World Youth Wrestling Championship. World Youth Wrestling Championship: Mansur Syrgak uulu failed to reach the semi-finals

Russian wrestlers completed their main start in 2018 triumphantly. 10 gold medals at the World Championships in Budapest looked especially bright against the backdrop of the disastrous Paris 2017, where there were no victories at all. Two years before the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, the result, of course, is encouraging. I would like to believe that our wrestlers will shine at the 2020 Games.

But what if we look a little further? For example, in the direction of the 2024 Olympics. You ask - how? And the answer is very simple: November 18 in Bucharest ended the world championship in wrestling among athletes under 23 years old. Some of the tournament participants will have a chance to perform in Japan, and many will wait for their chance for another four years. And the question arises - what about our youth?

Inaccessible wrestlers

In Romania wrestlers of all styles competed. But summing up is worth starting with the most important. The Russian freestyle wrestling team simply left no chance for competitors. Our wrestlers won nine medals in ten weight categories (two of them were gold) and left Georgia and Iran far behind in the team standings.

It is curious that the Russians collected the main medal harvest literally on the flag - on the last day of the tournament. Prior to that, freestyle wrestlers had four awards, but no victories. However, on Sunday, our wrestlers shone on the main carpet of the tournament. Magomedrasul Idrisov in the first final of the day defeated the American Sean Faus ahead of schedule and ended the shock year on a golden note: in the 2018 season, Idrisov managed to win the European Championship and the Russian Championship.

The final final of the entire tournament turned out to be golden for our team. Heavyweight Said Hamidov outwardly easily put the American Yusif Khemid on the shoulder blades and won the well-deserved title. Could get to the gold award and team leader - European champion Artur Naifonov. However, in the final, the best fighter of the Old World could not cope with the Iranian Gasempur.

So the Russian freestyle wrestling team returns to Russia with a scattering of awards, a weighty team cup and excellent prospects. These guys will make themselves known again and again!

Golovin's new victory

Unfortunately, in Greco-Roman wrestling there is no need to talk about a complete triumph. A team was sent to Bucharest, which recently shone at the European Championship - three winners and four prize-winners. However, on the world stage to achieve a similar result did not work.

In the team standings, the Russians were in second place, losing to competitors from Georgia. Georgians have amassed a collection of five awards (three gold), while Russia has four medals and one victory. Perhaps the team failed to fully realize its potential.

Best result in the team showed Alexander Golovin - one of the best fighters of his generation in the world. IN weight class up to 97 kg he has had no equal in U23 tournaments for two years now. Alexander won the world championship last year, and in 2018 he added a victory at the European championship and, accordingly, a second victory at the world championship. Not far, perhaps, is the hour when Golovin breaks into the main Russian team - he has every chance for this.

"Living people are not ready to withstand my throws." Karelin's heir says

Therefore, the new world champion in heavyweight champion Sergey Semyonov trains on "stuffed animals". Approximately fifty throws per workout.

It is also worth noting the silver performance of the champion of Russia in the lightest weight - Vitaly Kabaloev. He reached the final of the tournament without apparent difficulty, but there he lost to the Georgian Nugzari Tsurtsumiya, who annoyed the Russian wrestlers for the second time in a month: at the adult world championship, he stopped Vasily Topoev and eventually became a bronze medalist.

Make five out of two medals

IN women's wrestling Russian fans are used to being rather pessimistic. However, our team in Bucharest was a pleasant surprise: five awards and second place in the team standings after the almost invincible Japanese women is a positive result.

Milana Dadasheva, who reached the bronze medal at the 2018 European Adult Championship, managed to break into the medal four at the World Championship. To be more precise, even a deuce. Milana confidently went through the tournament distance to the very final, however, in the decisive confrontation, she still lost to the Japanese Momoka Kadoya. Unfortunately, the second Russian finalist suffered the same fate: Nadezhda Sokolova lost to Miho Igarashi from Japan in the decisive battle.

The Russian team also had three bronze medals. By a curious coincidence, everything was won by the girls who won the European Championship. Alexandra Andreeva (up to 57 kg), Maria Kuznetsova (up to 65 kg) and Khanum Velieva (up to 68 kg) left Bucharest with awards.

The performance of Russian girls in Romania can hardly be considered excellent, but good, for sure. After all, a year ago at the tournament in Poland, Russia had only two bronze medals.

As part of the World Championship in wrestling among juniors, which is taking place these days in the city of Trnava (Slovakia), a freestyle wrestling tournament starts on September 21.

On this day, preliminary bouts will be held in five weight categories - up to 57 kg, up to 65 kg, up to 70 kg, up to 79 kg and up to 97 kg. Five athletes will compete from Kyrgyzstan.

The preliminary bouts start at 14:30 Bishkek time, and the fights for reaching the final start at 22:00.
