Mlg columbus cs go schedule. Distribution of teams into groups and full tournament schedule

Introduction

In CS:GO, souvenir items first appeared in 2013 at the DreamHack Winter championship. Since then, souvenirs have attracted spectators at tournaments in Katowice, Cologne, DreamHack and many others, making it possible to receive a virtual item just for watching.

Souvenir packs can only be obtained during a CS:GO match in a tournament sponsored by Valve. In order to receive the set, the player must watch the match through a twitch account linked to Steam or simply through GOTV. Many souvenirs can be found on the Steam marketplace.

What is this guide about?
This guide gives short review unusual, rare, or simply interesting souvenirs. The guide contains information about the souvenirs for each major, the popularity of certain items, and a bit of history about what makes them collectibles.

What's not here
There is no information on prices, nor information on how to make money on souvenirs. Keep in mind that due to the large number of tournaments and various changes, this guide will not be short.

What makes a souvenir item rare?

Many factors! There are a lot various reasons, which can affect the price of souvenirs, so it is very difficult to determine their value. With so many factors involved, the price of each souvenir can be very subjective. Besides low supply and high demand, here are some of the main factors that influence the price of a collectible:

  • Appearance (Battle-Scarred to Factory New)
  • Rarity (Consumer goods - Secret)
  • The card the souvenir belongs to
  • Stage of the tournament at which the souvenir dropped
  • Decals (stickers) on weapons
  • MVP/team associated with the souvenir
  • Some mistakes that happened with souvenirs

#1.) DreamHack Winter 2013 - The beginning of the history of souvenirs

This is the first tournament with souvenirs and the only one where all souvenirs had only one sticker. In total, 6 regular and 6 metal stickers were available (obviously, metal ones were more in demand):

Lots of items from this era are highly sought after as long as they are Factory Fresh and come with a metal decal. Metal sticker for AWP Factory Direct:

Available collections
Souvenirs of this major can be from the following collections:

  • Dust II
  • Train
  • Mirage
  • Safehouse *
  • Lake *
  • Italy *
* = collections were only available at the DreamHack 2013 and Katowice 2014 tournaments. After these two tournaments, souvenirs from the Safehouse, Lake and Italy collections were no longer issued and now souvenirs can only be from collections of cards from the active pool**. This makes some items from discontinued collections very rare.
** = active pool (or current tournament cards) - those cards on which majors are held. Reserve pool - all other cards (they are not played on majors).

The only existing souvenir Factory Direct M4A1-S | Nitro:

Tournament stages
Some people prefer to collect items from certain stages of the tournament where their favorite team is participating: the group stage, quarter-finals, semi-finals or grand finals. Souvenir of the grand final between the teams NiP and Fnatic:

Pre-tournament testing
In order to test the system for issuing souvenirs, Valve conducted two test matches. The first was attended by Valve developers and ESL employees (Valve Squad Alpha vs Valve Squad Bravo), and the second by professional players (NiP Team A vs NiP Team B). The match between Valve developers and ESL employees was supposed to take place on the de_militia map, but was canceled due to technical problems. Therefore, very few spectators managed to attend the match, as a result of which Only about 60 souvenir sets dropped.

Souvenir item and souvenir set that dropped during the first test match:

The second test match was held between members of the Ninjas in Pajamas team (former and current players) on the de_aztec map. Because the NiP team participated in the second test match, there were more spectators than in the first, as a result about 100-150 souvenir sets dropped. NiP team B won with a score of 16-13. Team compositions:

NiP Team A

  • SpawN
  • walle
  • Fifflaren
  • GeT_RiGhT
NIP Team B
  • Friberg
  • HeatoN
  • f0rest
  • Potti

Exhibition match souvenirs
There was also another demonstrative munch. The match took place between the teams Team Duncan vs Team Tomi. Although it was only an exhibition match, it was attended by the same number of spectators as at the group stage matches, as a result of which there are quite a lot of souvenir sets of this match. The teams are named after the tournament's analysts (Duncan "Thorin" Shields and Tomi "Lurppis" Kovanen). Each analyst took five professional players to his team. Team Tomi won both maps and finished the exhibition match with a score of 2-0. Team compositions:

Team Duncan

  • Dosia
  • kennyS
  • starix
  • Delpan
Team Tomi
  • markeloff
  • Skadoodle
  • anger
  • pasha

Souvenirs without mentioning teams
Some souvenirs are not associated with any of the teams participating in the tournament. Most likely, they were received only by Valve and DreamHack employees by chance or as a gift. These souvenirs do not have the yellow description text that indicates which teams the match took place between. Recently, these souvenirs are increasingly appearing on the trading platform, which means they are not as rare as previously thought. Below is a comparison of souvenirs with and without teams:

Nameless souvenirs
Like non-team memorabilia, these memorabilia have no team or tournament information, making them very difficult to find. It is unknown how many of these items exist, making them quite rare. These souvenirs have no yellow description text at all, only the name of the item. We can assume that this is a prototype of the very first souvenirs or even the result of a software error.

So far, only one nameless souvenir is known:

#2.) ESL One: Katowice 2014

For the first time at this Major, souvenirs with three stickers appeared: one sticker with the logo of each of the teams participating in the match, and a third sticker of either a gold ESL Skull or a gold ESL Wolf. Also introduced for the first time were team stickers that can be applied to any weapon. These are the oldest professional team stickers you can find.

Available collections

  • Dust II
  • Train
  • Mirage
  • Safehouse *
  • Lake *
  • Italy *
* = last tournament that featured souvenirs from this collection.

Pre-tournament testing
Valve also made a test launch of the souvenir distribution system. However, this time there was only one match between Valve Squad Alpha and Valve Squad Bravo. In total, about 50-60 souvenir sets dropped. Unlike other Katowice 2014 souvenirs, these items only have one sticker: either a gold ESL Wolf or a gold ESL Skull.
Souvenirs and souvenir set that dropped during the test match:

While this tournament has become famous for its rare holographic Titan and iBUYPOWER stickers, metal versions of these stickers also exist. Due to the controversy that surrounds these two teams regarding fixed matches and VAC bans, and given the fact that both teams no longer exist, these souvenirs have noticeably increased in price.

#3.) ESL One: Cologne 2014

This tournament is the first in which such collections as Nuke, Inferno, Cobblestone, Overpass and Cache appeared. As of this tournament, Safehouse, Lake, and Italy memorabilia items have been discontinued. All team stickers received a round shape, and the third golden sticker was the ESL One logo:

Available collections

  • Dust II
  • Train
  • Mirage
  • Inferno*
  • Nuke*
  • Cobblestone*
  • Overpass*
  • Cache*
* = souvenirs from these collections were presented for the first time at this major

In the future, the Nuke map was removed from the active pool and replaced with the Train map so that Valve developers could update it and return it to the active pool in 2016 to replace the Inferno map. This has led to a gradual increase in prices for Nuke card memorabilia, especially for Factory Fresh items.

Souvenir Tec-9 from the Nuke collection:

Souvenir AWP | The story of the dragon
This tournament is special due to the introduction of the Souvenir AWP | The story of a dragon, an item known for its low supply and high demand among collectors and players.

Below is a very rare Souvenir AWP | A story about a dragon. He fell into group stage between the iBUYPOWER and dAT team. This souvenir is also very popular because it has a metal sticker from the iBUYPOWER team. Unfortunately, the stickers from this AWP were later removed by one of its owners. This is one of the very first souvenir AWP | A story about a dragon in CS:GO.

Although these stickers are not considered as rare as iBUYPOWER or Titan, it is worth noting that Epsilon E-sports team memorabilia was only available at the Cologne 2014 tournament. Epsilon E-Sports did not participate in other majors because one of the players of this team (Sf) received a VAC ban and the entire team was not allowed to participate in the next major, DreamHack Winter 2014.

The MTS GameGod Wolf and dAT teams also participated in the Majors only once. The main part of the dAT team members later participated in other majors like FlipSid3 Tactics.

#4.) DreamHack Winter 2014

Perhaps the most interesting tournament on this moment. This major was the first where it became known that foul play could actually be high level. DreamHack 2014 stickers are square in shape, the third golden sticker is the DreamHack Winter 2014 logo.

VAC scandal
The most notable event of this tournament (and the first in the history of the majors) was the disqualification of teams with players who received a VAC ban for dishonest play on the eve of the tournament: Titan and Epsilon Esports. Although these two teams do not have DreamHack 2014 stickers, others do have tournament stickers four teams, who fought for two vacant slots. It’s not so much the souvenirs of these teams that are interesting, but the fact that these pre-meds dropped during qualification for the tournament . The teams that fought to get to the major: London Conspiracy, FlipSid3 Tactics, 3DMAX, and Copenhagen Wolves.

Additional qualification for major
As mentioned above, because four teams competed for two open slots, 2 teams that lost qualification did not qualify for the major, which makes their souvenirs more rare. These two teams are London Conspiracy and 3DMAX. Although the London Conspiracy team was defeated by FlipSid3 Tactics with a score of 0-2, and 3DMAX by the Copenhagen Wolves with a score of 1-2, both of these teams had gold stickers on their souvenir drops, because... qualifying matches broadcast together with the major himself. This makes the London Conspiracy and 3DMAX teams the only teams in the tournament that do not have any other stickers (plain, holographic or metallic) other than the gold stickers on the souvenirs themselves.

Because Both winning teams wanted to get into group B, it was decided to hold a “best of 1” match, where it would be decided who would take the free slot in this group. The match took place on the Cobblestone map and ended in victory for the Copenhagen Wolves team.

The only known souvenir with the Forbidden rarity of the decisive match of Group B:

Replanting the Fnatic team on the Overpass map
In the quarterfinals between Fnatic and LDLC, each team won one map in the "best of 3" series. The semi-finalist had to decide on the third map -
Overpass. Starting from the first round on the special forces (CT) side with a score of 3-12, Fnatic players planted their player (Olofmeister) in a position where he could see almost the entire map ( link). The match ended in victory for the Fnatic team with a score of 16-13. After the match, the LDLC team filed a complaint because I considered this tip to be a violation of the rules, the so-called “pixel walking”, which is prohibited by the rules of the DreamHack tournament. The tournament organizers decided to replay the second half of the Overpass map (which Fnatic won) with a score of 12-3 in favor of the LDLC team. The organizers of DreamHack stated that they made this decision because the planted player could see through transparent textures. The Fnatic team did not agree with this decision and filed a complaint against the LDLC team, because they also used this plant. Taking into account the new information, the DreamHack tournament organizers then took extra time to review the tips that Team LDLC made in the first half before making a final decision. The final decision was to replay the third map (Overpass) from the score 0-0, as both teams used transparent textures and "immortal bug" ( link). The Fnatic team refused to replay and left the tournament, the LDLC team advanced to the semifinals. This controversial situation makes memorabilia from this match interesting collectibles.

Souvenir SSG08 | The detour from this match is especially rare, because This is one of the weapons that player Olofmeister used while planted on the Overpass map:

Typo: Incorrect iBUYPOWER team sticker name
Another notable souvenir from this major is that the iBUYPOWER team souvenir stickers were introduced into the game with a typo in the name. Instead of the correct “iBUYPOWER (GOLD)”, the sticker was called “iBUYPOWER 9GOLD)”. Together with the controversy surrounding the iBUYPOWER team, this typo makes iBUYPOWER merchandise even more valuable. There is no typo in the Russian translation of the name of the sticker.

Another mistake: the name of the Dignitas team sticker
All Team Dignitas souvenirs from the DreamHack 2014 Major do not display the name of the sticker with the logo of this team, although it should be: "Team Dignitas (gold) | DreamHack 2014". Instead of a space between two commas, there should be the name of the Team Dignitas team sticker:

Souvenir Tec-9 with a sticker without a name:

Teams that have only participated in Majors once
Although souvenirs from these teams are not in high demand, they are still interesting because... teams participated in majors only once. These teams are Bravado Gaming, Planetkey Dynamics, ESC Gaming and myXMG.

#5.) ESL One: Katowice 2015

This is the first Major of 2015 and the last tournament where you could get souvenirs from the Nuke Collection. After the Katowice 2015 Major, Nuke was removed from the active pool and replaced with Train. This map was later updated and released in Operation Wildfire in 2016. Souvenirs from the Nuke collection could be obtained already at MLG Columbus 2016 (only in the All-Star game). Soon after, the Nuke card replaced the Inferno card in the active pool and was played at the Cologne 2016 Major. At Katowice 2015, stickers were once again presented in a new design: team logos inscribed in a parallelogram:

The third sticker (with the tournament logo) has become less golden, now it is made in yellow and blue colors:

Available collections

  • Dust II
  • Mirage
  • Inferno
  • Nuke*
  • Cobblestone
  • Overpass
  • Cache
* = This was the last time Nuke Collection memorabilia was available until the card was played in the MLG Columbus 2016 All-Star Game and later reintroduced into the active pool prior to the 2016 Cologne Major.

Teams that have only participated in Majors once
Katowice 2015 was the only Major for the Keyd Stars team. Despite the fact that the team advanced from the group, it ended its performance straight away in the quarterfinals, losing to Virtus.Pro. Most of the Keyd Stars roster continued to compete in tournaments as Luminosity Gaming.

Very rare souvenir M4A4 | Radiation Hazard with Keyd Stars Gold Sticker:

#6.) ESL One: Cologne 2015

Cologne 2015 is the first major with souvenirs, which have four stickers: the tournament logo, two triangular team logos, a rectangular sticker with the autograph of the player who received MVP in the round when the souvenir was dropped. The addition of a fourth sticker made it possible to collect memorabilia from your favorite players. The MVP sticker is a digital version of the professional player's autograph, adding a little personality to the stickers.

All four gold stickers on the Souvenir AWP | A story about a dragon straight from the factory. The MVP autograph of player JW (who is obviously known as a sniper) greatly increases the value of this weapon.

Available collections
Before the Cologne 2015 tournament, Valve removed the Nuke map from the active pool, replacing it with the updated Train map. The active pool for this tournament is as follows:

  • Dust II
  • Mirage
  • Inferno
  • Train *
  • Cobblestone
  • Overpass
  • Cache
* = new card

High demand for some souvenirs
While guns straight from the factory are typically more expensive, autographed memorabilia from some popular players may be in similar demand. Such players include kennyS, ScreaM, shox, GeT_RiGhT, olofmeister, s1mple and others.

Teams that have only participated in Majors once
There were four teams in this tournament that only made it to the Major once: Team King.uin (Valve censors this team's name for some reason, hence the dotted name), Team Immunity, Team eBettle, and Renegades. Team King.uin advanced from the group, but then lost to TSM with a score of 0-2. Team Immunity and Team Ebettle were eliminated in the group stage with a score of 0-2. The Renegades team was also eliminated in the group stage, but with a score of 1-2.

#7.) DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015

This is the second major with souvenirs that have 4 stickers. Although Cologne 2015 had square stickers with autographs, triangular stickers with team logos and a round tournament logo, Cluj-Napoca 2015 changed the sticker design. Stickers with autographs are now in the shape of a pentagon, and stickers with team logos and the tournament logo are now in the shape of a five-pointed star.

All four gold stickers on the Souvenir M4A1-S| Knight:

  • Dust II
  • Mirage
  • Inferno

Souvenirs without autographs
During the semi-final match between Team G2 Esports and Team EnVyUs, 118 souvenir packs dropped without MVP's autographs on them. This happened unintentionally during warm-up. Because There are no autographs on things, souvenirs come with only three stickers. At first glance, it may look like someone simply scratched off the autograph sticker, but if you look more closely, you'll notice that the MVP is not listed in the yellow text on the weapon's description.

Souvenirs without an autograph sticker:

Teams that have only participated in Majors once
This Major was the first where you could get Vexed Gaming team memorabilia. Unfortunately, the team did not show good result and was eliminated in the group stage with a score of 0-2.

#8.) MLG Columbus 2016

MLG Columbus continued to change the sticker design: now they are in the shape of a diamond.

Available collections

  • Dust II
  • Mirage
  • Inferno
  • Train
  • Cobblestone
  • Overpass
  • Cache
  • Nuke*
* = this was the first major with the updated Nuke map. Because The card was not included in the active pool and could not be played in official matches. The map was only played in the All-Star Game

THREAT Player Souvenirs
Some Ninjas in Pajamas memorabilia does not have autographs. Player Pyth was unable to participate in the tournament due to visa issues, so the team coach (THREAT) played in his place. Because Since the THREAT autograph sticker did not exist, the souvenirs that dropped in rounds where the MVP was THREAT only had three stickers.

Versions with and without autograph
For some strange reason, there are two types of THREAT player memorabilia: with and without mention of the player in the description. For the first ones, the description directly states that the souvenir is signed by the player Björn Pers (THREAT), who received the most valuable player award in the round. These souvenirs can be found in the advanced search on the marketplace by player name. Souvenir items without mentioning THREAT in the description cannot be found using this method, which makes finding such things more difficult.
UPDATE: Some players may see THREAT as MVP in the description of their memorabilia, while this information is not shown to other players. Most likely, the missing information will be added to all unsigned memorabilia soon.

Souvenir sets with and without mention of the player in the description:

Some THREAT player memorabilia are not as common as others. Here is the number of MVPs THREAT received in each match:

  • vs Flipsid3 on Cache - 2 MVPs
  • vs Luminosity on Mirage - 1 MVP
  • vs Mousesports on Overpass - 2 MVPs
  • vs Mousesports on Cache - 1 MVP
  • vs Mousesports on Cobbletone - 1 MVP
  • vs Navi on Mirage - 0 MVPs
  • vs Navi on Inferno - 3 MVPs

All-Star Team Europe vs. All-Star Team America
As a way to add something new, an All-Star game was played before the Grand Final. The match was attended by professional players (major participants) from Europe and America, who were voted for by the largest number of spectators. The match was played in a "best of 1" format and was not originally planned to be played on the Nuke map. After Team Europe vetoed three maps (Overpass, Cobblestone and Dust2) and Team America vetoed two maps (Inferno and Train), the Nuke map was chosen at random from the remaining Cache, Mirage and Nuke. This game is also unique in that it was possible to get souvenirs with a new holographic All-Star sticker as a replacement for stickers with team logos. The All-Star match teams were as follows:

All-Star Team Europe

  • KennyS
  • Maikelele
  • GeT_RiGhT
All-Star Team America
  • Skadoodle
  • tarik
  • shroud
  • S1mple

Teams that have only participated in Majors once
Four teams participated in this major for the first time: Astralis, Faze Clan, Gambit Gaming and Splyce. While teams Astralis, Faze Clan and Gambit qualified for the next major, team Splyce could not boast of the same.

#9.) ESL One: Cologne 2016

Cologne 2016 has changed its sticker design. Now they are made in the shape of a triangular crystal.

A representative Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament with $1 million in prize money has started in the capital of the American state of Ohio. In this article we will briefly explain why it is worth keeping an eye on.

16 gathered in Columbus best teams on CS:GO from all over the world. This is the first major tournament that is not held in Europe. Thus, Valve continued to expand the eSports geography of their games. Dota 2 has already passed this path, now it’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s turn.

The tournament itself, like other majors, was divided into a group stage and playoffs. 16 teams were divided into four groups, in which each team played the others once. The first place in the group was taken by the team that won the first two matches using the Bo1 system, i.e. up to one card won. Second place in the group went to the team that won the decisive match using the Bo3 system. Eight teams qualified for the playoffs of the tournament, which also took place up to two winning maps.

The group stage matches took place at the arena of the tournament organizers - MLG.tv Columbus Arena. But the playoff games will be played in a multifunctional sports complex- Nationwide Arena, which seats 20 thousand spectators.

The tournament prize pool of $1,000,000 was distributed as follows:

1st place - $500,000 Luminosity Gaming (Brazil)
2nd place - $150,000 Natus Vincere
3rd place - $70,000 Team Liquid (USA)
4th place - $70,000 Astralis (Austria)
5th place - $35,000 Ninjas in Pajamas (Sweden)
6th place - $35,000 Fnatic (Sweden)
7th place - $35,000 Counter Logic Gaming (USA)
8th place - $35,000 Virtus.pro (Poland)

Experts consider Natus Vincere, which has gained a good run, and, of course, the legendary Swedish Fnatic, the favorites of MLG Columbus. Also, the Brazilian Luminosity has a great chance of taking home half a million dollars.

At all subsequent major tournaments with the support of Valve prize fund will be equal to one million dollars, of which exactly half will go to the winner’s account. The tournament itself is unique not only because its prize money is a phenomenal amount for competitive Counter-Strike, but also stands out for its organizer and venue.

MLG may be familiar to many viewers of our community for a series of tournaments held with their direct participation, called CEVO. Recently, the LAN finals of each tournament in the CEVO series have been held in Columbus, Ohio, USA, at the popular MLG.tv Arena, which, by the way, will host the group stage of the upcoming event from Valve. Play-off stage tournament will take place at the Nationwade Arena, home of the local hockey club.

Concept of MLG Arena and Nationwade Arena:

Let us remind you that at the event our viewers will have someone to cheer for, since three teams from the CIS will be represented in Columbus at once, which has not happened for a long time. This is about Natus Vincere, Flipsid3 Tactics And Gambit Gaming, which were defined in different groups, and each of these squads has a theoretical chance of reaching the playoffs. Don't forget about the presence of the team Virtus.pro, which is in the same group with the “born to win”.

As for the tournament format, the organizers decided not to deviate from the traditional scheme, which is represented by the group stage, with the subsequent exit of the two best teams from each group to the playoffs. All matches of the group stage will be held in bo1 format, while in the playoffs - bo3.

The English-language broadcast will traditionally consist of Anders Blum and August “Semmler” Massonath. Among the analysts, it is worth highlighting the representative of Sweden, Robin “
