disorganization" is simple - the fewer players in the grid, the more games are shifted to the more central courts, and, in the end, starting from the 1/8 finals, the opponents play mainly only on the courts of Philippe Chatrier and Suzanne Lenglen. Thus, the games go on with a large crowd of spectators, and those, in turn, have the opportunity to focus on the most important matches.

After all the events of the 1/8 finals, some of which shocked the tennis world, the quarterfinal matches were held without any special excesses.

In the women's bracket, something happened that should have happened - like rock crystal, with a universal ringing, the hopes of Russian fans and functionaries for a triumphant end to the tournament were shattered. Many hotheads have already imagined that women's final in Paris it can be purely Russian - after all, Maria Sharapova and Daria Kasatkina entered the quarterfinal stage from different edges of the grid. Reality turned out to be not even a tub, but a huge tank cold water poured out on the heads of unbridled optimists.

On Tuesday, Kasatkina met with Sloans Stevens, seeded tenth in Paris. Dasha, having sent home the second racket of the world Caroline Wozniacki in the previous round, and captivating the audience with her game, it seems that she was simply frightened of her agility - not only did she reach the 1/8 finals for the first time, she also reached the quarterfinals. And her rival, by the way, won the US Open last year.

The game of the Russians just did not work out. There was a moment in the first set at 2-4 when she made a reverse break, and she just had to take her serve. Dasha was close to it, winning 30:0, 40:15, but a couple of lost balls and the subsequent long rally for "over-under" led to the fact that the American again took someone else's serve, won her own, and the first set went to the American - 6:3. And in the second set there was simply no fight - Daria left all her strength in the previous stages of Roland Garros. However, young Russian tennis player for this tournament, you can put a big five with a huge fat plus - few people, including Kasatkina herself, could have imagined that the tennis player would go so far.

As for Maria Sharapova, she took to the court against Garbine Muguruza (pictured) after the failed meeting with Serena Williams. the site covered this topic in detail in its material, and it is quite possible that in a few days Maria simply burned out. However, Muguruza also played only two games with Tsurenko, after which she refused to play further. A more likely version is that the match with Muguruza had another recession, with which Sharapova simply gets sick after her return to the court - in every match, Maria has a mandatory failure in the game for some time. But she miraculously passed her previous match against Karolina Pliskova without any losses, literally sweeping her opponent off the court. Apparently, the expected next decline came in the match with Muguruza.

However, the likelihood that Maria would beat the Spanish athlete was, objectively, small. Muguruza is very confident now in her abilities, plays the same power tennis and screams on the court as loudly as Sharapova. To beat her, you need to have something that will be performed better. So far, watching (or listening to) games between Sharapova and Muguruza can only save money for those who enjoy late-night phone entertainment with a group flavor.

Despite the fact that the probability of Sharapova's victory was generally low, her defeat with a big score was very unexpected - Maria took only three games - 2:6, 1:6.

Thus, the performance Russian tennis players and tennis players at Roland Garros is over. In general, it can be considered successful, although some aftertaste of dissatisfaction remains.

In another quarterfinal match, the German Angelique Kerber managed to successfully impose the fight on the first racket of the world on the Romanian Simone Halep 7:6 (7:2) only in the first set, but all the forces went to the first set - 3:6, 2:6 in the following sets.

And, finally, Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan tried to compete with the American Madison Keys, but for her the threshold of the 1/4 finals turned out to be insurmountable - 6:7 (5:7), 4:6. Putintseva, who is the 98th racket of the world, for this “Roland Garros” you can safely put a score of “ten” on a five-point scale.

Thus, in the semi-finals, the audience is waiting for an extremely interesting match between Simona Halep and Garbine Muguruza, in which any athlete can win. The other semi-final will be American - Madison Keys will face Sloane Stevens.

In the men's grid, by and large, no surprises happened - even taking into account the fact that the second seeded Alexander Zverev lost to the Austrian Dominic Thiem (7). Once upon a time, the three most difficult five-set matches played should have affected even the young animal organism. There were practically no games - three sets played, in which Zverev took only 7 games: 6:4, 6:2, 6:1 in favor of Tim, and in the semifinals he will meet with the Italian Marco Cecchinato, who, in turn, outplayed an outstanding player of our time, Serb Novak Djokovic, in four sets. The result may seem sensational only in appearance - Djokovic is still gaining his former form, now he is seeded in only 20th place at Roland Garros, and his defeat could theoretically be foreseen. However, this does not detract from the merits of Cecchinato, who had a simply outstanding game.
