Enumeration and levels of school Olympiads. What are the olympiads rsosh? 1st level of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren

There are many ways to develop the brain. One of them, of course, is participation in various Olympiads. Today we would like to talk about the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren and the listed Olympiads, which combine opportunities for development, benefits when entering a university, and other bonuses.

Among the listed types of Olympiads, the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren is the most difficult. Technically, every student participates in it, the entire Olympiad is divided into four stages: school, municipal, regional and all-Russian.

In order to become a winner or prize-winner of the All-Russian stage, you will have to try very hard: as a rule, you cannot do without several years of hard preparation and education in a good physical school. However, in order to win regional stage, most often it is enough just to be good at a strong physics and mathematics school.

The difficulty of obtaining a diploma of a prize-winner or a winner at a regional stage varies from region to region.

The most interesting thing is the benefits provided by the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren (or Vseross for short). In addition to being the most difficult Olympiad, Vseross also provides the most bonuses.

  • The diploma of the winner or winner of the municipal (regional) stage, if a person continues to study at school, next year automatically allows you to participate in the municipal (regional) stage without taking part in the previous ones. Nevertheless, as a rule, even a diploma of a prize-winner or winner of a regional stage does not give any benefits when entering a university. However, some universities add several bonus points for such diplomas.
  • The diploma of the winner or winner of the All-Russian stage gives its owner the opportunity to enter without entrance examinations (abbreviated BVI) in the direction of the Olympiad profile. Upon admission to a specialty that does not correspond to the profile of the Olympiad, the applicant is provided with a benefit in the form of 100 points for the Unified State Examination in the subject of the Olympiad.

Receipt of a diploma of a prize-winner or a winner does not mean automatic access to next stage. So, for example, in Moscow it is much easier to become a winner or prize-winner at the regional stage than to go to all-Russian stage, however, the reverse situation may also occur.

Benefits for the winners or prize-winners of this Olympiad remain for four years.

In other words, by becoming the winner of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in the eighth grade, you automatically secure admission to a university without any tests.

List Olympiads

However, the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren is practically the lot of the elite, so it makes sense to focus on the second type of Olympiad. Listed Olympiads are Olympiads from various universities that have several advantages over the already mentioned All-Russian Olympiad.

First, there are more of them. When applying for the Unified State Examination or the All-Russian Olympiad to a university, you have only one attempt, while with the list Olympiads in the 2016/2017 academic year, you have 88 attempts at once.

Secondly, list Olympiads are much simpler. For example, in mathematics there are Olympiads OMMO or Fiztekh, for which, having the level of a good physics and mathematics school, you can prepare in a couple of weeks for a winner's diploma, simply by thoroughly studying the tasks of past years. However, there are also difficult Olympiads like the Moscow Olympiad for schoolchildren, for which you need to prepare no less thoroughly than for the All-Russian Olympiad.

Important points are the level of the Olympiad and the degree of the diploma.

All Olympiads are divided into three levels. The same is the case with diploma degrees: I level (winner) and II/III (winner). However, at some Olympiads (for example, at St. Petersburg State University), only two degrees of diplomas are left.

If you have become a prize-winner or winner of the list Olympiad, and you have benefits for admission, you have the right to use the "maximum USE score" benefit in five universities in three areas - that is, 15 times.

However, you can use the BVI (privilege "without entrance examinations") only in one university and in one direction, and immediately giving the original certificate. Interestingly, if you have diplomas in several subjects at once, then you can be credited with the maximum score in the Unified State Examination in all areas in which you won prizes at the Olympiads.

The key difference between the list Olympiads and the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren is that the benefit for the list Olympiad is valid for only a year against four years for Vseross. In addition, the diploma of the list Olympiad must be confirmed by the result of the Unified State Examination. As a rule, this means that you need to score at least 65-75 points, although some universities raise the bar to 80 points.

Benefits that are given for certain levels of Olympiads and degrees of diplomas are assigned by the university itself.

Such lists must be published before June 1, although you can freely rely on the lists of previous years, since they change quite rarely. An example is the list of HSE benefits for 2015 Olympiads.

The last critical clarification is that if you received a diploma in Russian or in mathematics, which gives you BVI, then you do not need to take the third subject.

The most correct way to the best universities is through the Olympiads. It makes no sense for a developed and interested student to be engaged in only one preparation for the Unified State Examination - one should also prepare for Olympiads in mathematics and physics and actively participate in them.

Applicants from leading universities (MIPT, HSE, Moscow State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, MEPhI) must take part in:

  • in the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in mathematics and physics (at least in the school and municipal stages, it is highly desirable to go to the regional stage, and very well - to the final one);
  • in the RSOS Olympiads (also called list ones), which are included in the annual List of the RSOS (Russian Council of School Olympiads).

Having a diploma of the list Olympiad (not to mention the All-Russian), you will provide yourself with significant benefits when entering a university and get a serious competitive advantage in front of other students.

The side menu on the right includes a list of the main list Olympiads, final stages which take place in Moscow. The following also shows the levels of the Olympiads and links to their official websites.

Along with the information presented on this page, you can also read my speech at the Summer School for Mathematics Teachers (VMK MSU, 25.08.17), dedicated to the Olympiads.

All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren

All-Russian is held in four stages: school, municipal, regional and final (final). At each stage, winners and prize-winners are determined (by the number of points scored). Passing points for the next stage are also set; in Moscow, for example, you can become a winner of the regional stage and still not reach the final.

school and municipal stages are of no interest: a sufficiently prepared student should become the winner of the second stage, and, of course, no benefits are provided here.

The winners and prize-winners of the regional stage also do not have special benefits for admission - except for a few points in the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology or the Higher School of Economics when taking into account individual achievements. However, prize-winning "in the region" is an indicator of a good level, inspires and raises self-esteem; and at the interview at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology they will already look at you as a decent person in general ;-)

Only the winners and prize-winners of the final have the privilege, and it is maximum - BVI, that is, admission without entrance examinations (out of competition) to any university in the direction that corresponds to the profile of the Olympiad.

Listed Olympiads: levels, diplomas, benefits

At the list Olympiad, you can get a diploma of I degree, II degree or III degree. Holders of diplomas of the 1st degree are called the winners of the Olympiad; holders of diplomas II and III degree are called prize-winners. To win the Olympiad (so they say in folklore) means to be among its winners or prize-winners, that is, to receive a diploma.

Each Olympiad has a certain level: first, second or third. The levels of the Olympiads are fixed in the List. The higher the level of the Olympiad, the more significant benefits are its winners and prize-winners. The level that this or that Olympiad has is not directly related to the difficulty of winning it (and what it is connected with is a delicate matter) and can change from year to year.

The benefits provided by universities are of three types:

  • BVI ("without entrance examinations") - out-of-competition enrollment by a separate order, issued before the orders for admission to the competition in the first and second waves (in other words, all BVI students who submitted documents will be enrolled first, and the rest of the applicants ranked by decreasing the amount of their competitive points in major subjects);
  • crediting 100 points for DWI (additional entrance test- at Moscow State University, for example);
  • crediting 100 points in the subject instead of the result of the exam.

Benefits for the current academic year are announced by universities around October 1. The type of benefit may depend on the level of the Olympiad and the degree of the diploma received at it. Universities themselves decide what benefits to provide. Each university has its own specifics; see examples of university benefits in 2018/19 - MIPT, HSE, Moscow State University.

If a privilege is formulated for an Olympiad of a given level (without specifying specific Olympiads), then it applies to all Olympiads of a given level. Let, for example, you have a diploma from the Phystech Olympiad in physics (which has a 1st level), and at the same time you enter the VMK MSU. Among the benefits of this faculty, we see: the winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad in Physics of the 1st level receive 100 points towards the Unified State Examination in Physics. Despite the fact that you have a diploma from the MIPT Olympiad, you are credited with 100 points for the Unified State Exam in physics at the VMK. In the same way, at MIPT you will be given 100 points in mathematics for a diploma not only from Phystech, but also from a number of other Olympiads (for example, the Lomonosov Olympiad or Conquer Sparrow Hills!, which are held at Moscow State University).

At the same time, universities are allowed to establish their own list of Olympiads, for which benefits are provided to applicants. Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Higher School of Economics use this opportunity, Moscow State University almost does not.

The holder of the diploma of the Olympiad can receive a privilege upon admission within four years following the year of the given Olympiad. This means that diplomas received starting from the 7th grade are valuable for the applicant. However, the university has the right to specify for which classes a diploma must be obtained in order for the benefit to be granted. As a rule, benefits are provided for diplomas for grade 11.

In order to receive benefits for the listed Olympiads, a student must not yet fail the Unified State Examination. At the moment, the threshold USE score for confirming benefits is 75 points.

Why should you prepare for the Olympics?

Serious preparation for the Olympiads and active participation in them is much more important and useful than the usual preparation for the exam. There are a number of reasons to focus specifically on the Olympics.

  • Preparation for the Olympiads is a deep study of mathematics and physics, plus the constant practice of solving complex and non-standard problems. Such activity develops the intellect and creates a good basis for further studies at the university. Experience shows that students of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Moscow State University or the Higher School of Economics, who at one time prepared only for the Unified State Examination, begin to experience problems in mathematics and physics in the very first semester; at the same time, those guys who actively participated in the olympiads (albeit unsuccessfully) subsequently learn university material much easier. In this regard, the results of a study of the performance of university students published by the Russian Union of Rectors are of interest. The main conclusion of this study is: only those who entered as winners of the Olympiads demonstrate a steady upward trend in academic performance at its level above the average.
  • Preparing for the Olympiads, you automatically receive comprehensive preparation for the Unified State Examination, and at a much higher level. Some tasks of the Olympiads "Phystech", "Lomonosov", "Conquer Vorobyovy Gory" in appearance resemble the tasks of the Unified State Examination, but at the same time are more meaningful and difficult. Even if you fail to win any of the Olympiads, you will come to the Unified State Examination calm, without shaking in the knees - after all, you will have experience in solving much more complex problems behind you. And peace of mind, coupled with the accumulated skill, will provide you with a competitive advantage in the Unified State Examination and will give you the opportunity to get the highest possible score.
  • The diploma of the Olympiad will provide you with the admission benefits described above (that is, at least 100 points towards the USE). At the same time, becoming the winner of the Olympiad is a much more realistic task than getting the same 100 points at the USE itself (dispassionate statistics: there are an order of magnitude fewer 100 points from the USE than the winners and prize-winners of the Olympiads). Therefore, if your potential USE level is at least 80 points, then you have a good chance to win some kind of Olympiad and put 100 points for the USE in this subject into your piggy bank.
  • Several Olympics; If it didn’t work out at one Olympiad, perhaps it will work out at another or third. At the same time, the exam is given only once, and ridiculous mistakes on the exam, from which no one is insured, can simply cross out fate.
  • It can happen (for example, in some specialties of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology or high school Economics) that it would be pointless to present only the results of the Unified State Examination - there will be more Olympiad diploma holders who have submitted documents than state-funded places, so all places will go to Olympiads.
  • Entrance exams are dead, but their cause lives on. Olympiads "Lomonosov" and "Conquer Sparrow Hills" in their content continue the tradition of entrance exams for Mekhmat, VMK and Physics Faculty of Moscow State University (which existed before the era of the Unified State Examination). Similarly, the Physics and Technology Olympiad inherited the spirit and specifics of the previous entrance exams at MIPT. Respectively, teaching materials for preparation - the sea, and in general it is clear how and for what one should prepare here (to the greatest extent this applies to the Phystech Olympiad).
Olympiads in mathematics and physics in Moscow

Below you can see a list of the most important math and physics olympiads that provide admission benefits (with an indication of the levels of the olympiads) that you can take part in in Moscow. In short, the RSOSH Olympiads are the fastest and easiest way to a university for any reasonably reasonable and relatively talented person. Now to the details:

Significant benefits for admission are given only by the Olympiads included in the list of the RSOS (Russian Council of Olympiads for School Students).

At any Olympiad, you can get a diploma of I degree (winners of the Olympiad), II degree or III degree (winners of the Olympiad). Each Olympiad has a certain level: first, second or third. Olympiad levels are determined at the beginning school year by order of the Ministry of Education. The higher the level of the Olympiad, the more extensive benefits are received by its winners and prize-winners. Note that the complexity of the tasks of the Olympiad does not always correlate with its level. You can determine what level is assigned to a particular Olympiad and get additional information.

Depending on the level of the Olympiad and the degree of the diploma, the university provides the applicant with three types of benefits:

1) enrollment without exams (BVI);

2) 100 points for DWI additional entrance test (MSU);

3) 100 points in the subject instead of the result of the exam.

Benefits depend on the degree of the diploma and on the level of the Olympiad and are published by universities until June 1st.

Assessing your strengths and capabilities relative to the university, look at what level of olympiads and what degree diplomas give an advantage when entering this university.

Advantages of the Olympics:

1) If a person was seriously preparing for the Olympiads, then he automatically received a broader and more comprehensive mathematical base, which would later give his positive effect when writing the exam.

2) There is practically no competition for certain specialties and areas based on the results of the Unified State Examination, since almost all places are occupied by winners and winners of Olympiads.

3) Since the lists of benefits are published by universities on June 1, the winners of the Olympiads get the opportunity to spend the USE season without hassle, because they are already confident in the results in some subjects, and, perhaps, in general admission.
