What happened to the Brazilian team. Brazil declares 3 days of mourning over soccer players' deaths

The plane, on board of which, among other passengers, was Brazilian soccer team Chapecoense, crashed on 29 November. The players were heading to the city of Medellin, where the final match of the Copa Sudamericana against Atlético Nacional was to take place. According to the latest data, out of 72 passengers and 9 crew members who were on board, six people survived. Photos and videos appear on the Internet that were taken before departure and in the cabin.

The tragedy occurred in the province of Anticoia in the La Unión region, 50 kilometers from the city of Medellin. After it became known that a plane crash had occurred, help was sent to the crash site. Access to the crash site and the rescue operation was difficult due to adverse weather conditions - heavy rain. Six survivors were found at the scene.

According to preliminary data, the plane crash was either due to a lack of fuel or due to electrical problems. Experts note that the plane used up all the fuel, for this reason it did not explode and there were living people. Experts also suggest that the crew of the aircraft deliberately circled over the area and used up all the fuel so that the plane did not explode when it fell. The aircraft broke into two parts. After hitting the ground, 75 people were killed. According to press reports, stewardess Jimena Suarez, journalist Rafael Enzel, as well as four Chapecoense players survived: defender Alan Ruschel, goalkeepers Marcos Danilo and Jackson Folman and an unnamed football player. Later, information appeared in the media that another living player had been found - Neto, the team's defender.

After the tragedy, the President of Brazil declared three days of mourning. In the city of Chapeco, mourning will last 30 days.

A civilian airliner carrying members of the Brazilian football team Chapecoense crashed in Colombia. Military expert, flight instructor Andrey Krasnoperov told the correspondent Federal News Agency O possible reasons plane crash.

According to preliminary information, a civil aircraft (model and number are still unknown - ed. note) was heading from Bolivia to Medellin and disappeared from radar screens near the Colombian city of Rionegro.

During the flight, the aircraft commander informed the controllers of the nearby Medellin Córdoba airport about an acute shortage of fuel. The plane was given priority in landing, but it could not reach the air harbor.

“To begin with, we note that the plane flying from Bolivia for a long time could not undergo major repairs due to the heavy workload. In addition, we do not know how the aircraft was serviced, so some kind of technical malfunction could play a role. But here the situation with fuel is more real. If the board took off already with its minimum balance, then it could well have not reached it. The amount of fuel must be calculated by the navigator, and if we take into account that they are not on the planes now, there are only the left pilot and the right pilot, and the role of the navigator is performed by the computer, the situation becomes possible. In my memory, there was a case when a squadron of Tu-22 aircraft was flying, and during the flight the navigator considered that there might not be enough fuel - they just sat down. It should have been the same here," Krasnoperov emphasized.

Initially, it was reported that everyone on board died during the crash. However, later, Radio 360 spread the information that some still managed to survive - rescuers found at least six survivors at the crash site. It should be noted that in Medellin, the Chapecoense team was supposed to play in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final against the Colombian Atlético Nacional. The game was scheduled for the evening of November 30th.

“If the commander of the ship reported that there was a shortage of fuel, he, of course, had to make a decision and land on the nearest airfield, but apparently they wanted to hold out, the human factor. Approximately the same thing happened near Smolensk, when the Polish president crashed - he also had to fly to an alternate airfield. And here we have what we have. In this case, the haste factor worked - the athletes, the football players have a game, the coach said "to fly by any means." Landing at another airfield was not allowed, otherwise the disruption of plans and everything else. Well, such moments happen in flight practice. When the “must” command prevails over flight safety, the expert concluded.

Recall that the Brazilian football club "Chapecoense" plays in the top division of the championship of Brazil. The team captain is a midfielder Kleber Santana, who played, in particular, for Atlético Madrid.

Almost the entire main composition of the Brazilian football club Chapecoense, heading to Colombian Medellin for the first final match of the Copa Sudamericana against Atlético Nacional, died in a plane crash that occurred on Tuesday night over Colombian territory. There were 81 people on board, including Chapecoense players, team attendants, journalists and crew members. However, by some miracle, five of them managed to survive. This may contribute to a more rapid clarification of the causes of the tragedy. On this moment the main ones are two versions - electronics failure and fuel depletion.

Catastrophe

On Monday night, about 30 km from Medellin, the BAe 146 aircraft of the Bolivian airline LaMia crashed. A total of 81 people were on board, including almost the entire main team of the Brazilian football club Chapecoense, heading to Medellin, where the first final match of the Copa Sudamericana (the second most important club tournament) was scheduled for December 1 South America after the Copa Libertadores), in which the Colombian "Atletico Nacional" had to confront the Brazilians. In addition to the players, coaches and members of the team's staff, there were also 21 journalists and nine crew members on board.

At about 22:00 local time, the crew of the ship, at that time at an altitude of about 4500 m, filed a distress signal, according to Colombian authorities. He soon disappeared from the radar. Rescuers, given the circumstances, in particular the fact that the plane crashed in a mountainous and wooded area, as well as the fact that it was raining heavily in the fall zone, quickly managed to arrive at the crash site. It soon became clear that there were survivors in the plane crash. Among them were two goalkeepers of the team - Danilou and Jackson Follman, defenders Alan Ruschel and Elihu Zampier, as well as one of the journalists and a flight attendant.

The presence of survivors of the disaster allows us to hope that the investigation into the causes of the tragedy will be faster than usual. At the moment, the Colombian authorities have almost ruled out the version with the error of the pilots. This is prompted by the fact that the crew, even before the car disappeared from the radar, managed to report that the aircraft's electronic equipment was failing. In addition, the flight attendant, who survived the crash, said that the flight was normal, but at some point all four engines stopped at once. In his opinion, it looked like the plane simply ran out of fuel.

Note that the crashed BAe 146 was produced in 1999. It has been operated by LaMia airline since 2013, and during this time it was this aircraft that regularly transported football teams, including the Argentine national team or the same Atlético Nacional. At the airport in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz, from where he followed (the Brazilian aviation authorities did not give the Bolivian company permission to charter a flight to Colombia, arguing that such flights should be operated by either Brazilian or Colombian carriers), they said that the pre-flight inspection did not reveal no problem.

After it became known about the disaster, the Brazilian authorities declared three days of mourning in the country. In turn, the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) canceled all matches held under its auspices until further notice. Of course, this also applies to the finals of the Copa Sudamericana, which now definitely will not take place. Well, it is possible that Chapecoense will be declared the winner. At least this proposal was made yesterday by the leadership of Atlético Nacional.
