ONLINE DAY

19:10. German journalists surrounded the race winner like this: Benedicta Doll that he is not even visible. I would like to believe that in the next races they will stick around one of the Russian biathletes. With this hope we end today’s live, but we don’t say goodbye for a long time. Very soon in the “Championship” group “VKontakte” Our daily broadcast will summarize the results of the day. Do not miss! And tomorrow we will have two races at once: men's and women's pursuits. Let's root for our people together!

19:05. The sprint winners also shared their emotions. Johannes Boe: “I left the stadium as a leader, but lost by a split second. The chances were 50/50, but I was unlucky. I'm upset even though I spent good race and fought on the last lap. Now I want to go back to the hotel, eat and recover. Many athletes will follow me tomorrow, and it will not be easy to get on the podium again.

Martin Fourcade: When I crossed the finish line, I was counting on getting into the top ten, then I thought that I could be in the top five, but I ended up winning a bronze medal. Two penalties is too many to fight for the victory, so I'm glad I won a medal. I thought there would be no medal at all, so I’m satisfied with today’s bronze.”

19:00. Doll, naturally, was delighted at the press conference: “An amazing moment for me came today. It was a very exciting race. Before the start, I saw that Martin shot 1+1 and I have a chance. It was incredible to win the first race and go straight to the World Championship. All season I had problems with shooting, but during the shooting, especially in standing shooting, I felt confident and realized that I had to try to win. On the “stand” when I hit the last shot, I realized that I could become a world champion. This was one of the best moments in my career."

18:20. Showed the best speed over the distance today Martin Fourcade, Further - Eberhard, Doll And Bo Jr.. Shipulin- tenth (+30.0), Garanichev- 14th (+40.4).

18:10. The positions of the Russians, given the upcoming pursuit race, are not impressive. Garanichev- 10th (+45.1), Shipulin- 21st (+1.14.7), Babikov- 49th (+1.49.0). Tsvetkov turned out to be only 69th.

18:00. Then came the enchanting denouement of the race: Johannes Boe lost only 0.7 seconds Dollyu! The German became world champion for the first time in his career. The Norwegian has silver, Fourcade- bronze.

17:55. And here is the long-awaited news! Shipulin and Fourcade greeted and hugged in the mixed zone. The long-awaited reconciliation has finally happened!

16:38. Before the start of the race, the judges held meetings in the tribune room.

16:32. Rifle case Evgenia Garanicheva easy to distinguish from the standard equipment of other biathletes by the tricolor and signed surname.

15:47. Maxim Tsvetkov Additional ammunition was needed during training. Maxim, unlike Babikov, did not win this season, but in the same Östersund he was tenth in the sprint and second in the pursuit.

15:40. So Gross And Babikov We talked at yesterday's training. Anton had the best sprint-pursuit combination this season in Östersund. In the first race he showed the seventh result, and in the second he won.

15:34. By the way, an interesting fact about Loginovo, who will miss the first two personal races. Despite the negative information background, a note about Alexander’s triumph at the European Championships was published in the latest issue of the official IBU magazine Biathlonworld. And there is not a single mention in the article that Alexander served a disqualification for EPO. You can here.

15:14. It was caught on camera by our special correspondents. That's how he shot at yesterday's training. I would like to believe that in the race he will not have any problems on the shooting range.

15:07. Today awaits us men's sprint. And representatives of the strong half of biathlon humanity were preparing for the race yesterday morning.

15:00. You didn’t have to leave the house to watch the women’s training this morning. The Championship special correspondent organized a broadcast directly from the scene. You can see how the girls prepared for the pursuit race.

14:50. Anastasia Kuzmina, yesterday in a conflict with Fourcade, today in training she moved with a classic move.

14:40. The main stand of the stadium in Hochfilzen was empty during the first half of the day. There were no people willing to watch the girls’ training. This is understandable: many preferred to read the section “Two from ProstoRashino” in the warmth. It was much more interesting than an ordinary lesson.

14:30. Hello, dear biathlon fans. The Biathlon World Championships in Hochfilzen continue, with the men's sprint next in line. Today the first individual medals for men will be played, the main hands of biathlon will be shaken and in general there will be a lot of interesting things to see. “Championship”, of course, monitors everything that happens at the biathlon stadium and beyond, so stay with us and don’t miss anything important!

Two gold medals in relay races and one victory in the men's sprint - such results were brought to the Russian team at the World Cup stage in Oberhof, Germany, which became the most successful top-level biathlon start for our country in last years. It turns out that biathlon can give our fans not only disappointment, but also joy and even pride.

All students know that if you scold a person during an exam, he will definitely be lucky. In recent years, what critical words have not been said about Russian biathlon - about the non-transparent selection system, about the inability to recruit better shape to the main competitions, and of course - about doping. Literally in Oberhof they demanded a public apology for the doping past. And at that moment the student's omen finally worked.

1. Russia(Evgenia Pavlova, Margarita Vasilyeva, Larisa Kuklina, Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht) - 1:18.46.3 (0 laps + 8 additional rounds)
2. Germany(Caroline Horchler, Franziska Hildebrand, Franziska Preuss, Denise Hermann) - gap 33.5 (2 + 10)
3. Czech Republic(Lucia Harvatova, Veronika Vitkova, Marketa Davidova, Eva Puskarchikova) - 36.7 (1 + 6)

The current breakthrough in results can be considered both the result of a change of power in the Russian Biathlon Union, and the result of a new system of selection for the national team, and even just a lucky coincidence. After all, both relay races in Oberhof took place in difficult weather conditions, and many of our competitors were simply unlucky. After all, so far the Russians have only won the first stage of the World Cup after the New Year break, and not the World Championship or the Olympics. The coming weeks will show how serious our claims to leadership are.

The pendulum can still swing in any direction. But what is certain is that the Russian team realized that it was able to catch the victorious spirit. And if haters are part of this courage, then we can only regret that the star of the Czech national team, who cheered us up all last season, retired so early. Nowadays only men do this work. And after the grand stage in Oberhof, they can only ask for one thing. Dear Martin, Johannes and Sebastian, please do not stop, we expect even harsher criticism from you.

The men's relay team repeated the women's success

This relay seemed incredibly intriguing immediately after the announcement of the lineups. What will he look like in the role of a slaughterer, who is even in the New Year? IBU Cup didn't hit? Will he cope with his relay syndrome? Can the most experienced one do it? What is the state after the decline in persecution?

After the sensational victory of the women, things became even more interesting. In recent years, our men's team has been much stronger and it was interesting to see if they would be able to repeat the success of the girls. They did it!

Shine from Tsvetkov and Garanichev

The men's team has not won since 2017, when it triumphantly finished with the flag at the World Championships in Hochfilzen. The only one of those four who is now in the base is Tsvetkov.

And Maxim spent his stage in Oberhof perfectly. In difficult weather conditions, only four managed without mistakes at the first stage, including the Russian. As a result, Tsvetkov passed the baton among the leaders. Together with a German, a Frenchman and a Czech. I was especially pleased that the Russian gritted his teeth on the last lap and made up the 5-second gap from the leaders, who had emerged after the second shooting.

Frankly, I was worried about Garanichev. There was no doubt that he could fight everyone at his stage with his legs. And it was difficult to give guarantees for his standing shooting in such gusts of wind. Evgeniy himself has said more than once that, despite everything that happened to him in relay races before, there is no talk of any psychological breakdown - he is ready to run any stage and at any time. But now bronze medalist The Sochi Olympics demonstrated this clearly. After a clean prone position, he was the only one of the leaders to work to zero on the stand.

And we went to the penalty loops, Birkeland took two extra cartridges, and Garanichev rushed to the finish line! Baby, he brought half a minute of advantage over Norway and 38 over France.

In theory, the second half of the relay should have been calmer. Everything is clear with Loginov - he is the leader of the team. Malyshko is known for not letting you down in team racing. Plus, the Norwegian coaches gave the Be brothers the opportunity to rest, which is also good for us.

And again the finish line is with the Russian flag!

In the end, that’s what happened.

Malyshko allowed himself to make one mistake in the first shooting, but his advantage only grew - his opponents made even more mistakes. On the second, the situation was repeated with frightening accuracy. Dmitry again took an additional cartridge, but the rest were doing much worse. As a result, Russia’s advantage after six milestones over second place was more than a minute, and over second place - almost two!

Such dominance has not happened for 10 years, since the heyday of our golden four - Tcherezov, Chudov, Yaroshenko and Kruglov.

Alexander Loginov simply had to avoid failure. And he confidently coped with his task. Immediately after his final shooting, Tsvetkov, Garanichev and Malyshko began to hug and raise their arms in victory.

The result is another finish with the Russian flag. Who could have believed it when Anton Shipulin announced his retirement?! But, contrary to forecasts, the men's team did not fall apart. We have our second victory of the day.

And this is just some kind of holiday! There have been no winning doubles for the men's and women's relay teams since December 2006.

Of course, Russian biathlon There are still a lot of problems and we can’t expect that now it will always be like this Sunday. There is a lot of work ahead. But today we have every right to enjoy success and be proud of this team.

On January 24, the European Biathlon Championships began in the city of Duzhniki Zdroj (Poland). Just in one day Russian athletes were able to win four medals. B individual race among men, 1st place was taken by Alexander Loginov, 3rd place by Alexey Slepov, and among women - 1st place by Irina Starykh, 2nd place by Svetlana Sleptsova.
