Map of the flooded villages of the Kostroma reservoir. From the history of my country

You can get a route for the car by entering the name of the place from where you want to leave and where to get. Enter the names of points in the nominative case and in full, with the name of the city or region separated by commas. Otherwise, the wrong path may be laid on the online route map.

Free Yandex-map contains detailed information about the selected area, including the borders of regions, territories and regions of Russia. In the "layers" section, you can switch the map to the "Satellite" mode, then you will see a satellite image of the selected city. The "People's Map" layer contains metro stations, airports, names of neighborhoods and streets with house numbers. This is an online interactive map - you can not download it.

Nearest hotels (hotels, hostels, apartments, guest houses)

View all hotels in the area on the map

Shown above are the five nearest hotels. Among them there are both ordinary hotels and hotels with several stars, as well as cheap accommodation - hostels, apartments and guest houses. These are usually private mini-hotels of economy class. The hostel is a modern hostel. An apartment is a private apartment with daily rent, and a guest house is a large private house, where the owners themselves usually live and rent rooms for guests. You can rent a guest house with an all-inclusive service, a sauna and other attributes of a good rest. Check with the owners here.

Usually hotels are located closer to the city center, including inexpensive ones, near the metro or train station. But if this is a resort area, then the best mini-hotels, on the contrary, are located away from the center - on the coast of the sea or river.

What is a geographic map

A geographic map is an image of the Earth's surface with a coordinate grid and symbols, the proportions of which directly depend on the scale. A geography map is a landmark by which you can identify the location of that, the yoke of an array, an object or a person’s place of residence. These are indispensable assistants for geologists, tourists, pilots and the military, whose professions are directly related to travel, trips over long distances.

Types of cards

Conventionally, geographical maps can be divided into 4 types:

  • by coverage of the territory and these are maps of continents, countries;
  • by appointment and these are tourist, educational, road, navigation, scientific and reference, technical, tourist maps;
  • by content - thematic, general geographical, general political maps;
  • by scale - small-scale, medium-scale and large-scale maps.

Each of the maps is devoted to a certain topic, the thematic one reflects islands, seas, vegetation, settlements, weather, soils, taking into account the coverage of the territory. The map can only represent the applied countries, continents or states separately on a certain scale. Taking into account how reduced this or that territory, the scale of the map is 1x1000.1500, which means a decrease in the distance by 20,000 times. Of course, it is easy to guess that the larger the scale, the more detailed the map is drawn. And yet, individual parts of the earth's surface on the map are distorted, in contrast to the globe, which is able to convey the appearance of the surface without changes. The earth is spherical and distortions occur, such as: area, angles, length of objects.

Fishing in the Kostroma region makes you come back here again and again, the region is a rather fertile region with numerous reservoirs and rivers.

The Volga is the main river artery, and the largest lakes in the Kostroma region are Galichskoye and Chukhlomskoye, in addition, the Gorky reservoir is of particular interest to fishermen.

It is worth saying that in addition to the listed reservoirs, the Kostroma region has hundreds of small lakes and rivers.

More than 70 species of fish are found in the reservoirs of the Kostroma region. The most common are sabrefish, carp, crucian carp, perch, bream, pike. Sintsy burbots and pike perches are also not uncommon.

In the spring, the main object of anglers is roach, which reaches a fairly large size.

What equipment is needed for fishing in the Kostroma region? Experienced anglers prefer light or medium spinning rods. If you plan to hunt predatory species, then it is also worth considering a spare reel.

For comfortable fishing in this area you should also have mosquito nets and mosquito repellent.

Ways to increase your catch!

With 13 years of fishing experience, I learned many ways to return home with a rich catch. Here are the most effective ones:

  1. Cool activator. This additive with pheromones causes a wild appetite even in well-fed and passive fish, attracting them to the place of fishing from long distances. The Fish Hungry bite activator proved to be excellent -
  2. Tackle with increased sensitivity. You should first familiarize yourself with the features of using a particular type.
  3. Pheromone baits. They attract the attention of fish, stimulate hunger and cause a schooling reflex, which allows you to collect a lot of fish in one place.

You can get the rest of the secrets of successful fishing for free by reading my other materials on the site.

The Kostroma region offers its guests numerous recreation facilities. The greatest attention of anglers deserves "Romanov Les" and "Fisherman's House", which provide the most comfortable conditions for recreation and fishing.

For self fishing fish can be distinguished by the mouth of the Mera and Chukhloma Lake, which are famous for the abundance of asp and perch. It is worth saying that crayfish are also found in many rivers of the region, which can be lured with fish with odor or meat.

Like the people of Yaroslavl, and of course I mean our entire region, the people of Kostroma also have their own sea. Kostroma reservoir or flood (bay) of the Gorky reservoir. Kostromichi call it the sea. A lake-type reservoir with a complex shore and many islands. If you are interested in seeing the map, please click here.
Despite the fact that this is a neighboring water body, but the shore is ours! Therefore, I include these places in a series of small reviews of Nekrasov places. By the way, dobriy_vasya , you somehow asked the people in one of your posts to show local reservoirs :) Here, keep the beginning.
2.

The history of the spills is as ambiguous as the Rybinsk one. Well, maybe not on such a large scale, but still a vast lowland rich in lakes and rivers was flooded. More than 20 rural settlements were resettled. Some of them numbered from 250 to 500 households! The area of spills turned out according to different data from 176 to 260 km2.
3.

Perhaps because of the population and the abundance of lakes and rivers, the islands of the reservoir were not left without names. Read and listen to how the names of islands, rivers, former villages and lakes sing: Kast, Sot, Vopsha, Idolomka and Idolomskoe, Forgiveness, Vonga, Glushitsa, Meza, Zharki, Buckets, Vezha, Shoda, Baran, Belkina Griva, Hare :) Finno -Ugrians did their best in our area, leaving such a legacy.
On the northwestern shores (on our Yaroslavl) reservoirs there is the Yaroslavsky federal zoological reserve, which now belongs to the Pleshcheyevo Lake national park.
4.

But let's get back to the photos. Indian summer last autumn was a success and in my free time I tried to visit the Nekrasov lakes more often in order to photograph them and search for places for photo hunting various types for subsequent seasons. And on one of the warm September evenings, the gently sloping shore let us go straight to the water. And while the evening light was already quite low, it was necessary to have time to fly.

6.

The Volga actually flows near the horizon, and I was on the shore of a small bay.
7.

These aerial photographs show just a tiny fraction of the spills. Lake Sogozhskoye is visible on the left near the horizon, to which in a straight line from the shooting site is about 5 km.
8.

Having landed the battery at Vova, I walked along the shore.

PS. I take this opportunity to congratulate

Disputes about the benefits for the national economy and the harm caused to nature by hydroelectric power plants already built and still under construction will never subside. GRES provides for the creation of reservoirs, which also cause a lot of criticism. Actually, the conflict that arises when trying to solve the problems of the country's industrial and economic development and the preservation of its historical and cultural heritage is eternal. The Kostroma Sea, which is the gulf of the Gorky reservoir, is no exception. The Gorky reservoir itself is called the "mountain-sea". The expression vividly illustrates the fact that there are plenty of opponents at the reservoirs.

Boundless expanses of water

A huge lake-type reservoir, located in the lower reaches, belongs to both the Kostroma and Yaroslavl regions. It is shallow (the greatest depth is eight meters, the total is four), the coastline has a complex shape. The Kostroma Sea itself has peculiar hydrological and physical-geographic features.

In what territories is the wide Kostroma reservoir spread? These lowlands with large lakes and marshes were sung by N. A. Nekrasov. The area occupied by the Kostroma Sea reaches approximately 40 x 20 km in size (according to some sources, the occupied area is from 176 to 250 sq. km), which is why it is called not a lake, but a sea, and its fame has long gone beyond the named areas.

The finally flooded country of grandfather Mazai

On the territory of the lost country of grandfather Mazai, flooded 60 years ago, the rivers Kast (west), Sot (north), Idolomka (east) flowed. All of them, merging, formed the Uzaksu River, which, before the construction of the reservoir, was a tributary of the Kostroma, which flowed east of all these rivers.

Now the Uzaksa, like the lower course of the Kostroma, is a canal connecting the Kostroma Sea and the Volga channel section of the Gorky Reservoir. This bay is connected with the Gorky Reservoir by the former Sezeia River and the Sametskaya Gulley. Just between them is a large and beautiful Mokhovaya Island. Kostroma Bay arose on the site of dozens of lakes. The most notable of them were Lake Bolshoye, Lebedinoye, Botvino and others.

Flooded beauty

All the areas now occupied by this reservoir, from the village of Glazov, located on the Sot River, in the Yaroslavl region, to the Ipatiev Monastery and from the village of Coastal to the village of Bukhalova, from mid-March to mid-May, were flooded with melt water.

In the surviving photographs, you can see that all the houses, services and churches in the flooded villages were built on high wooden piles. Surrounded by trees, they look very picturesque. Kostroma land has always been a symbol of patriarchal Russia.

Kostroma Sloboda

In total, 20 settlements had to be evacuated, among which were quite large ones, such as Miskovo with 500 households, Kunikovo and Zharki with 450 households each. It is always a pity when something disappears from the face of the earth without a trace, but in fairness it should be noted that the amazing exhibits of wooden architecture were preserved and moved to another place.

In 1955, an extraordinary open-air museum, the Kostroma Sloboda, was created behind the southern wall of the Ipatiev Monastery. Churches were moved here, including the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior from the village of Spas-Vezhi, and the Church of the Cathedral of the Most Holy Theotokos from the village of Kholm, and the Church of the All-Merciful Savior from the village of Fominskoye. An ethnic village has been created in the museum from the houses taken out from the territories subject to flooding. The village of Spas-Vezhi, flooded during the creation of the Kostroma Bay, as well as the city of Mologa, absorbed, became symbols of the irretrievably lost Russia.

Idolom Dam

The history of the formation of the Kostroma Sea dates back to the 50s of the last century. In 1956, simultaneously with the launch of the Gorkovskaya (Nizhny Novgorod) HPP, which was the fourth stage of the Volga cascade of hydroelectric power plants, the Kostroma River was blocked. Its course was stopped by the Idolomskaya dam, which starts from the shipyard in the city of Kostroma and ends at the village of Coastal. The fifty-kilometer dam serves as a barrier against flooding of agricultural areas.

Functions of the Kostroma reservoir

What is the Kostroma Sea (photo posted in the article) now? Its main purpose is to regulate the water level in Gorky reservoir associated with the operation of the Rybinsk hydroelectric power station.

In addition, the Kostroma Bay is famous for the fact that it reproduces and feeds fish, which then ends up in the Gorky storage. Recently, tens of thousands of carp fry were released into the waters of the Kostroma Sea. They are also trying to reproduce on an industrial scale the sterlet, which is listed in the Red Book.

Rest on the sea

The nature surrounding the Kostroma Sea makes rest on its shores unforgettable. Moreover, along the banks of the storage facility itself and on its islands, there are dozens of magnificent tourist centers and recreation centers for every taste and wealth - from the eco-hotel "Romanov Les" to various fishing huts, pleasing with comfort and affordable prices. The recreation centers are surrounded by beautiful forests full of game, mushrooms and berries. There is comprehensive information about such vacation spots as Familyhotel-RU, Astashevo, Belkina Griva (named after the island of the same name), Bely Yar, Vetluga and many, many others. And although the shores of the sea itself are swampy, there are pretty decent beaches on the dam. The recreation center "Pribrezhny", located 20 km from Kostroma, is located right on the shores of the sea of the same name.

Fabulous fishing and the location of the reservoir

Fishing in the Kostroma Sea deserves special mention. In some reviews, there is evidence that up to 30-50 pike perches can be caught in the floods of the reservoir in a few hours. Very often come across pikes weighing up to 15-18 kg, tench, bream and asp - up to 3 kg.

Here is beautiful and winter fishing, and the bases, available in large quantities, are comfortable and affordable. It is worth adding that the beauty of the numerous islands of the Kostroma reservoir, as well as the coasts, is extraordinary. One of them, put up for sale, was included in the list of the 10 best in the world in this category. For those who do not know where the Kostroma Sea is located, we will give a hint. Kostroma itself, the cradle of the Romanov dynasty, is located 344.5 km from Moscow along the Yaroslavl Highway and the M8 Kholmogory highway. The Kostroma Sea, as noted above, spilled 20 km from it.
