Onion coloring printable. Useful properties of onions

Still life: how to draw a bow.

Here we must immediately warn you - we will draw a vegetable, not a weapon.

Yesterday there was a painting lesson at school on the topic of vegetables, I distributed potatoes, carrots and onions to each desk. Yes exactly. If I constantly promote drawing from nature, then words should not be at odds with deeds: I dug up a crop from the beds and brought it to class as nature. One of the student's pictures directly penetrated me to the soul - an excellent, very ruddy onion. Looking at the picture, I thought: something is missing. How what? - Shadows!

Shadow, please draw...

Shadow? - Please!

Student drawing bow

And I got a picture with a shadow. That is, not just an image of the bulb without reference to the place where it is located, but everything is honest - the location and lighting are indicated.

And I was immediately inspired and decided to keep up with the students: I wrote a step-by-step lesson “How to draw a bow”.

We have grown two varieties of onions: golden and purple. Let's draw both:

By the way, it's time to call the cat a cat - what we are going to draw now is called "still life". This word is translated rather ominously: dead nature. But it is understood that the picture is dedicated to the depiction of inanimate objects, and the arrangement of these objects is not random, but thoughtful, it is desirable that the resulting composition be harmonious in shape and color.

H draw an onion step by step

I start with a pencil drawing.

The bulbs are not spherical, but somewhat flattened. It can be said that they resemble church onion domes. The golden onion has a long straight tail made of dried feathers, the purple one has this tail bent and fluffy, and the husk on the side lags behind, it looks good - it looks more interesting. I immediately mark the shadows in the figure.

Now let's get down to paint: I paint the whole still life at the same time to have a general idea of the resulting picture as a whole.

The golden onion has a matte surface, the glare on it is not bright, but the lilac one shines like varnished.

Also pay attention - according to the logic, the object is lit from above, the shadow is below it, and the object itself should be dark there. But this is theoretical. In practice, a lot depends on the background color. I have a neutral background - I put my nature on white cardboard. And this white cardboard there is not just a horizontal support, it “fonites”. There are clear reflexes on my bulbs from below.

The shadow cast by the onions is also non-uniform: it is darker near the object, and fades towards the edge. By the way, I was now working with electric light, so the shadow has a clear outline and location, and if it happened during the day in the sun - this is where we would have fun - then a cloud will come running, then a maple tree outside the window will wave a branch with the last leaves - the shadows are dancing . However, electric light also has its own characteristics: it is yellowish.
